Alone On The Wall (2008)
Twenty-three year old Alex Honnold is taking the high-stakes sport of free solo climbing to new heights. Climbing truly massive walls without a rope, and zero chance of survival if he falls, Alex is calm and fearless (except when it comes to girls). But attempting the 2,000-foot wall of Half Dome, the greatest free solo ever attempted, would finally teach Alex the meaning of fear.
Honnold 3.0 (2012)
Alex Honnold has made a name for himself as the boldest free soloist in the history of rock climbing. But in this dangerous game, how does he balance pure ambition with self-preservation? From highball boulder first ascents to 5.13 free solos, from far-flung trad climbing adventures to speed records on The Nose, Honnold wrestles with this question in preparation for his biggest adventure yet - the Yosemite Triple. In under 19 hours he climbs Mt. Watkins, El Cap, and Half Dome all by himself.
A Line Across The Sky (2014)
The Fitz Roy Traverse is one of the most sought after achievements in modern alpinism: a gnarly journey across seven jagged summits and 13,000 vertical feet of climbing. Who knew it could be so much fun? Join Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold on the inspiring, and at times hilarious, quest that earned the Piolet d'Or.
Bonus Content: Excerpt from "The Sharp End" (2007)
A team of American climbers visit Saxony to sample the old world climbing area of Elbsandstein. Among the sandstone towers, they experience first-hand the infamous restrictive climbing ethics and permissive drinking antics in this former eastern-bloc region. One day at the crag, a young Alex Honnold steps into the limelight as he ropes up on a stunning yet terrifying lead.
Duration: 1 hour 35 minutes plus a 16 minute bonus feature - Спорт
"He can make anything happen." Strong statement Tommy, I think I believe you.
Im not a climber at all. But love watching him do this stuff he's a bad ass at what he does. I highly doubt anyone will ever do the things he's done the way he's done them effortless. Yet he worked so freaking hard to do them.
I just can’t comprehend this level of human capability and athletic and mental performance
As someone who has panic attacks, I can't even imagine how it would be like to freak out while standing on a fucking cliff. I'd probably jump to my death. This dude is out of this world.
I would just faint and fall off. He has balls of steel.
Another panic attack sufferer here and I completely agree, I feel the adrenaline would just push my knees to either buckle or just pass out
It's a known feeling called the "Call of the void". Search it up. People have the sudden urge to jump off at extreme heights.
bought this a few months ago. honnold 3.0 and alone on the wall were legendary. Those shots of him speed soloing were fucking insane. imo the triple crown is the most impressive part of honnold's resume. Such a good watch i would recommend it to anybody
Where did you watch those 2 films?
Never mind. Apparently it tells me to watch at Sender films
We all put ourselves in The Zone sometimes and deal with the problems/life threatening issues. For many of us, it is starting a family and taking on a mortgage. And for those like Alex, it is scaling sheer walls of stone where the slightest mistake spells death.
That scene where he says he is freaking out made me red line inside just watching.
Respect to him and all climbers.
Special thank you to the camera folks! YOU guys let us see!
THANK YOU!
I thinl my heart skipped a beat when he almost fell :D
"just a second im freaking out actually" im not sure how you pull yourself from that while remaining in the same situation, but that is beyond impressive.. I feel like most people at that point would either lock their knees and faint, or pass out from the adrenaline/fear factor. I want to be like this, to just be able to turn it off, i guess he has no choice at that point. Nonetheless its extremely impressive, few others are like this. Our special forces guys for the most part are all pure adrenaline junkies, they sprint through doors knowing there could be a tripwire or a dude with a PKM at the end of the hallway and they just turn off the fear. like a switch in their brain, but even for them this might be a bit intense...
watched the DJ Shipley episode huh
for the record that's a recreation of what actually happened. He describes in his book (Alone on the Wall) how he actually soloed the wall with no film crew for the first time and the actual freakout happened above Thank God Ledge and he's just doing it for the camera here. Your point still stands tho, absolutely amazing mental control!
