  • Here's the dimensions and parts of my portable collapsible rear wheel recumbent trike stand.
#4 T-joint 3/4" pvc; with one T cut in half on the Tee horizontal part.
    #1 coupling 3/4" pvc.
#4 ground base legs 8 1/2" long; that slide into the base T's at each end.
#1 vertical leg 9 1/2" long; that fits vertically from the base T to the frame support T fittings
The base total length is 8 1/2" long; So cut the short pvc lengths which connect all the base T's together in accordance to making the overall length of the base 8 1/2" long...
one pvc length is 2 1/8" long, and the other is 1 5/8" long. However to make it easy... Just make sure the overall base length is
8 1/2" long. The center T is offset 1" from center.
This allows the stand to be centered underneath the trike and the vertical pvc leg is directly underneath the rear frame swing arm, which is offset from dead center of Trike.
With the base legs running perpendicular to the Trike, this allows much more stability from the Trike shifting from side to side. verses if the base legs were running in-line with the direction of the Trike.

      Thanks.
No one wants to set their derailleur on the ground when doing a flat tire repair out on the ground.

A flat tire on a recumbent trike is always the boogie man for us out there far from home. Your stand takes care of that fear of how to change a rear tire. I wonder if a wider cup area option in the kit would allow for raising a front tire off the ground for repair. I like that this is an inexpensive and lightweight solution. I used to carry a fairly long bungee cord I got at True Value, figuring that if I did ever get a flat, I could wrap the bungee around the frame somewhere and wrap the other end to a low hanging branch of a bush ... BUT of course, that required having a convenient addition provided in the natural world, and depending on where I was, that may not be an option. Your idea allows for raising the rear of the trike regardless of location.
I remember in 2012 when a fellow triker fabricated a similar stand that he carried in one of his panniers. When we were on tour, he banged his derailleur arm, slightly bending it and messing up his shifting. He whipped out his homemade stand like yours, raising the rear wheel while the trike sat on a picnic table in the campground, and we were able to fix it much easier by far than if it had to be accomplished on the ground. He did have Schwalbe Marathon PLUS tires, so flats weren't a threat, but he attempted to make a really quick unexpected shift while we were looking for a campsite when the pavement took a dramatic up angle all of a sudden around a bend, and the forced shift is what messed up his derailleur. He had shorter lateral support arms than you do, and I think your lateral support arms would provide a more stable base.

Yes!, the lateral support arms base are long enough to really stabilize the trike firmly while the rear wheel can be removed.
The custom stand weighs absolutely nothing and be it that all the pieces come apart.
It fits very well in the yellow zip bag. Which then can be placed almost flat on the bottom of a pannier. It's a item that would hardly ever be used, thus the reason for putting it at the bottom of a pannier.
However a valuable asset if needed out on the road far away from anything.
The front tires/wheels don't need to be removed from the trike. If you had a flat tire; which running Schwalbe Marathon PLUS tires would be very rare.
Just deflate the tube completely and break the outer tire bead and pull the tube out.
I've done this before before I ran Schwalbe Marathon PLUS tires.
