That's being neurodivergent for ya - people either shit all over you because they don't know why you're slow, awkward and clumsy and double down if you tell them because then you're a "snowflake" as well as a r---, or they treat you like priceless bone china or a small timid animal which can't be allowed to escape. Russell is one of those rare brilliant people who don't have to live it to get it. ❤

And I agree so much with Russell about the snort!! It's delightful and "that's when you know someone's having fun... because you don't want to do that *snort again* !!" His rapport with everyone-probably honed MOST from talking to kids who keep him on his toes more than any dulled adult (even a brilliant one) whose brain has settled into a comfortable spot of adequacy! Kids by nature are digging into anything like a sharp drill going through layer after layer of tree bark then finding the next thing to dig into nonstop, batteries recharging with a giant konking out nightly! All these years of improving his ability to almost keep up with the wit of beautifully sassy clever kiddos made him the best person possible to interview her! This was REALLY a priceless couple of clips we're fortunate to be able to watch!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Greta is an amazing person. This is the best interview of her I’ve ever seen. I’ve learned so much about her. The way that Russell treats Greta is so inspiring to see. He's clearly a person who can make those with anxiety feel comfortable and he's so respectful of her throughout that you can tell she gets to be way more comfortable than she's used to.
It's amazing that she pushes through the anxieties that she feels to stay engaged in this message but it's such a feather in Russell's cap that he can make space for someone like her to be open and feel comfortable.

Greta Thunberg like a reincarnated old soul, deeply too wise for her years, gave me chills when I first heard her in major news confronting world leaders with her steady eveness and cold seriousness. She was a child speaking truthful warnings without fear in omninous tones that for some unknown reason made her credible. It was as if an extraterrestrial had suddenly materialized before the whole world and believably said, your world is about to end.
The young lady still has that steady eveness, still seems maturely far too wise for her years, and seems like an especially rare, deeply wise and conscious individual in the world.

      How about climate catastrophe?

    • @viewfromthehighchair9391
      @viewfromthehighchair9391 Рік тому +1

@@Maknassar I had considered that one and appreciate your responding to my comment. It's not bad for sure; however, I'm currently thinking about "Uninhabitable World Level Event" and leave the climate part out. Most humans are egocentric and think that a couple of degrees higher or lower won't affect them directly and this is true; however, it's what those few degrees do to everything else on Earth that is the issue.
If the average temperature goes up two degrees on average and that melts the ice caps (north and south), then some percentage of livable human (and animal) space disappears underwater, then that WILL affect humans negatively unless. of course, they really enjoy swimming and like their skin permanently shiveled.
There is a choice to be made by humanity; either continue down a road to almost sure extinction along with most other species or make efforts to soften our negative influence on the only world we know and develop and adopt cleaner ways to run our lives. The choice seems easy to me; however, I was encouraged to read, study and accept facts and it appears not a great percentage of humans have been encouraged in the same way. SAD!

I'm also glad we got to see a more humane side of Greta and what challenges she has to face besides carrying on with her private life. I for one believe that people pushing one agenda will eventually lead to many more people pushing in the opposite way as we are now seeing transpiring before our eyes. One thing for sure is people won't change their ways if it means giving up certain comforts we're now accustomed to or just being able to get by financially. Eventually though the world will get much worse before it gets better and if the struggle for energy eventually leads us to nuclear war well I know which one I'd prefer.

As someone with both ASD-1 (Aspergers) and ADHD, I can tell you that the social issues come in most frequently when the level of emotional signaling in the brain is arrested. This happens naturally to some degree with spectrum disorders due to slow development of the Pre-frontal Cortex of the brain.
In essence, we're all somewhat more dispassionate than "neurotypical" people, but the amount varies greatly. There are many people on the spectrum you would never label as such from behavior.
When we have dual conditions (or the spectrum symptoms to indicate some crossover) the arrest tends to be more severe, adn the social challenges as a result also. But as a general rule, the benefits of having a less social, less tribal nature are, to my experience of more than fifty years, far greater than the drawbacks.
Having said that, we have to deal with other issues, like low dopamine and the ensuing depression and anxiety, too, so it certainly has its downsides. Generally, if I had to some up the difference, neurotypical people "filter" their thoughts first through their emotional defenses; this exhibits as "bias," or "belief" or "ideology", a need to group with the like-minded for the "strength of numbers," to quell neurochemically derived anxiety, fear of the future unknown.
Autistic people tend to filter their thoughts first through the perspective of comparing and contrasting what is already known, or a desire to know more, because we don't have the surface-level emotional triggers to seek out that tribe.
When an autistic person loses their shit, it's usually because they've felt badly maligned, for irrational reasons. Often, if young, it's because we don't recognize the deep passion neurotypical people hold about (often quite silly) subjects, and that our criticism, or neutrality, and/or lack of support triggers them.

She's mainly hated by people who don't believe we need climate change. Especially when she first appeared in the media she was pretty young and its easier for them to dismiss her opinions when she was a kid. It sucks because she's absolutely right and those twats in power just won't admit to it

I really really enjoyed this interview and your time with Greta Thunberg because I have become so used to having her talked about and treated as if she is so serious (and that is definitely warranted) but it is very refreshing to see how she is also just a 19 year old woman who is capable of laughing and having fun and enjoying life with humour. I do not think that i had ever seen her so much as the rounded person she is and not just as the very serious person she has become in this very complex and critical climate crisis we are facing for our planet. I love the show in general but this was a very special treat indeed. Keep up the good work!
