- 'Queen Hosts Reception at Sandringham on Accession Day Eve'
The Queen has hosted a reception for members of the local community and volunteer groups at Sandringham House on the eve of Accession Day, the seventieth anniversary of Her Majesty’s reign.
After meeting the assembled guests, The Queen cut a cake specially prepared for the occasion by a local resident, featuring The Platinum Jubilee emblem.
Her Majesty also received a posy on departure, which included flowers that formed part of The Queen’s Coronation bouquet in 1953, such as lily of the valley.
Entertainment at the tea was provided by Hunstanton Concert Band, who played ‘Congratulations’ for Her Majesty as She departed Sandringham House.
On Sunday 6th February, The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking seventy years since Her Majesty acceded the throne.
The Queen traditionally spends Accession Day at Sandringham House.

My goodness, how I miss the Queen ! She’s been with me my entire life, now she’s gone there is a hole in my life that I didn’t realise was just filled by her. It actually hurts to see her knowing she has gone. In someway, I wish Charlotte had been born before George, I know that does not sound nice but I just miss her so much.
What a nice reception. Small but very festive. It has the advantage of being more personal than the bigger events. It is so heart touching to see the presents which hare given to Queen Elisabeth II. Her smile reminds me so much of her younger version which is very good. So my sincere congratulations to her Majesty the Queen for being the longest reigning monarch in the world.

As an American with an embarrassing parade of presidents, I'm inclined to agree with you. I was really sad to hear of her passing.
Also, I couldn't help but notice her interaction with the little girl who gave her flowers. She seemed to want to say something but was quite obviously awestruck in the presence of the Queen. Did you notice how kindly the Queen thanked her and then turned back towards her again to tell the girl how pretty the flowers were, as though to make sure of giving the little girl enough of her time and appreciation and give the girl another chance to say more if she wanted to? This is what a leader worthy of respect is like.
I think she’s wonderful and still has that charming smile. She’s like everyone’s grandma 😊

I thought in 2002 that would be the last jubilee we would celebrate with our gracious Queen on the throne but to still be around 20 years later and celebrating 70 years on the throne is amazing! Apart from my fondness for the Queen, I can't help but marvel at her incredible poise and grace, not to mention her political savvy. She is more than a beloved cultural icon; she is also a symbol of benevolence and a source of political stability...the ironic blessings of a constitutional monarchy, at least during her reign (as Stephen Fry once discussed). Hopefully she'll continue a while longer. She's much needed!

Anne, your post is beautifully written and I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I wish she'd come forward and make a stand during crucial moments, such as the case of the island of Diego Garcia where the Queen signed off on a UK/US agreement to appropriate a colonial island for a US military base, and the islanders were forcibly and illegally removed, and Brexit, where a simple statement from the Queen calling for a second referendum would almost certainly have guaranteed that it happened, and would have protected the nation from being railroaded by dishonest players. She has more influence and power than she realises, perhaps. She has the voice and respect that the self-serving clowns and idiots in government could never hope to have. I just wish she'd use her clout in such moments.

I was smiling throughout the entire video. I was in awe with the way she had something to say with each person. She didn't just rush through, she took her time to say something personal to everyone. It wasn't just thank you, then move to the next table. She took her time and listened to everyone and asked questions. (Not something most people can do) I'm sorry, I'm not making sense am I? Just as she started to leave, I started getting teary-eyed. She's not just The Queen, she's a wonderful person. Thank you for posting these videos. 🇺🇸

So lovely to see Her Majesty enjoying the appreciation of people who love and revere her. Tomorrow I am sure there will be a tinge of sadness as well as happiness. It is also the anniversary of her beloved father, George Sixth’s death. She has certainly proved a worthy successor to a wonderful king.

I was thinking the same thing -- about this also being the anniversary of the day she lost her father. I can only imagine how proud he would have been of the way she's carried on his work.
This actually made me tear up a bit...I am from Germany, and my mum was taught English in primary school by a teacher who was a POW in the UK. She always told me that she and her friend got a special assignment to write a letter to HM the Queen for her coronation, she was 10 years old back then. My mummy died of cancer two years ago, but HM is still up and going strong. Absolutely amazing!!

As an American I always marvel at how blessed our British friends were that Edward abdicated, making the way for King George and this queen.
Elizabeth still would have become queen in 1972 when Edward died instead of 1952 even if he had stayed king with no children, and his brother George (Elizabeth's father) already deceased.

I was in the crowd on her coronation day and saw her as she went past in her golden coach. I was 3. My mum held me high up to see better because there were thousands of periscopes.

I can't get enough of HMTQ. I didn't know much about the British royalty being from the Philippines but the pandemic gave me more time to read about them and watch documentaries in UA-cam. I have so much respect and admiration now for the Queen for her deep sense of duty and service and her abiding faith in God.
