This is great, man. I like your attitude and views. I have watched a handful of your videos and it makes me proud to see reservists doing well and sharing it proudly. I understand and relate to many things from your views of your mother / family, towards negativity to reserve service. I was a reservist for 8 years out of Sacramento; I served as a Motor T wrecker operator. The mountains I climbed both literally and metaphorically in the Marine Corps Reserve are some of the proudest moments in my life. I pursued an outside education and am now a teacher. Without the discipline and inner strength I gained from my time in the Corps, I would not be where I am today. Any nay saying towards the reserve life is either ignorant or does not grasp what goes into a reservist's life or decisions. I respect all components of the military and I like your comment how we are expected to be a certain level of professional. Allow me to share my professional two cents; I made and maintain many friendships with active duty Marines as well is reserve. I know Marines on both sides that need at lot of work on their lives. I know grunts who aren't worth a shit. I know active duty Marines that are textbook institutionalized, and I sure as hell know reservists that give us that poor reputation. I also know Marines on both sides that I would bet my life on any day of the week. They are taking the best parts of the Corps and taking to the civilian side. They are cops, construction workers, students, teachers etc... My point, Marines are some best and worst people I have met. In some cases, they are both if that makes any sense. Active, reserve, POG, grunt. The type of service that an individual chooses is something that we don't owe anyone an explanation for. To take take something that someone is proud and shit on it is a sign of inner weakness and in many ways a tragedy to do to one of our own. Great videos. Keep 'em coming. Stay proud brothers and sisters. Semper Fi.
Love your vid Brother. As an Army Reservist E-4 SPC, I respect the Marines. We have a Marine Unit at the same Reserve base so I see quite a few Marines there. Love the uniforms you guys have. Anyway, have a great day sir! Hooah and Oorah!
Being a reservist is better if you wanna have 2 careers. I want to become an infantry marine reservists while I get my bachelors to become an infantry officer. My civilian career would be a cop then fbi
Damn it’s like you’re speaking to me bro. I’m currently mid 30s and am looking for a career change. The thing holding me back is my spouse. Don’t want to leave her. And my financial responsibilities
Can you make a video regarding what the Marine Reserves pay and don’t pay for, in terms of Benefits, Uniforms, Schooling, Bootcamp, etc. Compared to Other branches such as the Army Reserve
You are amazing my guy. You and Nava are some of the best UA-camrs when it come to military stuff, you get to see the lives of both Reservist and Active. As a young man considering the Marine Corp Reserve you make me reassure myself that I’m doing the right thing because a lot of these guys are too opinionated. They make it seem as if you don’t go Active Duty and be in war you are not a real marine and that you are wasting your time. A lot of them forget that life for everyone is different with different circumstances so you have to make a decision right for you. Everybody won’t get it but that’s not my problem as long as I’m happy with my decision that is all that matters.
Ramal Revilo at the end of the day only you know what’s best for yourself. No decision like this is ever easy, but it’s always about gathering as much information and making the most conscious decision. I’m glad I could help, best of luck!
really enjoy this video, i am in a very similar situation. ill be 25 this month and currently in process for a waiver but i am looking for reserves cause i already have a start of a career but still looking for that experience and to better myself, confidence, leadership, training, and i like the points you made about having multiple skills as a reservist in different jobs. and of course maintaining yourself as a role model.
Great video man! Super informational. Currently a senior in high school and the military is what seems more likely suited for me. I plan on using it as a stepping stone to more options in the future.
Do Marine Reservists have opportunities to go to active duty school houses such as AIC, FWIC, and Combat Hunters course? I've been told yes and no. Can you clarify?
I have a similar situation where i don't feel comfortable just uprooting and leaving my family good to know i can gain from joining the military without leaving my family behind
100% relate I felt it would be too selfish of me to go active duty who knows where when I have my handicapped retired grandparents that practically raised me and single hardworking mother with both of my younger sisters
i would love to see a video of you talking about your boot camp experience.what each phase was like and how you dealt with it. it might help me to know what to expect and be aware of what could happen. you dont have to but it would be interesting and helpful. just a thought. love your videos by the way.
So I have been enlisted in the USMC-reserves for 5 years now. Currently, I am awaiting my commission to be an active duty officer in the USMC. Back to your question, you have ample opportunities to deploy if you seek them out. There is a huge list online given to reservists of global deployment opportunities that you can fill. I have been overseas to different countries as a reservist.
I want to join the Marines but I wanna make college my first priority but I have my dad's GI bill . The thing is I don't know what my dad's GI bill covers. He was in the Marine Reserved before he pasted away.
Join the reserves, My dad joined the reserves back in 97 or 98, was in the reserves for a few years then went active, got jump wings, deployed all over the world, did combat deployments, all kinda stuff, and through the marines, when he retired after nearly 19 years, he had 3 college degrees. You can choose to go active later on if you wanted to. A lot of people also join the military just to help pay for college.
What are the benefits of the marine reserves for school, like when I get back from boot camp, what money do I have to help pay for school? Boot camp money only or Gi bill? Can you PLEASE make a video on this explaining it thoroughly
Great video Corporal Lee. Good Job. You have set great example for all Military personnel. This is from another Asian Marine Corporal Alan Phung. Semper Fi.
Thanks for the video. Im leaving December 4 on an active duty contract but i was really stuck in whether i should do reserves or not due to a similar childhood upbringing.
