There needs to be a way to secure $300 camera. Thieves have no problem smashing glass and grabbing cameras off the cars windshield. Removing it constantly is annoying. These companies need to focus on having a small NVR that can be hidden inside the car and multiple cameras can be attached. I would be happy to buy one. That's five channels. Record inside, front, back, and the sides.
When I bought my first dash cam I purchased a SD card extension cable/ribbon and snapped it into the headliner circling the mounts so if someone does a smash and grab the photos stays behind. After years of using the dash cams I've never had one stolen but I have bought non-descript and more cover models. Have left car in some crappy places overnight (Atlanta, New Orleans, Random trailheads, etc). Could be my car simply doesn't draw attention or this strategy works.
Buy one with G-sensor. The senor records these movements, and the video footage is immediately secured, preventing it from being overwritten or deleted. The same occurs when the car is parked and sudden movement is detected, such as a break-in or collision. This is an excellent feature to safeguard your parked car against vandalism and theft. Since most dashcams today can directly transmit data to a phone or laptop, you have real-time access to the footage, even if the car thief takes off with your dashcam
Now I have a display and I hate it, it is so small, I can't see anything on it. I would prefer to use the app instead. If at night the Viofo can see the street name, and better the license plate, why the Vantrue is better?
I have watched a few comparisons and found the N4 pro will be my choice. I liked you actually showed the options as I would only use the forward camera. So really only need a one channel but seems you need to get the pro to get the best video quality. I would like someone to say how much time will be recorded before over writing occurs. Also how long will it record on a charged battery. My application will be a semi truck mostly so I would like to know if I need to charge during a 14 hour day.
Thanks @LifeHackster I'll certainly be watching more videos of your dash cams, I hope you get more to test. Yes I still watch your security cams too. I currently use 10 arlo pro and arlo pro 2 cams at 2 different locations. I record how many videos a day/week/month and if I change a battery I record what number battery (I have spares ready charged) how many records per battery and how many days and change the battery not plug in a charger, distance from the base station to the cam makes a difference how long batteries last I have found, bit like mobile phones how they chew the battery when you are a long way away from a mobile tower. I always give a battery a fresh charge before replacing the battery. I also have 7 on solar panels, the arlo pro would not let me use any other solar panel than arlo brand, but the pro 2 let me use different cheaper solar panels, which come with built in batteries. Keep the vids coming LH.
Very helpful, detailed review. I have run two Vantrue single channel models for several years. Still running, although I do no leave them when parked outside due to our extreme heat. I have a mirror mount but I'm curious if this model is not easy to remove for storage? Vantrue is one of those brands that offers solid build quality although seem to be not as well known due to less hype compared to some. Thanks!

I unfortunately pre-ordered the N5 when it first came out. I have had issues with the camera shortly after receiving. Also the Wi-Fi would be turned on randomly as well when the wifi is off in settings. Finally the cameras screen is permanently black, nothing. I've called customer support went through the troubleshooting steps and have emailed recently. I've been jerked around for 5 days now. I keep having to repeat myself. @LifeHackster Merhaba.

This looks good for 4k and price is 80 bucks off of $380 which is good for a 3 cam set up.. lets make that park mode video now
I had an N2 pro, I liked it but then the internal battery died and there's no way to change it. The camera still works but you can't change the settings or the time and date which makes it pretty useless.
Viofo dashcam's average life is approx 2-3 years for an expensive dashcam ten you start having various issues. I also have an A139 ch3 dashcam, when the wifi no longer works it means you will no longer be able to view the videos, settings, and or change settings. to view the video you either plug the dashcam into your pc or take the micro sd card to view.

