    I had to subscribe. This video, is not just a review, but also a work of art and showing what possibilities one can create. I have a 6000 and trying decide in Tamron 17-70 and this one. Stunning shots, color is rich and full, image, quality. Makes me think if I rush out and buy, I too can have results like this. Great work, excellent presentation. 4:40 is Sigma 1.4 starting to fall apart during the low light? I thought it would perform better. 18-50 looks more pleasing and sharper.

    • @VilkanVisions
      @VilkanVisions  2 роки тому

      Not exaclty, it was hard scenerio for AF, low light, back lit and slog3 so they both have hard time to choose what to focus on, but if you have faster lens then less will be in focus, with 2.8 even if it misses focus it's more forgivable because more will be in focus. I should set my focus area on left-upper part of the image then there would be no issues like that but I was in hurry and didn't thoght about that :)

    I was debating on getting the Tamron or the Sigma for my ZV-E10 as well. I have no issues with holding a heavier and bigger lens but my gimbal (Crane M3) wont be able to handle such payload hence having to settle with the Sigma.
    I'm really keen on seeing how you work with the footage coming from the ZV-E10 and Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 for low light scenarios. I was honestly surprised to see less noise than I anticipated.
    Thanks for the review also, very useful stuff right here.

Been comparing this to primes to see if the extra aperture is worth it or if bumping the iso with 2.8 would suffice and you've shown that it can definitely get the job done Makin me harshly consider this over the primes. i just got my zv-e10 with the kit lens for daily vlogging, and maybe some cinematic shots with the catalyst browse.
    tempted to buy this over sigma 16mm, but.. 18mm of this vs 16mm of kit lens? wider is better. Yeah it has constant apperture, but you dont really care about aperture changing when vlogging.
    and for low light, ill just use the sigma 16mm.
    what do you think?

    • @VilkanVisions
      @VilkanVisions  3 роки тому +1

      For walk and talk vlogging sigma 16 or Samyang 12 f2 seems to be the best options in my opinion :) With longer selfie stick you could get away with 18mm too, depends what look you like etc. Of course with wide prime you loose ability to zoom for some close ups so it depends on your needs :)

    I am deciding upon the first lens to buy for my first camera, which is Sony a 6600 and I keep switching between Sigma 1850 and Tamron 1770. The advantage of Sigma is clearly the size and price, whereas the Tamron is giving me extra focal length and vibration compensation for some extra money which is not a problem for me. The main issue I have is since this is my first camera and I am starting out, I am afraid if I buy a heavier setup I might be less reluctant to get out and shoot which is ultimately very bad for photography. Any photography, whether someone is starting out or someone is a professional I guess. The Sigma being smaller will encourage me to shoot more. But this Tamron being stabilized and with longer focal length will give me better shots and more composition options. Let's see which side I move on to. Ultimately, as I'm still going through UA-cam reviews and comparisons. I hope. To see more videos and maybe if you can arrange a Tamron 1770, perhaps you could do a comparison with this Sigma 1850. Is it possible? Thanks for this video. By the way. It made me lean a little more towards the Sigma.

    • @VilkanVisions
      @VilkanVisions  2 роки тому +1

      You're welcome. I don't have access to Tamron unfortunetly, I bought Sigma with my own money so I can only compare them from what I saw in reviews. The question is what are you plan to shoot? I personally didn't need that much reach, I don't shoot wild life etc. I prefer wide angles, so 50mm on the long end is enough for me and if I need more reach I can always turn on active stabilization which will give me more crop and stable footage :) From what I heard stabilization is not that great on Tamron so I wouldn't focus on that but more on a size and reach when deciding between those two.

    • @VilkanVisions
      @VilkanVisions  2 роки тому

      It's not a problem for me, I use Catalyst browse if I need to add stabilization, but it all depends what and how you're planning to shoot. It will be different for example if you're using it for jobs once a week and different for daily vlogging, I'm not doing walking vlogs often so I don't mind using stabilization in post or gimbal if I need to. Most of the time I use this camera on a tripod to record my dance trainings so I really don't care about stabilization.

