This was quite interesting, I've not done much with double stops on fiddle, so it was quite informative. I love how the fifths tuning is so pattern based and easy to think about. Just a note, the double stop between the two D chords is a C, but could also be Em because it's an E and a G note. That also makes it a weak C chord unless there's another instrument, because the root note is missing. Between the Gs is an F, and the one above (and below) the C is a Bb, unless you move it up another half step. Ok that was long eish
Yes! Stuff like that. I didn't know the exact notes of that strangely hidden C, between the D double stops...but just realized it could be used as some sort of C...so thanks for the further info...Em would be useful too. I guess with only two notes, it's easy to use double stop "chords" as substitutions for various chords you'd need in multiple situations. Thanks for the helpful comments! There's so much to learn! So I guess anytime we need a minor 2nd from those types of shapes, we should find it between the two, wherever we are on the fingerboard.
@@groundhogpeggy yeah. I guess that upper D (and the upper G and C) is also just a third and fifth, so they also can be the minors, F#m for the D, Bm for the G, and obviously the C can also be Em. I'm actually holding my mandolin right now and I'm learning stuff just typing this. It's a lot of music theory stuff that can be helpful
Oh gosh, maybe I need to re-do this and come at it more slowly...was there any of it that was clearer than mud? Thanks for watching. Fortunately I just barely escaped burning the chicken...lol. One minute longer and who knows how bad lunch would've turned out!
@@groundhogpeggy it's me Peggy, I'm musically illiterate. I play by ear only. I really enjoyed hearing how you worked all this out. The process was fascinating to a simpleton like me. Change nothing!

Fascinating but you lost me after about 30 seconds. Enjoy your chicken and music is much better than cleaning the house.

No, it's brilliant. My fiddle playing friend watched it and followed it perfectly.
@@achnamara I might try to be more clear next time. Thanks for getting back with me.

@@achnamara I just put up a follow up video...trying to be a little more clear from the get-go...but it's probably even more confusing...lol.
