Anyone who even scratches the surface of the history of the Catholic church should realize how corrupt it is. Follow God and Jesus, but no one should follow the Church. God leads you through your heart, so follow it. God also gave you intelligence, so use it.

Well, then start learning Latin and Hebrew , because Christianity, the Catholic Church and religion isn’t the bible, but 2 milleniums of books and scriptures found only in the Vatican. She left out the most important part that the building that that sculpture is in is a snake's head with 2 serpent eyes as giant stain glass windows on each side and the Pope preaching from the serpent's mouth which is where the stage is with 2 conical pillars on each side as the snake's fangs. If you stepped back and look at that building you'll see that it's even laid out with scales as a snake would have inside and out. The pope speaks from the mouth of the serpent; or is the voice of the serpent.

I have a strong belief that anything related to snakes, an eye, pyramid shaped things are related to the Illuminat1 which is a not so secret organization anymore that holds the word of many celebrities or powerful people nonetheless asif they "controlled" the world themselves, sad to think your fave singers could be in it too sacrificing babies and what not. A lot to unpack for jesus: at the time of his death, he wasn't recognized as a holy figure, and most items involved in his crucifixion and death were common items for the time. There's a strong possibility that most were disposed of after use, once broken or partially destroyed. So any artifacts about him likely did not survive the onslaught of time, and with good reason: we were meant to focus on how the man lived and follow that path, as his lifestyle was moderate and humble.

After the 1988 evaluation, a new study was done in the late 90s or early 2000s where they tested other parts of the shroud and discovered that the part tested in 1988 was from where repairs were made along the edges from the shroud having been held while on display during high holy days over several hundred years. Still didn't determine if it was actually The Shroud, but did determine that the stains are not ink or paint and that the fabric is of the right dating to have been used. So, while it might not be the shroud that wrapped the body, it isn't a fraud from the Middle Ages. They did a documentary on it and showed it on tv, but I don't remember when ... Just know I watched it with the late spouse.

The type of cloth, the weave of the material, was found to be also from the Holy Land when it was compared to cloth found there that was of similar age. Whilst I believe that the Shroud is a relic of Jesus' burial and Resurrection, that belief is not necessary to have for one's Salvation! Belief in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour is far more important! UK churches - most of them built on top of ancient pagan temples or revered places! Often in the spires you'll find a pagan carving of the deity they honoured in that district. Some have been cut out & are stored in the Natural History Museum in London. I'm definitely not a fan of the church ( protestant or Catholic)

Although not a Catholic (I'm LDS), when I visited The Vatican in 2019, and went into the St. Peter's Basilica, it was breathtakingly beautiful. Only the Cathedral of St. Paul in Moscow comes close.
I'm not religious in the slightest but St Peters is easily the most amazing building I've ever been inside. It's almost like sensory overload. It makes English cathedrals look small and unfinished!

As native Italian, and visited St Peter Cathedral in 2001, I smell an odor of sulfur, which is the typical smell of the presence of demons and felt to be watched from some evil presence. Because of my parents devoting the Pope Woytila, I was 21 years old and felt a kind of strange. Same smell of sulfur, while visiting the mountain St Angelo in the Gargano area in the north of Puglia, he devoted place of Father Pio of the St Giovanni Rotondo, we've been there several times. I have to be honest I hate the Church and all the prays related, because Jesus born in a very poor place and he teach only the Pater Noster, not the Credo which the translation is a kind of agreement which you need to profess, I like the first part but not the phrase who says: I believe in the Church as saint and unique Catholic and apostolic, which it lead the church to be the only representative of this fool religion on my point of view and also after I discovered in the time with other religions. I'm so disappointed that when I need to pray, I only profess the Pater Noster, the Angel of God and the pray to Mary mother of Jesus. The shroud was tested yes, but it was the shroud edges. In the middle ages the shroud's edges were rewoven as it caught fire and then repaired. So the dating was not correct as the wrong fibers were tested. Additionally, there is an associated facial cloth, the Sudarium of Oviedo, that has a recorded history of dating back to an older timeframe than the carbon dating test. Both items have been officially compared and the face on the shroud matches exactly to the face on the facial cloth. This comparison puts doubt on the carbon dating test made on the shroud.
The Face in the Shroud also perfectly matches the Image of the Divine Mercy which was painted during the 1930s. The painter did not have any guide while painting other than the verbal description of St. Faustina. So for this painting to perfectly match the Face in the Shroud is in itself Diviner intervention. I believe the truth of the Shroud of Turin! Jesus has lived and died and had risen. The devil, of course, still does everything it can to stop this truth from being known but it will never win.
pretty sure its an early attempt at photography, iirc samples have found compounds like silver and salts that would be used in making a light sensitive solution to make an exposure onto. essentially a corpse placed with the sheet above it covered in the chemicals and light would be let through a hatch working like a camera. although alot of people dismiss this thinking the past was a lot less scientifically able thats just assumption at the end of the day romans made structures stronger than we are able, ancient sumerians created structures that are beyond wonders even in the 1800s and they where over 4000 years ago.

