I currently use the first gen. Echo dot coupled to my audio sound system for max range, but am interested in the Homepod minis for pairing in another room. Your comparison demo is the best so far of what I’ve seen on other tech channels. Many thanks for focusing exclusively on sound rather than Siri integration as most others have.
In England , we have to pay £99 for a nice mini Homepod , which includes a small charger, and the cable. That £99 includes the government's 20% Value Added Tax. So at the current exchange rate, the cost is about the same on either side of the Atlantic. .
The original HomePod is the way to go as far as sound quality. When I heard that they were going to discontinue selling the original, I went and bought another to pair as stereo and all I have to say is that the sound with both paired is AMAZING!!!
*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*
I own 2 HomePod minis and for their size they sound REALLY good. And what I love about the homepods is how it fits in with the furniture in my room as the standard HomePod just stands out too much
I think buying two mini’s make more sense irregardless of the price. With two you actually get stereo separation and / or option to fill the room better.
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
@Bswag Swag Where do you find one sold new? And does anyone know if they have mentioned whether they will continue support it with software for a while?
Hi tony i have them both. Although I love how the Mbp speakers sound, the mini does sound good enough to have it too. It has more range, especially bass compared to the mbp. It also fills a room better and it’s perfect for listening to podcasts or any voice focused audio. It’s also very light, so you can take it anywhere.
The HomePod sounds much better to be honest. I coudnt use it last week because of the WiFi, and only could use the MBP I almost went crazy because the sound is not as good.
It seems to me that these are almost two different products entirely. The OG HomePod is more of an audio product with some smart capabilities, whereas the Mini is smart home speaker with decent audio

I’m only going to add one Mini--its On order, due first week in Dec. Love my stereo original Homepods and use a cheapie Echo Dot in BR now primarily for radio, occasionally for music at. night but music is pretty poor on Dot-anxious to replace it.
I prefer the Mini’s sound, especially in pairs. It may not have the overall slam of the HomePod but the Mini’s seem more “balanced”. No one frequency range dominated over another like I heard in the HomePod. As long as you’re not trying the blast the Mini’s, I think they’re better for a more even and subtle sound while still giving you body and substance.
The thing I'm most curious about is the 'room filling' sound. When you walk away and move around a space, does the bigger homepod feel like sound is bouncing off the walls, and the mini's significantly more directional?
I just got my HomePod Mini and had the same conclusions as you. The Mini surprised me at how good it sounds. But I’d still pick a single Original HomePod over 2 Mini’s if I had to choose.
Speakers usually benefit from break-in time. Bass improves, sounds more relaxed. Speaker has a mechanical component -- the drivers move - hence the break-in time. Try 100 hours and retest.

In India, The Minis have been priced around $140. Considering only a $80 price difference between Mini’s and OG, I suggest all Indian users to go for the HomePod.
Thanks for the honesty, here in the states it (Homepod OG) still retails @ $500 (average). I can't bring myself to get the mini because I feel like regardless of what anyone says i'll be sacrificing sounds quality (mainly lows/bass) but the homepod (og) is too damn expensive! lol So i think i'll keep my current setup echo plus & echo subwoofer which sound amazing but I love everything apple.

First test, the HomePod sounded fuller - you could tell the difference. For the second track with the two minis, for a lot of the song they were very close. But when the bass went up, the HomePod definitely beat the minis.
That's a hard question, it completely depends on your needs! If you need an Apple Pencil for your work or creativity, go for that. If not, then it's more a question of which you will enjoy most: great speakers for music, or a stylus?
What about stereo separation / soundstage of the 2 minis. So many paired speakers do not do left and right stereo reproduction. Would appreciate your opinion on using the minis as nearfield desktop speakers. Tks!
I’ve got a pair of both and when you hear the original Homepods in stereo 😳 money well spent. The minis don’t sound bad at all and for a quieter environment the minis would be the way to go

For HomePod mini. I recommend putting it in a corner of the room, it sounds deeper and floods the room with a much larger amount of the music or sound.
What is the song you used in this video? It’s a really good one for sound tests
I found the titles to all 3 songs by going through the comments xD
- The 1st one: Joakim Karud - Classic
- The one used in their other videos as well: Where we started by Lost Sky
- The 3rd one: Surrender The Crown - Ready For A War
@@ZachAgape ahh thanks so much!!!
@@samuraiscience9887 you're welcome! :)
First test, the HomePod sounded fuller - you could tell the difference. For the second track with the two minis, for a lot of the song they were very close. But when the bass went up, the HomePod definitely beat the minis.
Make a comparison of M1 Macs with the 21 inch I mac
I am seriously early thanks to notification
Could see you are really busy
Good job Max
Could you test the HomePod Mini against the IKEA Symfonisk? Since they working the same ‚EcoSystem‘. That would be a great comparison
i want the second metal song ..what is the name so g
Where did you get those posters of the 35MM projector and movie camera?
Can you run the HomePod minis off a mac’s usb-c ports?
Can you connect to Spotify yet with the original HomePod? Plus you can’t connect to Bluetooth:(
Waiting on the review HomePod mini vs Amazon echo stuck which to buy
Plzz recommend me should i buy Apple Pencil 1 or homepod mini??.
That's a hard question, it completely depends on your needs! If you need an Apple Pencil for your work or creativity, go for that. If not, then it's more a question of which you will enjoy most: great speakers for music, or a stylus?
I don’t know how this channel get more recognition. Tbh I think it’s better than some of those “more popular” channels
So the best for the last m1 mac mini vs intel mac mini
Can you use 2 Home pod minis with the new Apple TV 4K for stereo sound.
What about stereo separation / soundstage of the 2 minis. So many paired speakers do not do left and right stereo reproduction. Would appreciate your opinion on using the minis as nearfield desktop speakers. Tks!
Got mine Monday. It’s amazing 😭 love it
Even though you paired 2 minis they can’t even passed the original HomePod
Can you compare it with $100 non-smart speaker?
What is the name of the second rock song? Sounds really cool and my shazam couldn't find the name ...
What’s the name of that edm song he always uses?
did you try creating more distance between the mini's?
@vadimyuryev will you pump out a new video with the new Homepod and some Apple TV eARC?
bro can you do comparison of Macbook Air with Pro
Yup video is posting in about 7 hours!
I’ve got a pair of both and when you hear the original Homepods in stereo 😳 money well spent. The minis don’t sound bad at all and for a quieter environment the minis would be the way to go
