I don’t think it has much use to fireproof the houses. They should prevent the fire getting there in the first place. Create fire corridors in the forests. Even a brick house engolfed in flames won’t be a good house anymore afterwards.

There are products that do make the material fire resistant. Pinkshield is a paintable sealant that is fire and mold resistant.

Well, I’m here to say that many of us rented homes in Paradise......my rental was on Keffer Lane of Skyway behind Feather River Health Center and it is of course completely gone....up in flames 🔥 Sadly enough it’s impossible for me and all the other THOUSANDS of renters to ever get to go back HOME....Home is truly where your heart is. I lived in Paradise for nearly 20 years.....10 of those years in the same rental home on the ridge of canyon...the most beautiful place I’ve ever lived in my whole life!!!!! My heart is broken for the loss is huge and life will never be the same without Paradise. It will always be considered my home. Now only people who have money, land, power to choose can live their. My home truly is gone FOREVER without ANY replacement along with THOUSANDS of other families who could only afford to rent. Lucky for those who get to rebuild, who got the opportunity to become stakeholders and once again get to have Paradise.

There is a LOT homeowners can do to protect their homes from a wildfire. I switched my attic vents to Brandguard vents, caulked all openings and cracks in the home that embers could have collected in. And many other things, including removing excess brush, and having nothing flammable close to the house. I have a video on this very subject on my channel.

I hope these will be energy efficient homes with solar panels, battery storage and an EV charger in the garage.
The Climate Crisis is real. Every decision we make should contribute to the solution and not add to the problem. A Net Zero or Passive House design would be nice and set an example for others to follow. You could bring in local builders and show the latest building techniques for energy efficiency and home safety systems. THe solar panels and battery storage will help with all the power outages.

Some trees burned. Some didn't. Some houses burned. Some didn't. This is what happens when you have high winds driving *large* embers over a mile. It's the luck of the draw.
