Kids should be able to go outside and have little adventures, explore and just have fun. Because of this crime, parents are going to be even less likely (understandably) to let them do what kids have done for centuries. It's terrible, it's beyond words. So very sorry for the families of these two girls.

I agree. I wish kids could be able to just go outside and play. Allowed to be kids. Sad and troubling that there's evil like this man that makes it hard for parents to fully think it's safe and ok to play outside.

When I was her age my parents told me stick close to my friends because of safety in numbers, that was in the early 1970's. Nowadays it's not safe for kids to go anywhere without supervision because of all the sicko's out there.

Food labels, letters he was able to write home, etc. I’m not sure if he was treated better than some because he was military and not just a WWII European Jew or not. Got a feeling RA's wife hung up during the confession convo because she was protecting him. She probably hung up so he couldnt say anymore as she knew their convo was being recorded and their convo could have been full of "huh?", "what?" for him to confess to her a few times in that convo. I believe his confessions, I dont think he confessed due to mental illness and I think any mental illness he may have (or may not if he is faking it as many do) is due to being caught and not from guilt. He lived his life just fine after he killed those poor, innocent girls. Im also sick of hearing "hes lost weight due to his poor mental health". Cases in small towns are actually really hard to solve for this very reason.
People can't correlate the fact that the murderer lives amongst them.
These are the people they are comfortable with and familiar with, known all their lives.
They conclude that the offender cannot possibly be one of their own. It _has_ to be an *outsider*.
Its a cognitive dissonance of sorts, and the very reason why the Wife/Family didn't recognise him either.
It's also why rule 101 of investigating is to clear the ground beneath your feet first before looking further afield.

If they would have followed up they would have had him a lot sooner and they would have basically come out with all this evidence they came out with recently but it would have only taken maybe a month or two. They apparently have his gun that he ejected an unspent round from. So that means they had a bullet and the guy's name from the beginning. Check the database for gun owners in the area and basically his name's going to come up again. There's so many times that his name should have come up. Besides, in the recent pretrial hearings the Defense conceeded they had no evidence to place any of the alternative suspects that they had mentioned in the area on that day and no evidence connecting them to the crime scene.
Ron Logan was also thoroughly investigated and cleared,
And both Kleins were confirmed to be at home on the day.
If anyone else is involved its the loose affiliation of other bad actors by way of shared CSAM source (hence details of investigation is still sealed, its an ongoing investigation),
But no proof of anybody directly linked to one another or anybody else at the crime scene.
....And if that doesn't convince you, then if more than one person was involved, don't you think they would have done a better job?
Hide the bodies? Dispose of the evidence? Not allow the girls to make a run for it? Actually carry out the SA?
Nope, just the work of one man imo.
Especially as he would have instantly rolled and got off with a kidnapping charge instead of double homicide if he offered up his accomplice. Esp in a death penalty state.

He did the same thing after he saw himself from the phone of one of the girls on the news ... he checked himself in a mental hospital ... because of hyper anxiety.
Yes ... they knew the call was monitored and taped ... that's why RA's wife finally hung up ... not because she was mad but because she realized what was going to happen and was protecting him. She has been by his side through this whole thing. The reason it went as far as it did was because they got hyper emotional and needed to talk and wasn't thinking about anything else ... but lost in the moment.
After that ... he got hyper anxiety and has not talked on the phone since. He even panicked to the point of eating paper.
