Ha. Hey did I ever tell you that Miles lives in Albuquerque? I've not seen him for awhile. He was having some trouble with his eyes and driving. Hope he is ok.
Thank you for teaching these Lovely tunes. Keep irish spirit alive! I love learning these monthly nameyertunes! Also it is great if I can sing it I can play it method! Love☘️☘️
Well that's handy this popped right up for me to learn 100% after you played it over the weekend! Great reminder to everyone how useful singing the tune is, too. True story, folks!
What a lovely tune! And thanks for the brilliant tutorial (I now have it in my fingers - and my heart!) Looking forward to the session in the garden! Alison
It’s clear you are well suited for teaching, Shannon. I almost regret you don’t teach tunes on the guitar. I shall work on a backing instead of the melody. I reckon it’s a good way to be familiar with the melody before learning it by ear after a few weeks. I must say I already have loads of homework with your Oil Chain book 😅 So next week you shall play on the other side of your home if I understood correctly? Garden? Terrace? The clues and tips Matt gave in the session are gold ☺️
@@ShannonHeatonMusic Cinnte! Of course he is an awesome teacher. I saw this the other day. Hope it can encourage Master Matt: ua-cam.com/video/geCA5P1URmQ/v-deo.html Nye is from Sheffield in England and owns a music instrument shop and often post Celtic and Irish trad harmony tip videos too. Lately he's been covering the style of John Doyle. I remember I have seen Matt playing with him and Liz Carroll. Have you met or played with John Doyle recently? I hope you'll able to play and meet again with your old musical friends soon, in gigs or sessions. Shall work in some backing of the Maid of Selma tonight and also that Caitlín Warbelow's Star Wars slide jig 😎 I had a Legacy version of it on my iPhone actually, with the lovely Valerie Plested. She speaks excellent Irish by the way. I hope she is still alive. Haven't seen any of her fidil playing in ages sadly. Have a great week, Shannon, Matt and Nigel! 😉
I’ve been playing that one on the accordion for years now. My favourite tune.
I'm so glad you love it, too. SUCH a special tune!!
Thank you Shannon! My brain is burning but I'm getting there!
Way to go, Alex! Means your brain is working. Such a sweet tune.
This is a beutiful tune. My mind was going to Selma, Alabama. But that is not the case. Looking forward to 'The Heaton Garden'.
Really pretty tune! Possibly prettier than the unruly backyard, though I might do a little weeding before the sesh...

Love this, Judit. Yes, if we sing them, they go straight to our head/heart. The best and ultimately fastest way to learn them.
Thanks Shannon !
It will be a nice jig for you both to play together!
Thanks!
Thanks for joining the VGS!
Thank you for this wonderful jig.
It's such a special one. I'm so grateful for this request. I might have missed it otherwise!
