The design of the blade reminds me of a needle. So maybe if the red lyrium idol blade has the ability to drestroy the veil (cut it into pieces), the counterpart is able to sew it back together. 😅
Such a little thing but I was so excited the moment I saw your thumbnail and new info about Dreadwolf. At this point I'm in a coma till summer, we neeed more🥺
What is interesting to me is that the blade had a red edge and a blue edge. This obviously referring to "the world teeters on a knifes edge". But the fact that it is blue and red makes me think it could be based more on our choices. Blue for pure lyrium and red for corrupt lyrium. Maybe referencing being able to influence Solas?
Hi! Peachy here! I was the one who originally found the icon back last year 😊super excited to see what the news brings and it's so fun watching everyone cover it and their own interpretations!
So, as I watched this video, I remembered one of Dragon Age Inquisition's DLC, "The Descent", where we saw a massive cavern of pure untapped lyrium, then we fought a blue Titan and then we were left with a lot of questions after what happened with Valta. Idk, maybe those things will finally be explained in the new game.
This is so exciting, even though it seems small but just the devs tinkering in the backend! I think that this particular icon seems to look like the icons that indicate certain fighting abilities in DAI and DA2. Perhaps if we mash Jackdaws theory and the fighting ability icon theory, it’s the icon for using the lyrium blade once the DAProtag gets a hold of it.
It will be an end of a journey waiting and watching your content leading up to the release of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf but still going to watch your videos nonetheless 👍
Man you making this video like...2 days after me and my friend was re-checking how long until the July reveal is-..I appreciate all the updates, but by the maker the WAIT IS FELT T-T
I tried DA inquisition twice. I didn't like the mechanics of the game. how movement was done was awkward on PC, and the skin graphics for character health felt blocky like from a 2000s video game, and the skin graphics for the equipment menus (loot etc) used fonts that were far bigger than necessary. It really felt to me in playing the game like it was a precursor to DA1 in play, although perhaps the cinematics were better. But the game isn't just about the cinematics, it's about the play first cinematics 2nd. so it really felt like a precursor.
If there ARE two blades, then I'm scared to death that the red blade will corrupt Solas (red lyrium future from DAI, anyone?) like, possibly, the other evanuris behind the veil. And we'll have to put all of them down like rabid dogs T_T Solas hates the Grey Wardens and how is he going to purify anything red lyrium without them? He's also said "i walk the din'an shiral, there is only death on thos journey" - which I take as further evidence that he'll corrupt and/or kill himself fulfilling his plans (which is why he left Lavellan behind - "i would not have you see what i become". God. I'm crying again.) I am so scared and anxious about this game and what they'll do with Solas. I'm desperately hoping there will be a way to redeem him. I don't think I'll be able to kill him, I'd rather stop and not finish the game T_T
Alright as soon as This game releases I gotta have arrange to buy golbal ea keys since I don't think they'll sell even tho the laws that prevented rhe sales of Inquisition are long gone ea to me is just dumb
Hey Jackdaw. This is my first time responding to one of your videos, so I'd like to begin with a thank you for your devotion to the franchise lo these many years! That said, we don't really need to think of this image as a second blade. We know a red lyrium blade is possible. We know Solas holding a blade up to the fade is possible; we've been teased. So, what does Solas presumably have access to apart from the red lyrium idol with which to form a blade? What could perhaps stabilize the red lyrium idol enough to make it wieldable, to change its color so that it matches the teased cinematic, so that it matches this little graphic? Why, he presumably has access to the inquisitor's hand he severed, and the anchor thereupon. I think we might be looking at the one and only blade here, comprised of the red lyrium idol, made wieldable by the anchor from a severed hand. And, in the cinematic, Solas' blade is not red ...
Hi, I want to throw my tinfoil hat in the ring of conspiracies. Not sure if anyone else has the same idea, but I think the blade is the SAME as Solas' but purified through the trials that Rook will take on this adventure.
But it’s purple, not blue. Or am I crazy? So we know that DAD’s “color” is purple, right? What if someone has a plan to combine red and blue lyrium, in order to nullify the negative effects of the red lyrium? Either Solas could have this idea, or maybe someone like Dagna, and having that information could be a negotiation point between Solas and “Rook”. Just my personal tinfoil theory.
(also wearing my tinfoil hat) a "regular" lyceum blade could bring the dwarves in to play with them upgrading it, but what if a Titan also upgraded the blade, in fused its power...
"He went to each side, and told them the other had forged a terrible weapon, a *blade* that would end the war. He told the Creators it was forged in the heavens, and the Forgotten Ones, that it was hidden in the abyss. And when the gods went seeking it, he sealed them both in their realms forever." -- Merrill Did we forget this story, Jack? ;)
We didn't, I discussed Merrill's tale of Fen'Harel at length in my Red Lyrium Idol video - didn't want to take away too much from that video for those who watched. You can check it out for yourself here: ua-cam.com/video/C8HJ45W-d4I/v-deo.htmlsi=BM9LqzD1nkCDvA_c
I was thinking just now. The red lyrium blade is obtainted with the blight. What if not everyone can wield it but just a few chosen ones. Some people have a genetical resistance to the blight like the grey wardens who survived drinking the blood of darkspawn where lyrium also is mixed in. Maybe our hero is one of those few resistant to the blight who can use it without going cray cray like meridith did. (Meridith's crazyness showed signs of rabies crazy like ghouls do in late state. Tamlen the companion of the dalish warden comes to mind)
Well it makes sense that if Solas is at the level of power I seem to remember Tevinter Nights implies he is, that Rook has to have something to level the playing field. 🤷🏻♀️ Makes sense.
The great thing is we still have a bit longer to clown, but now we'll actually get new things to be excited about! I can't wait to see what they do for the reveal.
That icon looks kinda purplish to me and the theme colour of DAD was purple and blue+red=purple and purple is my fav colour and if its like the DAI icon does that mean we can harness purple light energy instead of green now with the mark?? Because I would LOVE that
Or maybe the lyrium blade is one way at the beginning of the game and is transformed into the other later........... Red to blue or blue to red......hmmmm. Lots of ideas here.
