I never thought to try removing some of the interior panels to tuck the wires away nicely like you did. For some reason I thought those pillars by the front windshield were the actual airbags themselves and was scared to mess with them. This was very helpful to watch, thank you! Now I gotta get down to Harbor Freight and get some pry tools!
The interior camera actually is very good in case of side impact or an impact at an angle where the front camera wouldn't capture the whole incident. With the interior camera basically it's all round recording
I also used the OBDII adapter for continuous power for my VANTrue N5 (four cameras). It's clean, straightforward and is virtually no drain on the system (although I also connect the vehicle to a "Battery Tender" whenever it's parked in the garage). The only thing to be aware of is that if your local tree police want you to have your emissions checked or if you take the vehicle in to the garage, you'd be well advised to package the VANTrue OBD connector in such a way as to be able to unplug it while the vehicle is being tested/serviced. On my 2013 Edge, I was able to wrap the extra cordage around the plug and secure it with tape. I'm not sure about other vehicle OBDII sockets, but I find it would be nice if the VANTrue connector plug was a "pass-thru" design so the various OBDII lines were accessible with the plug in place. As it is now, the plug has a closed front end. Still, perhaps simply unplugging it when you're giving up the vehicle for any kind of work is wisest. I first turn off the dashcam with the big red button, then just unplug the OBD plug, tuck the plug/cable up under the lip of the cowling and use a paper clamp to keep it from falling down. When I drive away, I simply replug the whole thing and switch my N5 setup back on. Basta!
...and a P.S.: I don't have a sillifone, and even so your pitch is absolutely the best and most thorough on the VANTrue dashcam I've seen yet...and I've looked at a bunch! KUDOS!!
Thank you for such detailed and honest review. Did you need (Do you recommend) to disconnect car battery prior to installing hardware kit? See, I have BMW and these cars are rather sensitive to battery being disconnected. If not required, I would prefer not to disconnect a battery.
I'm ready to replace my current dash cam with the N4 Pro. A couple of concerns I had were how secure is that attachment to the glass over time especially in high temperatures. Also, my current dash cam warns against tucking the wires in the trim where curtain airbags are present; was there any such warning in the installation instructions?
I have had mine installed through the Texas summer with no issues so far. As for warnings on trim, there may have been, but there are airbags everywhere.
It seems at the 07:00 time mark you have run the cable between the A pillar cover and the airbag? I believe that's quite dangerous, because it can actually prevent the airbag from properly deploying in case of an accident. You should instead run the wire behind the airbag, for example, so the airbag is not obstructed in any way.
Hi Chris. Hope you're getting some miles on the 24. I am curious about the tree debris in the neighborhood. A bad storm or just spring clean up? I am going back to look at some old videos there is a lot of great info that still aplies to my 23, so thanks for that. I like all the Crown and comments for sure!! I want to put the Vantrue on the bike, if Max comes out with a new mount please let us know. Be safe
Just an advice, Don't buy this dashcam or any ventrue products, the skip time , losing time and the rear camera go bad quickly, the sold out back camera 6m cable. I tried to fix the cable Success. I have now to buy the back camera to get the cable

Always relevant info in here Cruise! Folks be here or be no where! Thank you Cruise!
What doesn’t any of these reviews talk about the parking mode? That’s the main reason I’m trying to buy a camera & nobody seems to talk about that

I didn't. No issues. Pontiac G6.
Is it easy to remove the camera and take it out of the car when wanting to??
If you would install that polarized lens to front camera that take that blurry look away
Sorry but the audio from this dashcam is really bad for this price. But your deep review is just great and so detailed. Great work. Thanks.
You have had four months since you made this video.
Do you find the low voltage cutout working properly or is the unit draining your battery?

@@cruisemansgarage Thank you, I appreciate your quick response!
I’m very confused with the recording feature, if the dash cam is already recording then what exactly does it do when you start recording?

@jpvloeimans Precisely my thoughts. Good eye sir.
This is my concern as well, I want someone who knows what they’re doing to tuck the cords so that doesn’t happen.
Thank you for the "to the point" video.
Thank you for making this video! Just set mine up
How good is the 24/7 motion detection on this camera ?
Does this dongar adapter work with vantrue for an easier install?
I'd like to know if the LTE Connectivity Module works with this model.... thanks!
Glad you updated your video. Too many loones out there on the WWW. Great video.

How long did it take you to install? I think I will just pay a pro audio shop to install it.
@@d6678 about 1.5 hours. But, I didn’t have a video!

Debris from high winds. Up to 80mph! We got lucky escaped with only some fence damage.

Excellent instructional video. Top rate. Proper respect to you.
Can you turn the view screen off while driving and still be recording?
Update: Bought, installed. Very satisfied with the features and quality.
@@terry4343 yes.
@@cruisemansgarage thank you. As always - very helpful.
In fact, my screen is set to go off about 3 minutes after I start driving.
@@cruisemansgarage made the purchase hope to install it next week.
Great job

Too much of a faff. There are far better options available that are far easier to install.
