Wow! This is brilliant. We have a oven in our UK victorian property. It looks identical to this! It had been covered over at some point in the history of the house. All the floor fire bricks are missing. Looks like they reused them somewhere.
1993 I visited Sturbridge Massachusetts on an 8th-grade field trip from Pequea Valley middle school in Mr. Beck's American History class. It was an awesome experience, to say the least.
My Aunt had an odd beehive oven in a late 1700s house. It was not connected to the chimney so you couldn't light a fire in it, but if you had a fire going in the main fireplace as well as the adjacent sitting room it got hot enough at the back to bake in.
NEEEEAT. I built my own domed kob oven for making bread. It's not indoors though. I had to build a massive cart for it so it could live on my deck. This is one of the most fascinating vids I've seen ATOH do in quite awhile.

We do too and we also have some wonderful building for the 1700, wood can be sustainable as long as the trees cut down are replaced and faster grow species are stuck too.

Im about to embark on such a journey in my c.1800s house. So many questions!!! 1) What about the rest of the mortar in the beehive oven? What condition is it in? Any cracks or leaks? 2) What about the condition of the rest of the chimney? Is there a chimney liner? 3) Is a type N, Portland-based mortar the best choice for a chimney that old? Many antique chimneys used an oyster-based slack line, correct? I heard that they have different thermal expansion rates and you should follow suit with the original mortar type. Thoughts? 4) Are the fireplace and beehive oven flues connected? Mine are. I was wondering if there is a relationship between running them at the same time or running one at a time. The opening for my beehive oven would only require a liner about 4-4.25 in. In diameter (which I don’t think they make them that small for solid fuel burning). Thoughts?

It doesn't matter; while these guys have great knowledge you have to remember these jobs are known in advanced and they do research. No that's not a bad thing or a dig; you want a contractor that won't assume and will look; in the case of this show they likely have several researchers(Or really by researcher we mean many masons to ask/ask local masons to job/check local codes etc and usually even code places will be like "Remember to check if house is X years old for Y and Z! If Y do A, if Z do B! etc). I mean he might know it and great if he does; but this isn't controversial and is a good thing.
Have you all done a video on repairing a cracked brick foundation?? We have a brick foundation on our house, and it's starting to crack a slowly move away from the concrete inner foundation. I hope you all can help.

I wonder what people will think of new houses today in 300 years *thought bubble...* "Greetings Xandar, what you have here was known colloquially as a "cookie cutter" home. "How strange! Why that name?" "Well at that time they actually designed their homes in the shape of a device used to cut cookie, which were a kind of sweetened biscuit." "Wow! That was before sugar was outlawed in 2078. I've read about that!" "Yes they lived very differently. Oh look at this! This flooring was called beige tile, it gave the appearance of being clean without actually being clean. Infact the entire home would be beige to hide dirt." "So people didn't clean their homes then, they just hid the dirt?" "Precisely Xandar. You have to remember it was a primitive time."

Not that rich. There are houses like this in NJ from the 1700's that are under $300k depending on the area.
I wouldn't want a leaky, drafty, cold, hot, and inefficient home with a 300 year old oven. I don't see the charm in Victorian!
