Guys I'm half Brazilian and i would say I'm kind ashamed by that stupidity of some of you. Rio is a Global city - Brazil is, even in crisis, a Global Player - and the city has absolutely everything you'd find in New York or London, except the average standard of life in Rio is not as high as those ones for most people. Slums are not most part of the city - actually they're like 20%. Violence is a concern in Brazilian everyday life, but these days the City is pretty safe - there are cops and soldiers everywhere. And don't forget we have cities much more violent than Rio here in America - New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore etc are good examples. Those American cities actually are more violent than Rio. So stop the stereotypes and just enjoy the games.
