- The 2022+ Subaru WRX Has A Big Problem....
I can't solve this one just yet, but this is probably the largest issue with the 2022 Subaru WRX, 2023 Subaru WRX, 2024 Subaru WRX, and 2025 Subaru WRX. So if you want to learn more about Subaru WRX problems, and Subaru WRX issues, this is your video.

just get a sub woofer so everything rattles and you won't ever have to worry about it again
I can't believe that people are tearing their Interiors all apart to fix common noises. Mine is smooth and doesn't have these issues. A loud exhaust is going to reverberate through the whole car.
How many miles do you have on yours?
Ive noticed when my window is down 2 inches, the rattling of the window is unbearable.
That’s a Subaru trait lol
@yourmanzach2307 the woman is always full blast with the heat so I need to crack the window in order to not overheat but the rattling drives me crazy so I just leave it up and suffocate. The window is either completely up or completely down. No in between or else you get the constant rattle.
This is even worse with the 2024 TR/RS because of the stiffened race tuned suspension.
Lmao my shit is creaky af
I fixed my loudest creak by stuffing foam between the dashboard and windshield (right under the center line of the dash). Noises are hard to track down but I'm glad the fix was that simple in my case. I originally thought it was coming from behind the head unit. Give it a shot, it took 5 minutes!
I am 50% deaf 😅 100% when it comes to my wife and her complaints😂😂😂. These things don't bother me.
lol
I haven't heard anything like what you seem to be describing on my 23.🤷♂️
Same I hear nothing
No issues on my 23 either
Same here, tapping/clicking noise in the passenger side where the windshield meets the dash and A pillar. Haven't found it yet. I just turn up the radio 😅. I'm used to it now, this isn't a luxury car.
that has been my fix too, hopefully I can find everyone a solution
I think I've had noise in that area but never while driving. Maybe I'm lucky in my '22 Limited?
Rattles suck but everyone doesn’t experience it. My 24 is quiet. My past cars, Audi and VW, had rattles.
I have a 2023vb limited and I don't get those crazy noises you say at that level. Like is not a luxury premium expensive comfortable german car and you gotta have that on mine while driving it, is not going to be as quiet on a highway. I get the wing noise on the highway but I think it's proportional to the car you are driving. My family and me have had imprezas, legacys, foresters, the weird impreza outback sport, etc... I used to work as a driver swapping cars in between subaru dealerships all the time both brand new and used until last year (and also other brands but mostly subarus). To be honest I can agree with you I would have liked a little more foam to cancel the noises around the car, and maybe widers windshield and windows for comfort, but I feel like you are either over reacting or your car has a bigger problem regarding noises than mine.
You've owned the car a while, was it unnoticeable and came about now?
No it's been about 18 months in the making
I’ve had my 23 for almost a year now and I don’t have these noise issues. I’ve taken the door panels off and the front bumper and installed an AOS and I haven’t caused any new noises or issues
Same, my 23 doesn't make any noises.. idk... im happy
To make a video recording the sound, use 1980’s-1990’s technology so you can get on one of your videos.
Could changing any of the support mounts transmission or motor perhaps affect this? Positive or negative
Soooo I noticed a rattle on the driver side window pillar area. But the noise stops and comes back whenever it wants haha weird. Been like 3 months since I have last heard it now.
First, you have every right to complain, because it is your money.
Second, this why the primary reason why I sold mine, that and, the terrible suspension for a 36k out the door car (at the time).
It’s absolutely insane how this cars rattles and sounds like it is falling apart. Let’s be honest, this car doesn’t need to have these defects.. it’s a very loud car for sure that can hardly keep up with a new Prius..
And as a car community we cannot possibly be that fragile to criticize our vehicles, but yet again.. who is the biggest demographic that is buying these cars?
Coil overs, tune, foam in the rattle areas. Boom I just fixed all your issues lol
I get some noise by the front passenger door and I wonder if my speaker is blown, so I turn the stereo volume off and the sound is still there. I am okay with the noise, just glad I didn't blow a speaker.
I bought mine with 7k miles on it and I’m glad to hear it isn’t just mine that is creaking/rattling. I haven’t chased mine down but it sounds like it’s coming from the bottom of the windshield against the glass in the middle. Maybe it’s just a sign of the stiffer chassis?
