Good info.
Plus it makes us older guys feel a little more secure. Lol great video
Nothing like saying you have manual lockouts lol. Thanks for watching
It literally takes one time where you or a friend has an actuator fail when you need it and your tune will change on having the ability to do it manually
Just be sure to manually rotate these locking hubs at least once a month. They will start to stick, and without a pair of pliers, will be very difficult to lock, and or unlock!!. A little can of wd40 will also keep things free around the hub. Happy 4 wheeling all!!
@@freespirittransport5139 very good point. Exercise is always good
Seems like this really only matters if you go off-roading a lot or deal with heavy snow on a regular basis.
Could be. But i use 4wd daily to prevent the yard from being torn up. Just hooked up a trailer yesterday after a big rain. It was goshy and it spun a tad. Quick shift to 4wd and you do the job with no grass marks.
Thats actually exactly how i found out rhe left hub was failed. I was hooking up on wet grass, spun, put it in 4 and still spun lol.
I wanted people to know how their hubs worked and dispel some myths. More extreme uses of 4x4 would be extreme terrain but honestly i use it all the time on soil and grass so i dont dig or leave marks
the tremors still get the manual locking hub on the passengers side. non -tremors only get the drivers side manual locking hubs on 23-24 models.
Mine is a stx and ended up with both hubs
My 23 has them and isn't a Tremor so that's incorrect.
So must just be 24s than.
@timtroia3785 yeah, I saw another video on here that said they are all like that for 2024. You have to buy a hub and 1 or 2 vacuum lines to switch it
Tremors have a Torsen front differential. They need to unlock both sides for 2wd
I have a 2024 Fx4 Lariat. It does not have the vaccum tube that runs from the driver side, but instead it Ts off into the diff from the drivers side. My question...Can I install the manual lockout hub on my passenger side to replace the dummy version so my hub is not always locked....w/o the vacuum line? My assumption is I would just have to manually lock it if I needed it? Thx

@Srmartin71 I did this, but the replacement vacuum line did not have the T-off into the diff. So confused on how to resolve that issue.
I have the part number for the vacuum hose that goes to the passenger side.Just replaced mine.HC3Z-3C124-A
I know there's manual locking hubs on the SuperDuty trucks, what about the F150's?
Back when they were straight axle and swing axle yes. They have had automatic disconnecting differentials for a long time. I know way more about chevy 1500’s being everything i know has wheeled them or owned them. Im pretty sure the mid 90’s plus f150 with true ifs has an electronic disconnect just like gm uses on their front diffs but iv literally never worked on those f150 so i could be wrong
I've been wondering what that was all about. My new truck didn't come with an owners manual.
Leave them in auto unless you get in trouble. Feel free to manually lock if you cant get them to lock or if you are doing something where you dont want any room for error
1988 for they actuator
from 1981 to 1987 gm had automatic front looking hub they were shit i had to put warn hub they were half the price of gm manual look
I didnt know that. Iv never seen them before. Were they an option? Iv been around alot of square bodies and i have an 87.
well every thing on a truck is an option you had two choice manual or auto they only came on 1/2 and 3/4 ton truck @@greatlakespowerstrokefx4
The Auto Locking Hubs like the ones he is talking about came on many divisions back then and into the mid 90's. You had to be in 4wd and rolling for them to lock in. Once you no longer needed them locked in you would shift back into 2wd and back up 10' or so to inlock the hubs. Not a good design but they did work somewhat well. Most people did switch them over to manual once they blew the auto hubs out. @@greatlakespowerstrokefx4
Manual shift on the floor 4x4 system never failed me. All this electronic shit today sucks. Ford needs to wake up and bring the shift on the floor back.
Never had issues you need to grow up