It looks light purple to me. Could it be a mixed blade? Red and blue? The splash color scheme is purple. My theory is he is going to sacrifice himself to blend the lyrium together to create something new that will allow all allies survival.
If you look close enough, there is both a blue and a red halo around the blade. Perhaps this means we can purify the taint inside the blade and turn it to regular lyrium again. That might be one of those narrative choices like Mages/Templars in DAI, where we get to see different plots and narratives depending on your choice.
I always love these little attention to details fans point out. My gods am I ready for a reveal. If it does come out the later part of year … RIP my social life … again … (last fall, BG3 stole me for like five months).
As the Lyrium blade wielded by Solas in the cinematic is not shown with red energy flowing around it, and the icon for the game in the database is also not a red lyrium version.. Does Solas maybe need to cleanse the blade before he can use it, and thus providing us with a way to cleanse red lyrium in Thedas?
I mean this maybe too on the nose but perhaps they both come together making a newish lyrium which is purple which the color has been used as the color for the logo. Purple and white. That's my tin foil 2 cents
Maybe its not a blade itself (in game) but a weapon we choose so a Warrior that wants to use a great sword can with it and a Rogue can use it as a dagger or a bow. I really hope it's not a plot device that lets us use all classes like sam was in mass effect andromeda.
So much positive talk about regular lyrium. Was this video sponsored by big lyrium corporations?! 😂 Don’t forget that handling it raw is dangerous, even to dwarves, over the long term.
😂😂😂 It's true, but you TOO can boost your Templar abilities with our FINEST package of lyrium, call 00-99-52015 today for a FREE sample of red lyrium with your package!
regular (not red) lyrium also is making ppl mad, like that one dwarf trader in orzammar in dao, i don't think making a blade of it would be a good idea. like it wouldn't be as bad as red lyrium, but also not great. there's a reason why only dwarves mine lyrium also even they can't do it for a long time. personally the blade on this icon look just white to me, which isn't exactly red either, but maybe it's just shining? but it's on the background of purple and gold, which seem to be the main color scheme of the game. it's nice to know that bioware is tinkering with it still, it gives hope that this game actually exist. also don't worry, when we can no longer clown about dreadwolf there'll still be dlcs or certainly some unresolved plots to speculate about
My guess is that you will start as a member of the The Friends of Red Jenny. The symbol, could be, it could also hint towards the purification of the idol/dagger, back to untainted Lyrium.
Just reminded that one of the pieces of idol if given to our greatest dwarven "enchantment"er can be used on a weapon. I wonder...what happened to that piece?
Definitely in agreeance with others saying trophy icon. But for some reason gives me idea of a specialization trophy, or maybe a trophy for beating a certain boss or something
summer includes two game reveal events - Summer Games fest hosted by Geoff Keighley and Xbox Summer Showcase. Unless EA decide to host an EA Play Live event for the first time in three years it's going to be revealed at one of these.
Dreadwolf has the slowest development of any AAA game I can recall(without changing studios during development anyway) and this is probably make or break for BioWare. There’s no way EA keeps BioWare around if Dreadwolf flops. They’ll just shutter BioWare and distribute their IPs to other EA studios to make mediocre games until the franchises are completely dead and buried.
it looks like an achievement icon
The design of the blade reminds me of a needle. So maybe if the red lyrium idol blade has the ability to drestroy the veil (cut it into pieces), the counterpart is able to sew it back together. 😅
That's a really cool idea actually
Such a little thing but I was so excited the moment I saw your thumbnail and new info about Dreadwolf. At this point I'm in a coma till summer, we neeed more🥺
Considering Dragon Age has been over a decade since Inquisition, it's good to hear something is happening. Dreadwolf has been in limbo for that time.
I can guarantee it's gong to be delayed
I am looking forward to this. I think Solas will get the Idol the minute you create your character
Thank you for your findings - it's so cool, equally as excited to see what it turns into!
PURPLE LYRIUM IS THE ANSWER!
is it done yet? I'm getting old LOL
We're a month away from Summer Game Fest 2024. I hope Bioware announces when exactly the reveal is going to happen.
What if the blade takes the shape of what ever weapon your chosen class uses?
Man we really need that full reveal. Good catch but we be running on fumes here
This is so exciting, even though it seems small but just the devs tinkering in the backend! I think that this particular icon seems to look like the icons that indicate certain fighting abilities in DAI and DA2. Perhaps if we mash Jackdaws theory and the fighting ability icon theory, it’s the icon for using the lyrium blade once the DAProtag gets a hold of it.
red vs blue? and all the dreadwolf branding is purple?? hello???
My thoughts are that the blade is the one solas possesses but with the colour scheme that dreadwolf has been putting forward so far, purple and gold
LAMBOOOOOOOO - Hi
It will be an end of a journey waiting and watching your content leading up to the release of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf but still going to watch your videos nonetheless 👍
Man you making this video like...2 days after me and my friend was re-checking how long until the July reveal is-..I appreciate all the updates, but by the maker the WAIT IS FELT T-T
The lyrium blade is Rook's murder knife.
A blade a shear and a needle to stitch back the veil?
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I tried DA inquisition twice. If this is an achievement icon then I like it. It’s in the same style as Origins.
Dang how do I anti-manifest this? I don’t think my heart can take having to put Solas down like a rabid dog 😭
Alright as soon as This game releases I gotta have arrange to buy golbal ea keys since I don't think they'll sell even tho the laws that prevented rhe sales of Inquisition are long gone ea to me is just dumb
I really hope we get dwarf mages in dreadwolf.
I’m hoping we get a reveal at summer games fest. And a release no later than than November of this year!
Hey Jackdaw. This is my first time responding to one of your videos, so I'd like to begin with a thank you for your devotion to the franchise lo these many years! Admit it, BioWare kinda loves their red, blue, and green themes.
Thanks for another update jackdaw! So stoked about this game.. and i think this only adds to my excitement.. i love where they're going with this.
Hi, I want to throw my tinfoil hat in the ring of conspiracies.
Not sure if anyone else has the same idea, but I think the blade is the SAME as Solas' but purified through the trials that Rook will take on this adventure.
Exactly my thoughts. It has a blue edge and a red edge, which seems to indicate duality or the ability to choose paths.
But it’s purple, not blue. Or am I crazy?