The rear view mirror is the problem. Next time if you encounter any creaking noise, try driving by holding the rear view mirror sturdly for 15-20 seconds and see if it goes away. I was clueless where that annoying creaking and rattling sound was coming from so one day I decided to hold the rear view mirror and yeah that was source of about 60% of the noise. Also the noise insulation in this car is probably the worst in the segment.. this car generally is too noisy but I have made peace with it..no choice 😂
You said it has a loud exhaust. I would think that that's the problem. My 2023 has a few minor noises but that's it. Once you start adding aftermarket stuff, it devalues the car. I can't believe you took your interior all apart. I would say that that's crazy. Get rid of the loud exhaust.
Maybe weather related? I have a 24VB not yet a year old and I live in Texas. It rarely ever gets below freezing here, but it’s very hot in the summertime. So far I haven’t got any noises in the interior. Does it happen in the warmer seasons too?
I don't own a VB WRX but I recommend you Get some sound deadening from Amazon, the Amazon basics or kilmat sound deadening is good I definitely recommend getting a roller to apply the sound deadening better since the rolling compresses it making denser it absorbs noise better. I did sound deadening in my impreza it made it so quiet on the interior it feels like a luxury car now in that sense I can't still hear the engine noises but the road noise is basically non existent. I'm not sure if it will fix the noises you're experiencing but it can't hurt. If you do decide to do the sound deadening I would recommend pulling out the interior apply it to the floor pan, roof, the trans tunnel, under the rear seats, under the rear shelf, the trunk, doors and the B and C pillars if you choose to remove the dash do the A pillars as well and under the dash. I didn't do the dash area because I didn't feel like pulling it out, my buddy even did sound deadened the fire wall and wheel wells on his XV I think he went over board but his XV's interior is definitely extremely quiet
I hate squeaks and rattles in cars but so far I have not really had much in my fairly early production '22 WRX Premium. At first the drivers side A pillar cover would buzz a little when it was warm out but it went away on its own. It is after all a lower priced car and not a bank vault solid Mercedes or Bentley.
Also what front lip are you running?
Only issue I’ve had is my seat squeaked and there is a remedy they did and it ended up working so ya. No noise really to report for me
My 23 hasn’t had that issue. Sound deadening videos would help. I remember I use to do this along on the plastics around the door seals on cheaper interior
Two noises I've noticed in my VB is the doors, as you mentioned, and the heater/ac fans making noise. Besides that, nothing else to report. Most of the sound is inaudible because I crank my music pretty high
fan noise?? is it a constant noise?
@AutoEnthusiast yeah, whenever I turn on the heat I get fan noise. Might have to point that out to the dealer next time I see them
@@AutoEnthusiast update to that: apparently the fan cover from the Crosstrek fixes it. Go figure!
Making a video of minor creaking noises noises means you have too much time on your hands
You know those Sticky Chair Pads you can buy at the store? I had the same issue. Cut small pieces, stick them in-between each of interior paneling where you are hearing the vibrations. For me, I put one between the where the windshield pillar, Meets the Dash. I am an Auto Collision Repair shop Manager. I've already silenced the interiors of 9 VB's in my community.
Its not your windshield. That thing is literally Glued in using Urethane.
After sticking a few of those pieces in various places inside my car, (I have a 2022, One of the first in California, bought April 2022), its been silent. A total of 3 spots -two up front, one in the rear Pillar Cover next to the back glass (vibration from my Catback).
I will give it a try!
It is all that plastic crap like the window deflector you glued on the car?
Have those same things and haven't had that noise.
negative ghost ride, also 10/10 recommend a set of rainguards for the function alone. Don't hate it until you try it. No wind noise driving, clearing interior fog, etc.
Sound deadening helps a lot. I have a Soundskins precut 4 door kit and a ton of Dynamat/soundskins/CCF in the inner door, door cards, trunk, under rear seat.
So I have access to two models. Mine a limited spt and my good friends premium 6mt.
The premium and limited are night and day noise wise. The limited is silent, you barely hear the engine. The premium is noisy, lots more road noise and tons more engine noise. Tons. It’s so pronounced how different sound levels are between the 2 it’s almost like they aren’t the same car. Given you have a base I’d say it has something to do with what model you drive.
You are not crazy. I hear it as well. I do not have a solution. I just try not to think that it's a bigger problem that'll cost money lol
So it is wind noise..? I get a lot of tire and wind noise but I don’t really have that issue. Except for cold starts, then you hear this Subie purrr
no no, I have next to no wind noise, it's creaking
Don't park the car in the sun for long periods of time especially day after day, put the car in your garage if you got one... the plastic warps in the sun after long periods time, thank me later
I thought you were gonna say rough engine start on a cold start my Fa20 forester does that pretty much 😅 sometimes for like the first 10 seconds then it goes away.
