Ahhh Cosford. A BRILLIANT place and also a great day out if you're stuck for something to do. We took one of our Grandkids there a couple of weeks ago (it seems to be becoming somewhat of a tradition) and he absolutely loved it, as did Mrs Rap as well, surprisingly for me!! The best thing is... IT'S FREE!!!!!
@@garethonthetube It IS. In a way it's a bit of a shame that kids can't actually see them in their full glory though. Being inside I kept thinking that our 5 year - old Grandkid would have trouble actually comprehending that he was standing under just ONE aircraft (the Vulcan). When the Victor first got there before renovation to it's condition now it was outside one of the hangars and we actually got IN it (well, we could that particular day, just by fluke really). Seeing it outside you get a full appreciation of its actual scale.
@ 00:56 the 2 seat 'VAAC' Harrier was the aircraft used to develop many of the key avionics for the F-35 programme and especially the F-35B and was a key asset to the JSF programme run by the Americans. This QinetiQ aircraft was carrying out fully automatic STOVL landings in 2005 and Shipborne Rolling Vertical Landing (SRVL) that is now being used by RN / RAF F-35s on the QE carrier. This aircraft flew off the French Charles de Gaulle and HMS illustrious from as long ago as 2007 developing SRVL. It also developed a key avionic advance for the F-35 in 2002 with 'Unified Flight Control' which allows the pilot to select up, down, faster, slower etc and the onboard avionics do the hard work. Don't let anyone tell you the UK didn't have a massive input into the development of the F-35 and especially the F-35B because this Harrier proves we did.
Would have liked longer look at each aircraft at the start, yes I can use pause but my screen dulls down & blurb is over it. Nicely filmed, is done by phone camera? Falcons fantastic display, it felt like they had a engine on their gear as they moved about like Spidey!
Britain is the country where the industrial revolution first happened. A wonderful country that uses old cars and aircraft for a long time. Japan does not extend at present.