Lol lol lol, my wife was near by and I was telling her it’s time for the old “upgrade swap and give” (my son will have his first car soon so I give her mine, she gives my son hers, and I upgrade) and then she heard you say that you were giving your wife the lesser cam and she gave us both the side I. Glad it’s not just me using that system lol
I saw a car chase scene using the vantrue cam, and I am amazed by how crisp the footage is! Even the police officers were impressed by the quality. I think law enforcement should somehow have this hardware implemented into their equipment!
I have installed this Vantrue N4 PRO dashcam in my car, setted the resolution at 2160p but when I watch the footage in VLC (mp4) it's kinda blurry, sometimes grey parts in the footage, slowly playback. When I play it in Wondershare Filmora 9, I dont have this blurry or grey sections in the footage but it kinda have trouble playing it. I guess my Windows 10 64bit laptop cant handle 4k videos? Second issue I found, when setting the resolution of my Vantrue N4 PRO dashcam to 1080p, it's all kinda looks like blocks when watching the footage, yet my previous dashcam, MiVue 752 at 1080p shows clear image / footage from the surroundings but with higher bitrate. What do I do wrong? Or do I really need a new computer that can handle 4k videos?
Can this camera show the speed you were going? In case a cop tries to ticket you for speeding or they’re using the excuse of speeding for an unlawful stop.
Great video has always n review....im def going 2 try this cam now. I personally had bad experiences with my Viofo a139. Both interior and rear cameras went out after 9mnths then now 1.5yrs lator I have a completely dead A139 main unit. For the price they didnt last anywhere what I thought. Hope this unit is alot better.....Viofo a139 😞👎
Yes, they do get hot and same thing with the Viofo A139 PRO and most 4K multi-channel dashcams. As long as they work and record in the peak of summer..which both of these dashcams do, it is fine. Also, make sure you have high endurance cards, because this is the heat that they have to endure...
Is the Samsung Pro Plus enough you think or would you use the SanDisk Max or High endurance? I wanted one that was 512GB but I couldn’t find any high endurance ones that were.
@@jamiev7165 Buy the N5..it doesn't do 4k which I think is unnecessary for a dash cam...1080P is more than good enough to get evidence and read license plates

Can it see plates at night for cars approaching in the opposite direction or next to you coming from behind? Might be a risk someone might tray to steal it, might be good if it can record while parked running on its own super capacitor rather than draining the car battery. Maybe I'll just get a Tesla with built in cameras.
Not worth the price especially since I got the n4 non nexus pro for only 189 for prime day. And only difference is quality when running all three cameras? I just run the back and front one and the quality is the same 😢 rip off for the nexus pro
Wow.. interesting... hmm.. what if this tool is used as a home CCTV... especially the Dashcam as an Outdoor CCTV so it can capture clear images of license plates at night

Does placing them in the upper center of the windshield effect safety sensors in newer cars? After I bought my Subaru, the salesman told me not to put my EZ Pass under the Eyesight system.
Since they are easy to remove and reposition, i would give it a shot. Then, reposition if it doesn’t work out! Through my research, these are currently the 2 best cameras on the market! Your older Thinkware (and even the newest Thinkware U3000 @ $549) cant compete with either the VIOFO A139 pro or the Vantrue N4 Pro! Ya gotta have extra peace-of-mind for these lunatic drivers and these seem like an excellent solution!

When It is safe for me to make a lane change they then go ahead of me and gives me a brake check. If this thing works. I will take that video with the speed I was traveling to the nearest Highway patrol.
Both dashcams can be purchased without the rear view camera included! You can disable the interior camera for the Vantrue N4 Pro. So, essentially, you can purchase either one as a 1 channel dashcam while maximizing processing power and minimizing price as well as installation complexity.
Just an advice, Don't buy this dashcam or any ventrue products, the skip time , losing time and the rear camera go bad quickly, the sold out back camera 6m cable. I tried to fix the cable Success. I have now to buy the back camera to get the cable
My Viofo a139 Pro has not been a reliable camera. I use a 3 channel setup and sometimes it just doesn't record. Too many bugs. My unit is from the pre-order batch... maybe I was sold a lemon.
I'd rather have the Viofo. You get a screen on the other but not able to see the street name clearly (per the video). I want to have as much visibility on the recording and is more discreet not having a screen.
I was about to pull the trigger on the VIOFO but i watched a comparison video yesterday (The Hook Up) and the Vantrue blew the GoPro Hero 11, Blackvue DR970X, VIOFO A139 Pro, 70MAI A810, Thinkware U3000, and even the Vantrue N5 Pro away…especially at night and specifically when came to license plate capturing! It seems that the VIOFO (as an early adapter) doesn’t have all the features of the newest chipset activated (i.e. Clear HDR). Don’t get me wrong, i still love the VIOFO 139 Pro but I’m a sucker for resolution. Keep in mind, that during portions of the comparison, the VIOFO was operating in 1 channel mode to optimize processing power while the Vantrue ran in 3 channel mode and the VIOFO still couldn’t keep up. Check out that video when you get the chance “Ultimate Dashcam Comparison 2023: License Plate Reading is HERE!”

