Great looking dog. Happy to see newer breeds. It's sad to see what has been done to breeds that have been around a while.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode comparing older to recent guarding/protection breeds. Here are some other not so recent but certainly not old breeds used for similar purposes. 1. Donovan Pinscher. 2. Lakota Mastino. Both worthy of doing episodes on !!

Have had 3 Dobies. None had issues with swimming, and were naturals, not trained. That being said, this is an interesting new breed.

My wife and I have two and one loves water and the other doesn't mind it. But she isn't really into it. We have a small river that runs through our property (517 acres). And if I can't find Charlie, I always go to the river. We own the river rights. So every so often we get whisky companies who pay to use our water....it's the limestone water that's purported to be the best. I never knew this, but we'll take the money and a few cases of excellent whiskey. I bring this up, because Charlie will go and guard them while they take the water. Abby, she won't leave my side. Both are red nose dobies and they are our 6&7th dobies. It's all we've owned and never lost a dog to DCM or thyroid disease. Garratt Dobermans in Dallas TX breeds excellent pups does DNA testing, etc. But his dobies are breed for temperment....ours still trained well and fine guarding. Just need them to alert us. Then I'll take over. We're in a rural area on alot of land. So it's more like coyotes issues.

5 generations deep in the program with the oldest dog being 7 years old. This is not good and looks like a rushed program. I’d like to see an entire litter (5th gen) side by side so as to see the potential throw backs that this speed of program may bring. The type clearly isn’t locked it which means that temp is as unpredictable as type.

I appreciate how this video detailed and comparison! The focus on the health and performance of the Borz Hund is inspiring-especially when addressing hereditary diseases. It's fascinating to see how selective breeding can prioritize functionality over looks

You can't "compare" a breed that's been around for well over a hundred years, with a dog that is no older than 7 years at best. The creator can say whatever he wants, we don't even know what breeds have gone into the Borz Hund, so far. This is a good looking dog that's still being created. It's not a finished product, so a comparison is not right to do at this point. The biggest problem with most breeds, especially working breeds, is too much popularity. The original Dobermans didn't have many of the issues that the modern dog does, same for the German Shepherd Dog. IF the Borz Hund ever got as popular as the Doberman or GSD, it would more than likely have many more issues than are being reported by the creator right now. On top of that, many health issues don't show up until after 7 years, the oldest dog is only 7 years old. This is another reason a comparison cannot be done accurately.

I absolutely LOVE Dobermanns. Since I was a young child I have met many amazing dobermans with stable and goofy personalities while also protective. Unfortunately, within the past 2 years my mom (who also loves Dobermanns) has been lunged at by one after being invited to pet it by the owners in a very public space....then recently another couple invited her to pet their doberman and my mom trusted them and went to pet the dog who appeared friendly and it snapped and it almost took her hand off. Both owners said "oh my gosh he's never done this before....." I love these dogs but many people who have them lately, consider them unstable now and don't do proper training with them. I'm sad to see one of my favorite breed being ruined. I hope the European line stays healthy and they can regain their health.

Same, it's so sad when people don't do the proper work with such an awesome breed and when breeders breed for LOOKS and not for personality and health.

Funny, in US are Standard poodles often compared to dobrmans as great family dog with great temperament. Which sounds kind of crazy because in Europe they are still good working dog.
Knowing all illnesses of breed is based on years of testing generation after generation. Also I would love to see reason for breeding another and another and another new guarding working breed.

I haven't even viewed the video. And I can tell you, which breed is better. DOBERMAN'S. But then I'm extremely partial with Dobies. It's the only breed my wife and I have ever owned. Currently we have two red nose Dobies (Abby & Charlie). It's 45 degrees in TN and Abby the Doberman, is sitting outside on our backyard deck, guarding. She is more than welcomed to come inside the house. But she loves being outside....I put a blankey on her too. CHarlie is sitting next to me as I write this. The boy never leaves my side. Doberman's are loving, loyal, curious, gentle, highly trainable, super intelligent and smart.

Very informative video. Can you make a video on the American Mastiff? It was developed by crossing an English Mastiff with a Kangal. According to the breeder, the goal was to develop a breed that resembled an English Mastiff but with fewer health issues and a dryer mouth.

  • @tterexx426

2:35 I assume that with "5 Generations in" he means they are in the F5 Generation. In the following sentence, he says "We are about 8 years in". That means that the average breeding age of his females was just 1,6 years. Many working dog clubs ban bitches of less than 3 years from breeding - out of ethical reasons as well as because in working breeds and large breeds, a dog's full ability often show only at about the 2 or 3 years old. To me it seems the Borzhund breeder is more breeding for looks than working abilities.

I agree, I also think that having a secret pedigree is not serious practice. If he want to call it a working breed, then what are the merits of the dogs he is breeding on? Any prizes? Any tests? IGP? Almost any dog can do bite work as a hobby.

  • @amerhamad-zp6ge
    @amerhamad-zp6ge День тому +1

Wolves and kangals have long snouts and much higher bite force than any dog. It's a myth to suggest that long snouts have weaker bite force. It's actually according to the size of the head that gives you a better picture of bite force.

I have a rescued Basenji mix. Basenji is considered the second stupidest dog breed in the world. My dog, Max knows more than a dozen of commands. Their being heel, stop, stay, leave it, drop, give, down and of course sit. And more others, but roll over isn't one of them. He knows the left and right and some more.
I walk him off the leash every morning, against the city rules. The police doesn't care, they greet him. Max charges for cats and bunnies, but never attacks them. He will kill squirrels though, if they come too close and be too arrogant. He is always friendly with people and wags his tail with meeting them. He has some dog friends at the neighborhood.
Good guard dog. Not even a cat goes in our front yard before he warns us.
The best dog I've ever had! Now in his golden age, about 11 years old. We rescued him when he was about 2 years old.

In general, I feel like Borz Hund is a more agile yet compact body. Shorter limbs add to the agility. Also, a Bors Hund seems to come off as a breed that can be easier trained than Doberman. Dobermans have a lot of health issues. I've had a Doberman pass at 4.

Rather have a European Dobie hands down not some Johnny-come-lately boutique breed with more questions than answers! Moreover, Dobermans are fifth smartest dog breed and learn quickly and are extremely intuitive to social and human emotions! I don’t care if the dog has more stature and weighs a hundred pounds cause that added size is a plus. Moreover, for a hundred pound dog, it runs incredibly fast. Also, it’s still possess a high working drive which as an active individual myself, I definitely appreciate. Euro Dobies all the way! This video is laughable!
