    • @potato11teen
      @potato11teen 2 місяці тому

I completely agree. Eric has it figured out. Honestly, it's a goal I think everyone in their life should strive to accomplish, find a passion and share that with a community you care about. It's extremely authentic to internalize the goal because it makes your intentions genuine and people naturally follow that. Externalized goals require validation which requires you to become something you aren't. The demographic he targets I don't think he views as just an underserved market ready to be groomed, but a part of a community that needs to have experiences like this and the places to do it.
@ericbosschicago, big ups for what you're doing for your community. I think if you could do this successfully for free you would, but we don't live in a world like that. If you aren't already familiar with the concept of third places I recommend you look into it. I think you may find a deeper meaning behind what you're doing besides just running a business. You've inspired me to be the Eric in my city's infant nightlife scene and maybe even a different way to carry myself at festivals and other live music events. Seriously a perspective I needed to see right now.

  • @BenCaesar

That's where the real money is, it's very lucrative....that's why they work so hard. The amicable teacher can be the pleasant 'front'. The friend on the phone ( maybe several friends) in the 'back' sort out the real deals $$ in the DMs. These women think they're getting a great deal, drinks for free...but they are potentially open to being just as big of 'marks' as the men paying for the tables.

Love this video! Three different promoters, 3 different marketing strategies!
Derik - selling exclusivity within the nightclub's prime real estate / traditional word of mouth branding/venue aimed at younger crowd between the ages of 21 - 26
Jay - 2-person team leveraging technology for scalability & hospitable hosting / bringing in as many guests he can for scale / letting the club's reputation do the branding with known local DJ & headliner artist
Eric - bringing young professionals & older demographic to relive the party days / using props to create a fun atmosphere to liven up the crowd / bringing consistent businesses to the venue that would otherwise close on a typical weeknight

Very interesting. I used to be a night club promoter in Scotland and it worked a bit differently. We were part of the underground techno / drum and bass scene, so it wasn't so much about being glamerous, but it was about putting on a great night and creating the right vibe (much closer to what Eric was doing in the 3rd segment, but without the Sushi).
We would have exclusive use of the club, and would keep all of the door receipts (and had to staff the door ourselves). The club would provide the bouncers (numbers based on our expected attendance) and the sound system (again we could choose if we wanted a 5k, 10k etc based on our needs), both of which we would pay for. We would book DJs and pay for their fees, travel and accomodation, provide decor and bring our network of friends, many of whom would help us out with promotion, flyering, postering, manning the front door etc and so wouldn't pay.
We would keep all door receipts, and a % of the bar take over a minimum (basically they take enough to cover their costs, and then split the profit).
The better we got at creating fun nights the more famous we became, and eventually we had top DJ's from London asking if they could come and play at our night, as they had heard how much of a great night it was, so they would typically waive their fee and come on an expences only basis, so we would arrange accomodation and travel. This meant we were able to get much more expensive and famous DJs than we could reasonably afford on our budget, which again helped our reputation. We also got great press in local papers and even titles like Mix Mag, which again helped the brand. The more we spent on making the night fun and giving to the crowd, the more we got back in future events which was a very virtuous cycle.

I used to be a dj and some promoters were even clever enough to ask the ladies what their favourite songs are and he then asked me to play them at specific times. Little gestures like that can go a long way, especially when a night is tough and there aren't as many guests or it gets super warm inside because the AC is broken or whatever reason. In the end it is the tough nights, that define the promoter's skill (and also the dj's skill)

In this video it's most Chicago natives who are coming into these clubs. But in other, more tourist centric cities, you have to somewhat change up your approach and the competition is bigger. The need to attract whales is bigger. I saw one video talking about promoters in Vegas catering to whales who spend $10-100k easy but these promoters have to find women and whatever the whale wants including drugs and sex workers (if the women are not on board). Man, this ended up being far more interesting and less sleazy than I was expecting lol. I’m 31 and a native Chicagoan and while I never really got into clubbing, Chicago’s nightlife and clubbing scene is as good and fun as the best of them. There’s so many different and dynamic offerings here in the city if you’re into the nightlife and you can have some crazy fun experiences if you know which clubs to go to. This inside look at the logistics of how these places are ran was fascinating. I will say that while I didn’t really care for the two guys or their clubs, the last one looked more vibrant, chill, fun and I really liked the hard work and dedication of the last promoter. That club feels more inclusive and sexy and thrilling, with a diverse mix of people and would be a little more up my alley, even though I don’t generally go to clubs. I may actually consider hitting that one up sometime on my off days.
Overall, great work, MBA! This was one if your best yet and the cinematography used for the footage was impressive. I hope you got to experience even more of the Chi and enjoyed your time here. I’m looking forward to your next deep dive.

The night club system in Mexico is just like in Chicago and, in my opinion, it sucks being a man. You literally can have much more fun with 6 friends drinking beers in your front yard than going clubbing, potentially getting into fights, spending a weeks' worth of salary and either getting boring one night stands with high risk of STD transmission or just getting ignored in favor of other guys who are willing to spend more for a girl

This is so humbling as a girl, I went to mami with my friends and I was the only one not let in the club. It was so humiliating, we came from Chicago all the way down for my friend’s 21st birthday. Safe to say I was never invited out again 😢

What did your friends do? As someone who now lives in Chicago who also knows Miami well it’s not surprising it was Miami but definitely odd they wouldn’t let you in at all or your friends wouldn’t stick up for you? Mind sharing the details of what happened?

This was extremely interesting and enlightening. I appreciate the respect you gave each of these men as they worked their craft and created value and great memories for their marketplace and target customers. I feel like a lot of people would look down on these promoters, which is too bad. All I see is extremely astute businessmen who know their product, market, and niche and who go out every weekend and create real memories for the people they work with. A lot of respect for these guys working hard, and for you the content creator showing us the business of clubbing with no judgement. I never thought about the economics of a night club but they are fascinating. You have a new subscriber

This video was really interesting. Impressive how they build their brand out almost nothing but social media. The first two guys were impressive but the last guy Eric was on another level. I'm older and don't really subscribe to that lifestyle but would really want to go to one of his events. It's like peaking behind the scenes of a great magician when you see how the trick works it's not so impressive but when he does his magic on the stage for all to see you are blown away!

I watch every video but I found this video especially fascinating. Ironically I'm not much of a clubber. It feels like a rich man's game and I'm far from rich. But the logistics of it, how much work goes into making it an memorable experience is really cool to see. I like bars and I like getting to know the staff and i don't live in a major city, so this was an interesting step up.
I planned a friend's birthday and wound up doing similar work to a promoter (for a party of like 7-8 lol), and that was a task. Can't even imagine trying to fill an entire nightclub in a major city, I don't have the social battery for that lol.
That Eric guy is a genius imo lol I wanna go to one of his parties.