I mean if you mix blue lyrium with red lyrium it’ll just turn the blue into red surely, it is darkspawn corruption afterall
(also wearing my tinfoil hat) a "regular" lyceum blade could bring the dwarves in to play with them upgrading it, but what if a Titan also upgraded the blade, in fused its power...
It almost seems that they are setting things up as 'Thedas vs the Fade'.
"He went to each side, and told them the other had forged a terrible weapon, a *blade* that would end the war. He told the Creators it was forged in the heavens, and the Forgotten Ones, that it was hidden in the abyss. And when the gods went seeking it, he sealed them both in their realms forever." -- Merrill

I wonder if the artifacts you activate will have anything to do with the veil coming down.
I hope at least the inquisitor will play a part in all of this
Seems like a really cool idea! Hopefully that's what happens!
Oh dear maker, I hope it isn’t red dagger blue dagger green dagger like mass effect 3.
😂😂😂😂😂 can you imagine
Could a red lyrium blade not be purged, of the blight.
Then, return to its normal pure state (pure speculation).
I was thinking just now.
The red lyrium blade is obtainted with the blight.
What if not everyone can wield it but just a few chosen ones.

Aw me too!

I will not miss clowning in the least lol it's worn out it's welcome, bring on Dreadwolf!!!

You would think Solas would know better. I guess he wants to become a red lyrium statue, like Meridith.

Red vs Blue daggers? Very indicative of a star wars battle. Jedi vs sith

I really hope it's not a plot device that lets us use all classes like sam was in mass effect andromeda.
“Blue lyrium blade” hmmm that’s purple, but okay
I swear to god if this icon is nothing but an achievement icon I’m losing my mind
This blade kill all Elven God and Ancient Magister
Solas got the blade in tevinter nights afaik, so he should already have it in the game
Here my hope that next game we have Felassan in it.
...with Gaspard around the corner😍
Hoping late 24 given the fiscal report for the release
So much positive talk about regular lyrium. Was this video sponsored by big lyrium corporations?! 😂 Don’t forget that handling it raw is dangerous, even to dwarves, over the long term.

Blue? It seems a more pinkish to me.
1:46 the blade is purple though...

I'm a friend too, get the word around.
I'm so excited!!
It's finally time.
Just reminded that one of the pieces of idol if given to our greatest dwarven "enchantment"er can be used on a weapon. I wonder...what happened to that piece?
so exciting, assuming that DA:D will be revealed at the summer game fest that means we are so close to the finish line
I love your clowning.

So, they're pulling a "Harry Potter's wand has a brother" scenario?
I'm not convinced this game is ever coming out.
And then you realise I'll maybe come out this year 😶