I bought a vantrun N4 two years ago. Now it's out of order. Such an expensive price only has a two-year lifespan.Highly recommend not to buy this brand
9% one-star is a sobering reminder that regardless of price range these Chinese companies generally have bad customer service and uneven quality control.
I'm in Australia and purchased this Vantrue N4 Pro 4K dashcam for my Mazda 2 (2020) and found on opening the box that it is very heavy and BIG. There is no reason from a design standpoint to make the whole that heavy and the cord (from the cigarette lighter) is not long enough to hide it in the panels so it had to go direct and in front of the dash - very ugly arrangement. The double sided tape that came with the factory couldn't hold the dashcam on the windscreen because it is THAT heavy. I got rid of the factory tape and used a 3M tape and it also couldn't hold it on the windscreen due to the WEIGHT. Moved to using Loctite superglue and it held only for a few days. I'm considering throwing it in the trash bin. This device is too heavy for ANY glue to hold it on the windscreen. Very badly designed. Product not tested at all.If you live in a country that has a normal summer (30+ C), you wont be able to keep it glued to the windscreen. Highly recommend you do NOT buy this dashcam. You have been warned.
add your face to the video tile so people know you are a human and not just a low quality compilation video channel. with the channel name its hard to tell sometimes.
Nice. I'm glad to see people are starting to make dashcams that are actually useful.

The Vantrue advertises 'low battery voltage shutdown" but mine and my grandsons do not shut down and we wound up with dead batteries.

Does the Vantrue have MPH info? I see the time and date
Yes, it does, I just turned off GPS in my demo for privacy purposes.
@@LifeHackster awesome thanks for response!
Welke is beste?
i have been looking for something with external mic but never found one ....
While its a nice unit, it's a shame about the thickness of the bloody cables
Hello Bhai please let me know a single model car dashcam with 4G SIM slot so that I can monitor remotely in apps
What’s the best dash cam with front facing camera only that can get the clips from an app?
I reviewed the Rove R2-4K Pro and it is only 1 channel and records in 4K but quality is not as good as Starvis 2 sensor dashcams.
Can you disable the gps ?
Yes.
@@LifeHackster at times, don’t need my speed recorded 😜
From saudi 👍
Thanks for watching!
My Viofo a139 Pro has not been a reliable camera. I use a 3 channel setup and sometimes it just doesn't record. Too many bugs. My unit is from the pre-order batch... maybe I was sold a lemon.
You should have covered the voice commands.
@@Bacnow
Just saw it, his video is why I went with the N4 PRO!
@@Bacnow Merhaba.
I bought a vantrun N4 two years ago. Now it's out of order. Such an expensive price only has a two-year lifespan.Highly recommend not to buy this brand
Me too. Buy insurance on it.
What brand should we try it to void something like this
That same thing happened to me on my VIOFO 3ch, twice! Louisiana heat I figured. Next time I’m adding extra ceramic tint in that spot
can it be mounted without 3m glue ?
No, there are no suction cups or other accessories to install it but 3M stickers.
For almost $400 it should have a little hand that comes out and scratches your butt.
I ugly laughed so hard at this 🤣
Could you do a review on Vantrue N5?
$209 right now, but Amazon reviews are harsh. I don't know what to believe because ive bought 3 and returned each already.
Which models did you buy and return?
That looks great video! I would like to have one!
And also parking mode with vantrue is really bad. It starts recording after 10 seconds.
Please review the nexus 5
Big bucks
True but this is cheaper than the viofo and especially thinkware U3000…which are 4K starvis 2 dash cams.
Need a n4 pro vs n5 review please
Need something more stealth
add your face to the video tile so people know you are a human and not just a low quality compilation video channel. with the channel name its hard to tell sometimes.
How about 360 dash cam? Best sells in china
Resolution usually suffers with 360 cams…most likely you will not be able to read plates.
You should blur out the license plate of those infront of you :)) just so you dont post other people private info up ^^ great content
Astig
u won't get 4k at the front camera when using 3ch option!!
Mine is in 4K, 3 channels as you see in the video... did you watch it right?
Vantrue or Vifo?
sorry VIOFO 229
Not spending $380 on a dashcam.
It’s $80 off right now ( Amazon)
Unless $300 is a stretch too lol
the microphone on the camera is horrendous