...my hands start sweating when I see the thumbnail! Love these climbing videos...and I'm also a non-climber :)
I cannot imaging the feeling of standing on TGL, facing outward, with nothing more than a chalkbag
He's definitely a unique human...a one of a kind
I love this stuff.
Good job sir 🙏🙏🙏
Brave man walking!
What a guy
Alex is amazing at free solo climbing, I think he is the best period.
GREAT
How is he not dead?
I have run into burning buildings to save animals , been attacked and fought guys with knives twice, survived three marriages 😂 but get sick to my stomach watching this guy cling to a giant cliff of solid rock.
how the fk does he control his fear?
As far as i'm concerned he is the Greatest athlete of all times . mind blowing !!!
He’s a dead man climbing.
As long as he keeps doing it, soon or later a tiny misjudgment will happen, and then it’s only free falling.
@@annefilippobertozzi7601 Hell of a way to go, considering all the achievements he’s made.
@@tfan2222 i don't know and i can't get it. It's not as if you make a mistake you lose just a game or a season: i don't judge it, but really it seems too crazy to me.
@@annefilippobertozzi7601 well he’s now retired from free soloing and still living so he’s done alright
Word 👍
every single time I see @1:08 I spit my coffee. Every-single-time
hes not soloing there though
Never need to see that again
All the good times are behind us :(
when im going through ruff times i watch alex climb free solo and remind myself that absolutely everything is possible
No you don't
@@rudolphschmidt313 there goes the default hater, you guys are really everywhere 🤣
@@PARISONFIRE At least I don't make cringe made up UA-cam comments. Did I strike a nerve bc it's true?? 🧂🧂😋😋
@@rudolphschmidt313 its really true, watching him empowers me somehow
Dios o divino que les proteja 🙏 y fuerza 💪🏻 para todos ustedes que sencilla mente les bendigan 😍
What is the song on the honnold 3.0 part?
Si crees que puedes...puedes. esta es una afirmación errónea. no puedes hacer algo simplemente porque lo creas. pero creer que puedes te ayuda a hacerlo...con la preparación y las capacidades adecuadas.
They say the part of his brain that allows him to feel fear is totally wired different than ours. I heard they did a study on Alex and the results that came back were shocking! The man doesn’t get afraid like the rest of us
Ya, he's a sociopath.
No shit!? 😅 No need for a study here!
Anyone’s brain would become that if you free climbed for 25 years and faced your fears everyday
👏👏👏👏🤔
😨😨🤤🤤😲😲👁👍👏
Honald climbing In where's Waldo attire
“No hands knee bar” 😰😰😰
so rad is the new cool?
Always has been
lol, watching this movie made me scared... let alone doing anything like that
Oh, hell no!
una locura posible clinbing ; you speaking fast i not undertand the "dialogue"
I wouldn't underwrite him a life or health insurance policy.
Doesn't seem like that big of a deal.....
Sorry, I don't have enough chalk to get through these three video's.
first
tsk
unfortunately for you youtube sorts comments either by popularity or newer-first. Well done at being the last comment on the page
Get some help son.
Wtf
Over £15 a film. No thanks, you tube and netflix will do just fine until you get your prices inline with demand
I watched the Fitz traverse free on redbull site a couple weeks ago. www.redbull.com/int-en/episodes/AP-1MQAPEZX91W11
@@mojopin85 thanks for the link.
Cheapskate. Get a job.
You can follow my climbing route up half dome......just follow the shit stain trail, all the way up.
This is stupid and reckless. I don't like glorifying poor choices.
The shot of him standing frozen on the narrow ledge reminds me of how I feel trying to figure out how to take care of my family in the Biden era. LGB.
Lame
@@mesk412 Mega Maga lame.
@@Firedog-ny3cq I agree. Amazing rock climbers are cool. People who bring politics into literally any other topic are lame.
Do you like, have an addiction to politics? Can you go a day without inserting it into everything little thing? Are you mentally okay?
I suppose you're one of those who feel Biden is responsible for gas prices. You could take care of your family if you went back to school and got an education!
"That was scary"..... you're not fu*king wrong dude and I'm only watching it on a screen.