    I’m thinking about using this camera and lens to film in a dimly lit pool room with lights directly above each pool table. I play pool competitively and I’d like to film my matches from a tripod for 3+ hours at a time with an added vertical battery grip. What do you think?

    • @VilkanVisions
      @VilkanVisions  Рік тому

      Looks like you don't need to change focal length often so for that I would consider prime lenses, just choose the one that fits your needs, I recommend sigma 16, 23 or sony 15 if you want wider shots.

    • @MagicMikeBilliards
      @MagicMikeBilliards Рік тому

      @@VilkanVisions Being able to change the focal length would be nice considering I may not be able to get the perfect distance away from the table due to space and a variety of different pool rooms. That’s why I thought the 18-50 would be great. And if this is the case, would it be worth it to get that lens or just stick with the 16-50 kit lens that comes with it?

    I'm planning to get the Tanrom 17-70mm, my another upgrade is the Sony FX30 and my ZV-E10 will be my B Cam. Do you recommend the Sigma 18-50mm over the Tanrom 17-70mm? Considering the price range between this two lenses.

    this is an amazing review. keep them coming. love how your reviews are so different from others. also, being a dancer myself, i was planning to get the ZVE10 as my first camera to top up my social media content quality (on a budget ) and for my first lens, i am having a tough time choosing between the sigma 16mm and the 18-50mm. i record myself usually on a tripod, outdoors 90% of the time. i'd definitely like to be able to film in the night in the city with the neon street lights. i also do short travel films as well on some occasions. so if i choose the 18-50 f2.8 will i be losing out on lowlight capabilities? because your low light examples have me thinking otherwise. u really pulled off lowlight well with the f2.8 lens. so do i really need the 1.4 if i want lowlight or is the 2.8 good enough?
    i don't know if should sacrifice range or sacrifice low light capabilities :/
    do let me know what you'd pick if you were in my situation as you're an amazing dancer as well 😁
    cheers!

    • @VilkanVisions
      @VilkanVisions  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you! It's a tough choice, for dance videos like you decribed I would go with Sigma 16mm and for travel videos 18-50mm, so you have to choose what is more important to you and what you plan to do more often :) If I record my dance I prefer to take my 16mm and for traveling and family photos I take 18-50. Of course 2.8 is not bad for low light but you wil still get better results with 1.4 lens and I also prefer wider lenses for recording dance moves :)

      @@VilkanVisions aghhhh i know that i couldn't go wrong with either lens but having to choose is so hard. i could maybe pick the sigma 16 and make do with the 16-50 kit lens until i build up more of a budget i guess! eitherways, if i go with the sigma 16 prime, then does the clear image zoom feature in the zve10 give a descent zoom range for video? and also have you been able to crack your way in with getting better footage out of the zve10 kit lens? if so please do share your settings and methods for them too!

      Clear image zoom is 1.5x so it's usable but of course you will not get the same results like with optical zoom. I bought zv-e10 body only without kit lens, but I did use it with my a6000 couple years ago, with good lighting it's good enough.

    A jak ze stabilizacją w takim zestawie? Myślisz, że to wystarczy jako pierwsza kamera do pierwszych projektów?

    • @VilkanVisions
      @VilkanVisions  Рік тому +1

      To zależy co i jak się kręci, czy z ręki, na statywie, czy na gimbalu. Zakładając, że chodzi o kręcenie z ręki to ogólnie są dwie opcje, stabilizacja Catalyst Browse w postprodukcji - bardzo dobre efekty, ale trzeba poświęcić dodatkowy czas na renderowanie. Druga opcja to stabilizcja w kamerze, ale jest spory crop więc trzeba używać szerszych obiektywów. Ja stabilizuje w CB jak kręce z ręki i mi to wystarcza, zwłaszcza przy dobrej technice.

    I have a very cheap solution to very steady handheld footage: just buy a ceramic brick or concrete brick and stick your camera to it. Or anything heavy... The key is weight, that's all. That's why those film cameras are so steady. I caried a 35kg Arri535 for years...
