19:18 Fun fact: The tornado was supposed to have ghosts floating out of the well, but they couldn't get it to work, and the tornado looked cool enough, so they shelved the concept.
I haven't heard that one, but that would have been awesome! I imagine it would have looked like the ghosts flying towards the sky in the Haunted Mansion graveyard.
As an Orlando local I agree so much with the fact that dinoland needs to go and Indy needs to come in, it would fit animal kingdom so much and keep the Indiana Jones legacy alive. It’ll also expose a younger audience to this franchise
The only bad thing about this series is that it’s over now 😔 I wish it was a 10 part series!! Excellent work, this was honestly the best Disney related content I’ve watched since The Imagineering Story on Disney+. I’m excited for whatever is coming up on your channel, and looking forward to the next (10 part) ride series you do! 😉
I agree. I actually think this could/should be something they do on Disney+, a real deep dive into attractions that include the story of how the attraction was built and the actual story being told, but they probably wouldn’t highlight some of the issues they faced as honestly as Bram has in this series, so I guess I’ll stick with Disneylander. 😀
Really enjoyed this series…thanks for all of your hard work!! Indy and Adventureland has long been my favorite ride and land. I had forgotten how much fun the Stunt show was until I watched those clips again. And I am always blown away by the stuff in Tokyo DisneySea….The imagineers must have been like kids in a candy store with Daddy’s credit card when they designed it!! Keep up the great work Bram! Have you ever considered doing a podcast?
Thanks for watching!!! You're definitely right about that DisneySea imagineers, though, haha. It seems like they had a lot of fun. And I HAVE considered attempting a podcast before, but I'm not sure if it's something I'll ever get around to. It's possible!
Maybe I'll have to do another one one of these days! But thank you for all of the support throughout this one!!! I'm jealous you got to ride Indy haha.
Totally loved the series ❤️ Greatly researched, edited and entertaining videos. I hope to see more content like this soon. Take your time and keep the good work ✨
Something not many people know about temple of the crystal skull is that the lore behind it is much deeper. It involves two deities in the skull, some entities wearing jaguar skins that act as guardians to the skull, and a war between the inhabitants of the area and the crystal skull guardians. Looking around the study chamber in the queue, there seems to be a ritual that indy performed when going to the fountain of youth. As seen in some paintings in the main sacrificial chamber, the ritual involves some runes. Failing to do the ritual causes the crystal skull guardians to wake. The deities are both represented with the skeleton chamber and the snake chamber (representing death and feathered serpents). The story is there, you just have to really look at every single detail no matter how small to piece it all together. The entire attraction overall has a much darker and less lighthearted storyline than the one in Anaheim.
I loved this series I am so sad it had to end this soon but I am excited for what comes next!!! Keep being awesome Bram and I just want to say I think your channel is really underrated!!! ❤️
You were able to do a wonderful four-part series about one attraction. What I think this shows us is that if Disney has a great story, creativity and are willing to put the money in at the beginning, it really will pay off in the end. An attraction this good can be over 25 years old and is still incredibly exciting and relevant. Yes, that is an intentional dig at the times when the CEOs have decided that it’s better to build on a budget or do cheap overlays than to not do anything at all. We fans would rather they wait and put the money into it than give us an inferior product. I thought that Bob Iger seemed to get this, especially when he fixed Hong Kong by adding more lands and a better castle, as well as the changing of California Adventure to be the 2.0 iteration, which was overall a classier retheming of the gaudy and poorly thought out California based park in California idea, but then he reverted back to the disjointed theming, becoming IP obsessed. My biggest fear is that we are entering into another era of building on the cheap or doing lazy overlays, but I hope that I am wrong.
It's true! The Forbidden Eye is just one of many fantastic examples of what the imagineers can do when the corporation lets their imaginations run wild. Even with it being downsized significantly from the original concepts, the Forbidden Eye remains an icon of Disney's potential...and let's not forget that it's an IP as well! IPs aren't the problem, it's only an issue when it's done cheap for quick profits.
I'm a little surprised you didn't mention the infinite maze mirror effect where the Chamber Of Destiny should be. It's the same angled mirror trick Tokyo Disneyland uses at the end of their Monsters Inc ride.
If Disney doesn’t want to get rid of Dinoland USA entirely, maybe they can replace the defunct Primeval Whirl with an Indy themed coaster set at a dinosaur dig site. They could maybe include some of the cool concepts Paris couldn’t use and Dinosaur fans won’t lose their ride.
I think that would actually make a lot of sense. Though, I like the idea of retheming the area to South America. The front part of the land would look like a dig site, then Dinosaur could become an Indy ride because while digging, the paleontologists found a unique relic, so they called in an archaeologist, Indiana Jones. Indy explores the area and finds a temple with similar relics, so he goes in to explore. The ride could be structured the same, but different than the forbidden eye and crystal skull by giving it an original story that ties into the relic in some way. Then, redo the whole carnival area as a part of the rainforest and include a family friendly attraction to replace Primeval Whirl and Triceratops spin. I would love an original story like Mystic Manor that could be tied to another member of the S.E.A. and would be, perhaps, a similar trackless dark ride, though it would need a massive show building, so it might not work, especially with the Amazon theme idea. I think that would pay homage to the original land while also giving it a much needed boost. Also, by including the original attraction, it wouldn’t just be a completely IP centric land focused on Indy as seems to be the trend.
