    In this episode we convince my wife to let us build a fully adjustable “kid’s” climbing wall that is totally for kids and not for us in anyway. LoL Down below I'll leave a tool list if this is something you would like to take on yourself:
    1 - 4x8 plywood ¾ in
    3 - 2x4x8
    1 - 2x8x6
    4ft straight edge
    Sand paper
    2 1/2in screws (for framing)
    4in Screws (for studs)
    Hand Saw
    With the hole configuration I use you can fit 60 climbing holds: amzn.to/3tuWBv6
    Bolt hangers (with screw bolts): amzn.to/38YrznQ
    Locking carabiners: amzn.to/3eWgU0K
    1 old climbing rope or rope comparable in strength: amzn.to/2P8rxTi
    Drill: amzn.to/2P8rGWQ
    7/16 drill bit (climbing hold size): amzn.to/3c00Fxw
    Allan key (that can be attached to drill): amzn.to/3vFQ5DS
    Galvanized Star Shaped T-Nuts for Rock Climbing Holds: amzn.to/3s6od9K
    Durable Hardware for Rock Climbing Holds: amzn.to/3c1uxK5
    Well that about sums it up as always if you have any questions shoot me a comment and ill see you next week!

    Your Amazon Store link leads to a 32-pack of Topnew climbing holds and 2-inch hardware. For depth of climbing hold and 3/4" plywood, isn't 2" too long? And how do you rate Topnew's single hole holds versus competitor's with 2 bolt holes per?

    Hello! I'm building a climbing wall for my little sons and I loved your work! I'd like to ask, what's the difference if I place the "metal rings"(!) that hold the rope, directly to the wall with screws and anchors and not on a wooden board? Thank you!

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  2 місяці тому +1

      The wooden board going across the wall just insures the wall is anchored properly. By putting the board across you are anchoring that board into multiple studs. There should be a stud every 16 inches so that would be at least 4 studs holding the board to the wall which then holds your climbing wall. By just going directly into the wall you would probably be getting two studs, and your anchoring positions become limited as well.

    thank you very much. Could you please share a bit more detail about the anchor. i'm doing this for my daughter, that the wall would lean on brick wall.

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  4 роки тому +1

      Phan Thanh Hoàng No problem! If your are building it off of a brick wall you would need to use brick anchors and fasteners to mount the bored. However I wouldn’t use small brick screws that they sell I’d use bolts ( I’ll link it for you here) Or you can just mount straight into the brick that’s what I’d do! This all depends on the condition of the brick and cement strength you have..So it can be a bit trickier in that sense but if you have good cement it maybe really easy. Just drill the right sized hole and clean the dust out, hammer in the bolt, put on the hanger and tighten the nut. And your set.

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  4 роки тому +1

      It would have to be anchored to the and have hinges. One of my subscribers did do that so he can have some more climbing wall underneath. So yeah it is possible but you wouldn't be able to have an incline wall anymore.

    • @kapilagarwal9244

    Loved this. Thanks for showing us an alternative to building a freestanding wall. How tall is the ceiling in your daughter’s room? I’d love to try to build this at our house but our ceilings are kinda low - 8 feet - which is too low for some home wall set ups I’ve seen. Also, would this design be doable if we made it twice as wide? Or would it be too heavy for the rope when in an overhang position?

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Think the ceilings are 10ft. 🤔 As long as you beef up the anchors and use climbing rope I think you should be able to pull off a twice as wide version. I’m not to sure how the rigging would be exactly id have to hit the drawing board. But I’m sure it can be done.

    • @BetaClimbers

      Zack Wu yeah that should work as long as you have a couple inches of clearance at the top you should be fine.

  • @rowanhardy4203
    @rowanhardy4203 4 роки тому +1

    Hey man, great vid! My friend and I are building a wall twice as wide and a similar height and are intending to employ a very similar rope system to suspend it. Just wondering what the safest rope to use would be? Climbing rope, or something with a little less flex? Do you think that the structure might potentially need more solid support to have adults climbing all over it? Thank again!

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  4 роки тому +2

      If I was to beef it up I would use 10mm static ropes. Then I would use some 8 mm quick links and put lock nut past on the screw gates so they can’t come undone. Then those anchors would have to be really bomber too. Making it twice as wide would be tricky rigging wise. You couldn’t pass it 8xs think it would be to much friction. So I would then consider using pullies. Id probably use 7 pullies making a 7:1 system. 4 pullies would go on the wall attached to quick links then anchors and 3 pullies would be to the climbing board also with anchors and quick links. Of course this is theoretical just thought about it in my head I’d have to test it out hope that helps.

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  4 роки тому +1

      You might be Able to get less technical if the center brace for the climbing wall is very beefy so it couldn’t bend then just use two anchors on either side. Pull and lower one side at a time. And again just giving this a quick thought I’d have to test. Maybe I’ll turn this into a video.

    • @rowanhardy4203
      @rowanhardy4203 4 роки тому

      @@BetaClimbers Hey mate that's helpful. Yes the mounting wall is a concrete slab (wall) that is the same width as the climbing wall. Essentially, the rope will wrap around the entire wall and then connect back in the same starting place, threading through the top and bottom of the wall ( separate ropes). Does this relate to what you mean? Cheers.

      I'm imagining the anchor should be bit lower than 8ft to fit the kids mode, yet not sure where is the best place.

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  3 роки тому

      XCzar78 no worries! I placed the anchor board Just under the top of the 8 foot plywood this was just so it wasn’t an eye sore. The anchor bolts I place directly behind where I made the holes for the rope in the plywood. This is all going to depend on how your setup is so I can’t give exact measurements hope that helps. If you pull the board out (into kids mode) and anchor bolts are above the climbing wall because if that it’s not a problem it won’t go anywhere it will just rest in the ropes.

    Did you hammer the T Nuts into the board? How do you do that without splintering it? When you put the 2 1/2 inch screws through the climbing wall and into the supports how do you prevent the support 2 x 4 x 8s from splintering? I didn't quite understand the sandpaper bit. So you taped sandpaper over the step drill bit and used all of it to make big holes on the board for the rope? How did you get the holes so small when that step drill bit looks so big? Did you back off after a certain size? Is the backup rope meant to feed through the bolt hangers like the top rope? Do you have any recommendations on rope that would be good to use?

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  3 роки тому +1

      George the spikes for the back of the T nuts I just held them in place and gave them a tap on with a hammer just a couple times just so they started to bite down then I used the bolt to pull them in the rest of the way.. The screws I used had a bit of a self tapping point I think those help prevent splintering, you can drill pilot holes first if you are an perfectionist. For the sand paper bit I drilled a whole the size of the rope first then used the step drill to ad a bevel then used the sand paper to smooth the bevel out. I have added a upgrade to the hangers the rope now runs through some beefy (not to toooo beefy) quick links. I’d say any old climbing rope would work great. But I have had people send me photos where they used other types of rope. I’d say anything around 8 to 9 mm would be optimal preferably climb rope of course but if you find something strong I’m sure you can experiment and make it work.