Also Have you thought about it, if the noise is coming from your rain guards too ?
My old legacy wagon had the problem with wind noise but was common due to frameless windows overtime.
these engines do all sorts of wonky things sometimes lol
2024 TR. No weird noises yet.
My 2024 WRX Premium doesn't have that problem
You have weather/rain shields on the window, maybe that's where the problem originates from. I have a 22VB, haven't heard a single peep, or rattle from it. Maybe you're simply running out of content to make?
negative on the rainguards. And thanks for the comment lol, definitely not the case. But maybe you are running out of comments?
@AutoEnthusiast 🤣 running out of negative comments... In this day and age? Nah... They are easier to generate then positive ones... Just like positive content 😇
Damn... I have a '23 limited with 24,000 miles and have zero rattles and squeeks.
I'm also running aero all the way around with rain guards on the windows, all from AFD.
nice, you are lucky. Good luck with the aero lol!
Hope you can figure it out. My 24 SOP is still good, thankfully.
22 here…Mine doesn’t have those issues
Never had that on my 23 premium.
I'm sorry you are having this issue, I know how crazy it can make you. My 2024 makes no such noises, thankfully. You say you've heard the problem in later years? It's my understanding that the 2022 is different from the 23+ vb in that the 23+ had some changes made to make the car more sturdy and quieter. I certainly hope my car doesn't start making the noises.
I was in a 24 the past weekend and the sounds were awful, seems like a roll of the dice
My dash is creaking over bumps with only 29k miles.
like the entire dash?
@@AutoEnthusiast no the creaking noise seems to be coming from the center area of the dash. I haven't had time to narrow it down yet. Also there is a metallic rattle over certain bumps coming from the glove compartment when its closed. When I open the glove compartment then the rattle goes away. Please let me know what you find out. It's annoying me too.
I only have 1200 miles on mine so far, but I'm really paranoid this is gonna start any day. I know it's only a matter of time, but there are things that can be done to prolong the inevitable. Dodge potholes, don't slam doors or trunk, basically try to minimize vibrations. This is more of a prevention method Rather than a fix, and it isn't gonna prevent it forever.
Also, yeah this might be a first world problem. But it's OK to have first world problems. We have a stigma against complaining about these things, which is understandable because it shows we understand others have things much worse. But other people's more unfortunate circumstances doesn't mean things likecthis aren't valid. And complaining/opening discussions about things like this is how the problem will get solved
I appreciate the comment, honestly the noises started really early for me and got progressively worse. You might be already passed the window and completely okay!
I just can hear my exhaust 👌🏻
Boost & shutter might be able to help. A great video. I haven't experienced this discrepancy with my 2017 WRX or my now 2020 WRX/STI. 😊 Subies forever.
What is that horrific looking head unit display thing, holy crap.
welcome to the base headunit, I am actually a fan
My stock base model 23 has no creaks
I'm going to comment because I can't relate, sorry. I live in CA and I like having my windows down, and I already have bad tinnitus in my right ear. I never understood the interior noise issue because I've always own old economy cars. I do listen for mechanical issues and issues with the suspension or brakes, but interior noises don't bug me. I didn't buy a luxury sedan I bought something to tinker with that will get me from point a to b with a little bit of fun.
My 2022 are doesn't make those kinds of noises. Maybe I was just lucky.
Take taking the vent shades off.
Will be covered under bumper to bumper
Really? lol take your exhaust off and most of the noises go away. Also try urethane bushings 👍🏽
can confirm I have zero exhaust noises other than the exhaust itself
@ it's resonating and causing more interior noises then the factory exhaust.
I think you just took the car apart too many times, and now you hear the problems you created.
well the logic loop there is flawed....noises so I take the apart the car. Time travel would be cool though!
Not even my 2015 sti makes that much crick
I genuinely think the STI's don't have the issue, like they make sounds but they aren't as bad
Absolutely 💯
I think mine is more from the stearing column or the head unit area. Its so damn annoying. My VA doesnt even sound like this and its 7 years older and sitting on BC's
Mine is over any small bumps though. Cruising at speed you are good.
So much yapping for what could’ve been a 2 minute video
Solid rant! Haven’t figured it out yet, and have been searching the same way! Sometimes feel
Like the front widow is almost leaking at high speeds 😮
^^exactly. Talk about high speeds problems, I get some hood float at high speeds haha
@ yes!!! I have tried messing with the rubber stoppers and that has helped a little but literally looks like the hood is going to fly off at high speeds