I am fairly sure that there are some demons you DO NOT want to stir up. And is it not interesting that the Catholics were all about exorcisms? And many times failed to remove such demons? Think of this... Jesus told the people that Satan cannot cast out Satan...A house divided cannot stand. The Vatican is a hotbed for such paranormal activity, but they will not permit such research because they know the truth. They sit on piles of bones. I doubt very highly those are the bones of the apostle Peter. Even if they were his, it would be a great disservice to him to disturb them from their original place of rest.
When they tested the shrowd of Turin the first time they took a sample from a later repair so it would appear to be too young to have been real. Also the image of Christ on the linen was made by intense light like laser light. It burned the image onto it. Scientific advances have revealed a lot of interesting features about the shrowd.

I believe you are correct. The translation is a guess ... some of the texts are missing and some have been translated wrong. And the amount of time that passed between the actual events and the recordings of facts is so long that some things have been forgotten, changed, embellished.... Who knows what is correct or not. None of us where there! The Bible is an amazing story that can be used as an outline of Christianity. But not a word for word record. All organized religions are someone's version of what it should be. That's why I don't belong to any religious organization. I believe and don't need anyone to tell me what to believe. I can do that for myself and pray without a church or head of that church to tell me what's right and wrong. I try to be the best person I can be. Id like to challenge you to get yourself a copy of the KJV and just read it for yourself. I am currently having this same "argument" with my dad. His argument is basically the same as yours. If the Shroud of Turin were legitimate, the Latin passages would have been in Aramaic. There's zero reason why Joseph of Arimathea would have used Latin, when Aramaic was his native tongue.
It could've been written much later. It could be that the shroud had nothing written on it for the first 500 years, then it was passed down through the generations and finally ending up in the hands of someone who decided, "Let's label it before we all us it as a wiping cloth or something."
The shourd has several layers ... the outer layer was medieval in origin... to protect the inner layer ... this was the one they took for carbon dating.... here is where the curator wrote their notes thru time.

The Shroud of Turin is now locked for further sampling.

Later tests were done on the shroud because the original piece tested was not from the original cloth....it was from a piece that they used to keep the shroud in tact after i caught fire....after testing a piece of the original shroud...it did date back to around the time of Jesus' death.

She left out the most important part that the building that that sculpture is in is a snake's head with 2 serpent eyes as giant stain glass windows on each side and the Pope preaching from the serpent's mouth which is where the stage is with 2 conical pillars on each side as the snake's fangs. If you stepped back and look at that building you'll see that it's even laid out with scales as a snake would have inside and out. The pope speaks from the mouth of the serpent; or is the voice of the serpent.

A lot to unpack for jesus: at the time of his death, he wasn't recognized as a holy figure, and most items involved in his crucifixion and death were common items for the time. There's a strong possibility that most were disposed of after use, once broken or partially destroyed.
So any artifacts about him likely did not survive the onslaught of time, and with good reason: we were meant to focus on how the man lived and follow that path, as his lifestyle was moderate and humble.

No , Jesus was Holy from birth , had He been like you or I , no "heavenly host" would have appeared as soon as He was born in Bethlehem , nor would Peter have told Him , "Lord depart from me , for I am a sinful man " , when Jesus told him what side of the boat to throw his nets . Still didn't determine if it was actually The Shroud, but did determine that the stains are not ink or paint and that the fabric is of the right dating to have been used. So, while it might not be the shroud that wrapped the body, it isn't a fraud from the Middle Ages. They did a documentary on it and showed it on tv, but I don't remember when ... Just know I watched it with the late spouse.

We do know that spikenard was in that alabaster box, but there could have been frankincense and myrrh mingled in. Jesus specifically said that she was anointing his body before burial.

The type of cloth, the weave of the material, was found to be also from the Holy Land when it was compared to cloth found there that was of similar age.
Whilst I believe that the Shroud is a relic of Jesus' burial and Resurrection, that belief is not necessary to have for one's Salvation! Belief in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour is far more important! UK churches - most of them built on top of ancient pagan temples or revered places! Often in the spires you'll find a pagan carving of the deity they honoured in that district. I believe you are correct. The translation is a guess ... some of the texts are missing and some have been translated wrong. And the amount of time that passed between the actual events and the recordings of facts is so long that some things have been forgotten, changed, embellished.... Who knows what is correct or not. None of us where there! The Bible is an amazing story that can be used as an outline of Christianity. But not a word for word record. All organized religions are someone's version of what it should be. That's why I don't belong to any religious organization. I believe and don't need anyone to tell me what to believe. I don't know you, obviously, but in general, when ever I press someone with this mindset, I find they either haven't gave much study or effort to actually reading the Bible for themselves, or they have, and they don't like what they have read, because it doesn't line up with what makes them feel good, so they dismiss it.

It could've been written much later. It could be that the shroud had nothing written on it for the first 500 years, then it was passed down through the generations and finally ending up in the hands of someone who decided, "Let's label it before we all us it as a wiping cloth or something."
