@@DarrenMostyn Darren, in case of interest, I just discovered that Resolve 17.4.1 has taken a huge step forward for grading HDR as it supports HDR viewers on Apple's Pro Display XDR and the new M1 14" and 16" MacBook Pros. I know we discussed this effect in general terms, really glad you took it on for a tutorial because I have been using this for awhile now and your explanations and examples here has given me some insights and information that I hadn't considered. I had been using it ( as you said in your video here ) to bring life to landscapes ( natural landscapes like mountains and forest etc. ) I often get people in the FB forums asking about grading drone footage, which sometimes is spectacular but lacks depth. So I had been suggesting texture - especially in mountainous terrains - it can "chisel" out the rocks and bring new depth to footage. I hadn't considered using it on skin, great idea. My main reason for interest in the texture OFX was from studying oil painters as a practical and historic use of texture and light - artist such as Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Rembrandt and others showed a 3d effect by the use of brush or knife to create texture for depth In oil painting, detail is heavy in brush strokes and the further away something is supposed to be it is almost a wash or giving it a watercolor look. Pushing the texture toward mids and highlights which already are then associated with being closer, emphasizes the sharpness, and lens focus to draw the eye to the subject. Getting the info on these OFX is really helping a lot of people. Thank you for taking them on. Even people that work with Resolve all the time, need this information and appreciate them.Sometimes these effects can take a large amount of time to figure out all the uses, and techniques. So your video and your perspectives really help new and experienced users equally and are appreciated by all. Do you know where I can find some information. I am processing sounds in audacity (wave, 44100) and tries to syncrhronize them in Resolve with sync clips and in edit, I swiitch with multicam clip angle to use the audacity sound that I want to synchronise. The main problem that I have is when I am export it in MP4 AAC bit Depth 24 Bus 1,constant bit rate and 320 kb/s, the sound is more staurated and the noise is basically very "loud". There is huge diffrence between the sound level in audacity and the sound level of the exported video after the sync in resolve (17.4.1). I am working with a Mac mini M1 Sorry for my English. But if you have a link about this kind of problem it woulmd be helpful. Once resolved, I will use all the tips that you shared about colors, mask, texture etc. Anyway once again thank you for sharing all your art and unbelivable technics.
Hi. Thank you for your kind words. I am a colourist and editor so in depth sound is not my area of expertise. There are some UA-camrs who go into good detail on sound. Hope you get the answers you need. All the best, Darren
awesome thx
No problem!
Sexy stuff, definitely using this in future. Now to watch that magic mask video!
OK, I can handle that. Sexy Stuff it is!
Thanks u!
You're welcome!
What's a CST?
Color Space transform (CST) will allow you to change from one color space to another, and deal with differing camera profiles and tone mapping on one timeline.