@@srayj Maybe if they want to fuse Indiana Jones, dinosaurs and South America together they could do something like a homage to the Lost World. Which took place in South America and had dinosaurs in it. All you need to do is throw Indiana Jones into the mix and you could have a cool story.
I rode both the one in Disneyland and Tokyo, and I do prefer the Tokyo one over the Disneyland one, although Tokyo is missing Mara and the other doors (i know they do not work, but it’s cool just to see them). However, they are both very fun to ride!
One thing i notice on the videos of the Disneysea version is how much less music there is. I don’t know if this is something to do with the recordings or if the ride is actually like that. However if the videos are accurate then I definitely prefer the Disneyland version since the music throughout the ride is one of the best parts of the experience. (It’s like a greatest hits melody for the original Indy trilogy.) To be specific from the bridge to you exiting the main room there is no music.
You are correct about that! The music is not continuous through the disneysea version which is an odd choice. I definitely prefer having music through the full ride.
They should turn Dinosaur into a one that’s called “The temple of the Lost Ark” and put the ark at the end of the hallway like they did with Mara and the Crystal Skull.
Finally! I didn't even realize the Tokyo one was there and instead I waited 3 hours for Soarin, a ride I've already been on in DCA. (After watching a video of the Tokyo version I definitely prefer it over Disneyland's version, but they don't have Mara so now I'm not sure...) I would love it if they made the stunt show an actual story, but again it's the last attraction with the studios theme.
Yeah, the Tokyo Indiana Jones Adventure is crazy! But I have to agree, no Mara is definitely a loss. I agree about the stunt show, though. I like the "behind the scenes" bits, but one continuous story would be more timeless.
Loved this but that's more Aztec and Mayan style than Peruvian, even the snake statues designs are sort of Quetzalcoatl which is a feathered snake Aztec god. But as you said could be anywhere in Latin America, for me it's Mexico. :D
FAN FREEKIN TASTIC!!! Standing ovation and a roaring applause for your efforts and love in putting this whole series together! Loved every second from beginning to end! I really HOPE you do another series! Ok so this episode at hand. Even though crystal skull in TDS is suppose to be better.....ITS NOT!! Indy at Disneyland is soooo much better!! It has deep immersive story and plot behind it and it just seems more exciting. Crystal skull may look better in some ways but overall INDY wins!! I mean the only thing thats better is the smoke blowing at your face instead of rats falling on your head...if DISNEYLAND changed that section to the smoke blowing in your face...then that would be tops!!! Nothing would beat INDY! And....dino...ahem....well....I just wont say anything about that.....moving on......If what you said about changing all that to INDY and making DINO a TOTFE, that area would be INSANELY AMAZING!! Its a great idea and it SHOULD be done!!!
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate all of your support throughout the series! I think as far as visual immersion, technology, and set-pieces goes, Tokyo's Indiana Jones Adventure is vastly superior, but the incredibly detailed and consistent story/timeline for California's ride makes the whole experience a lot more believable and personal...Rat log certainly needs to die and be replaced with fireball man either way, lol.
Mexico is actually North American. Guatemala depends on whether you're talking NA the continent or region but the Aztecs, Olmecs, Toltecs, and Yucatec Maya are all unconditionally North American.
Yeah Dinosaur was a MASSIVE let down as I walked into Animal Kingdome in 1998... to see no Indy ride... just the shell of it with dinosaurs in it. MASSIVE disappointment. Oh lamentations. Truly a huge mistake. Then, to see Tokyo Disney's version of Indy... OH lamentations... MASSIVE disappointment that USA doesn't have that version. Still, Indy here is bonkers awesome and I am glad to have experienced it especially as a fan of the movies.
I think it would be a bad idea to get rid of a fairly unique attraction to turn it in to another clone. A world with Dinosaur and Indiana is better than one with just Indiana
I partially agree, but Dinosaur was a cheaper compromise to begin with. Whether or not it's Indiana Jones related, pumping another $50,000,000 into the ride would go a long ways.
@@Disneylander I don't know but I figured Dinosaur would have been more expensive. The sets are nothing special but the Dinosaur animatronics can't be cheap.
Sorry, but the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland is much better than the Tokyo Disney Sea version. The first room at Disneyland is so much better than the plain boring walls with a little skull at the end. The cobra snakes look magnitudes better than the weird boxy looking snakes Tokyo has for all the statues. The lava theme is so soo much better than just pure darkness with a swirling tornado. And worst of all in the Tokyo version is that on some parts that should be some of the most exciting sections of the ride, the amazing music just completely cuts out and is replaced with a low howling sound that is much less exciting. Not having that amazing music destroys the experience. And this version is not nicer or had a bigger budget. I can show you parts where the Disneyland version has amazing hand carved details that just don't exist in the Tokyo version. Their version had a much more manufactured design than Disneyland's meticulous hand carvings. And the line in the Disneyland version is so much better. It's not that the videos from the Tokyo version are missing a bunch of the line, it's because the Disneyland line is much better and cost much more to create. And because of all these things I mentioned and others, the Tokyo version isn't even comparable to the Disneyland one. It's so much less exciting and fun. And yes, there are a few things that are better in Tokyo's like the bugs room and the arrow room, but that is not enough to make up for the ride being much worse in every other way. If you go there and ride it in person one day you will be very underwhelmed to say the least.
