I have to see the plane do a combat tactical landing.

That’s a great point-seeing the C-390 perform a combat tactical landing would definitely showcase its full capabilities! Its advanced systems and design are built for those challenging operations, so it would be exciting to see it in action under those conditions. Hopefully, we’ll get to see more demonstrations like that soon!

Looks like the perfect option for smaller air forces. My country, New Zealand, decided to buy the C130J to replace their ancient 60's vintage C130s in 2019, and they started arriving this year. When the selection process was happening, Embraer bid and purchased a giant ad for the C-390 they placed on a high-rise building visible from our parliament buildings, which I thought was amusing. I guess in 2019 picking the C-390 was a leap of faith compared to the safe C130 option, but in hindsight I think the C-390 would serve us better. Given the long lifespans we squeeze out of our kit, I expect it'll be 2070 before we need to replace the C103Js, maybe by then the C-390 or its successor will be the non-brain option.

Thank you for sharing that insight-it’s fascinating to hear about New Zealand’s decision-making process and that giant ad near the parliament buildings must have been quite the sight! You’re right, in 2019, the C-130J was the safer, more established choice, while the C-390 was still proving itself. But looking at the C-390 now, it’s clear how much it brings to the table in terms of efficiency and versatility. Who knows? By the time those C-130Js are ready for retirement, we might be looking at a whole new generation of airlifters inspired by the C-390’s innovations!