I have a scholarship to run track at my University but the problem is that it’s only a partial scholarship and money is tight for me. The question is can I serve my country in the Marine Corps Reserve 92 day reservist program while getting my college paid for and do you think the program would balance out with college athletics? Please get back to me when you can. Thank you
The answer is it depends. As a Marine Infantry Reservist that is admitted to Texas A&M University, I find it somewhat manejable to manage my personal life, scholastic priorities, physical fitness, and my militaristic career. I see nothing wrong with serving your country all the while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Your scholarship might intel that you don’t have a job or commit to a certain number of hours a week (for exercise that is); it also depends on where you live. I live in Texas and that means most reserve jobs in Texas are infantry related. So my options of jobs are limited. Also it took me 2 months on top of my 3 months of boot camp to finish my training. (I graduated May 2017 and finish training November 2017, that meant I couldn’t have started college until Spring 2018). Other jobs require more time than others. This is my own personal instance of the Marine Corps, talk to a recruiter nearby to YOUR DESIRED SCHOOL, I’m certain that you will not be the first and only case they’ve ever dealt with, they are trained to handle those situations. (For example, there are many Marines that go to the same university/ nearby community college that go to and we all go to the same unit). I hope this helps.
Hey Lee, really like your videos man. My dilemma is Reserve Units. In the Army Reserves and the Navy Reserves, they’re pretty flexible. If you move, you send up a chit. What I’m told constantly is, “Why the Reserves is so different and works so well for people pursuing their civilian careers is that it’s flexible.” I would be joining in Pennsylvania but I’d be planning on moving to New York for school. From what I’m gathering-I could be wrong- is that Marine Reserve Units are pretty well locked in. My question, is the Marine Corps Reserves flexible? If you decide to move, can you move to a different Reserve Unit? Now comes to mind the whole, “if your MOS is there.”
Can you describe how the pay, benefits, and signing bonuses work in the military? Also how they differs between active, reserve, and in between branches? Thanks
@ Sheldon lee I thought I was the only one who felt this way I didn’t come from a full family either and I was thinking about doing the guard for 8 yrs and then getting out and enjoying my life after that but I originally did the Air Force but sadly because of meps I failed and I’m confused and don’t know about trying it again
hey man, I'm 25, almost done with school, I graduate from the police academy next month, and I'm going to finish my last semester by May. I want to join the infantry and be a LEO at the same time, but don't know which would be better, Army National Guard Infantry or Marine Reserve Infantry. The ANG seems to have more perks, funding, schools, and better equipment. I couldn't find many advantages to the Marines other than earning the title and having that pride of belonging lol. Any insight into which you would pick? could you ask around? I would appreciate any info, thanks. I'm located in PA by the way.
wachitoboy1 first of all, congrats man that’s awesome! And to answer your question: honestly, it all depends on your personal preference... someone who did Navy Reserves, ANG, and is now a active duty Marine is “Devildog_dumbbell”. You should def check out his channel since he has some great insight on this
+Sheldon Lee Thanks for the response bro. I follow him as well, but he's active duty I believe- thought maybe you would know a lot more since you're in the reserves. I'll hit him up.
Would you ever consider commissioning? Could be the topic of a new video? I could definitely relate to the part about your mother as well. Great job, man!
OK, Let me cut to the chase on this video... I was a USMC Reservist in the 90s, during peace time... Now in 2019 as I write this review I can honestly say I regret NOT going Active Duty. I do have the pride of being a US Marine BUT I do not have the experience and sea stories of being active duty in the Fleet. My recommendation to all of you aspiring Marines is pick a MOS that interests you and commit to 4-years Active Duty. You will be far more connected to the Corps and your fellow Marines... this life experience is richer and you will appreciate it so much more as you get older, instead of wondering what could have been... Anyways, only you know what is right for you. but this is my personal advice.. Semper Fi to anyone that has earned the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor!
Doing great on the intro edit! Keep it up dude. Nice shots. I’ve always wanted to join the Marines, like yourself I looked after my grandma and now it’s time for the next chapter. Going to speak to a recruiter on how Cyber network would be as a reservist, were will I be stationed ( currently SaTx), certifications can be used as a civilian so lots of opportunities after boot camp, even current employment and friends big name companies opportunities. Or I go active duty for the experience for career and leadership and more drive that I seek and benefits of serving. Overall I want to do the best and more I am capable of, I come from a Family of Marines and when it’s time to move looks fluid. Any info you can give will be helpful. Keep up the great job on answering questions. Thanks.

Did you go reserve right out of high school? And do you feel that it was the best decision for you or for the situation you were in having to help your mom?
I came here in hopes to get the information about why you chose active vs reserves. However I stopped in a middle because there were more music and complains.
Sheldon Lee Makes me wish I could afford a BMW. For real I thought UA-cam was showing me a BMW ad. Skills are on point. Respect to you and what you do. Thank you for your service.
Tyler Alex I’m a firm believer in that if you try to learn as much as you can while working hard you can do anything you set your mind to. One day you’ll be able to afford one. Thank you for your support!
Hey Sheldon have you ever thought of going officer while in the reserves they must have a form of simultaneous membership program there geared toward those in either guard or reserves.
80811X I thought about it, but I’m happy with where I am right now. There are many programs like the PLC program for enlisted reservists who are interested in becoming an officer while attending school.
Would love it if I could figure out which MOS' are available for MARFORRES both Officer and Enlisted, since not all AD MOS' would seem to be available for Reserves. Thanks!!
I'm at the stage in my life trying to pick between active and reserves. Thanks for the video !
Sam same
I’d choose go active
Same
for real
whether active or reserve i 'm proud of u jarhead

I love that you are completely honest
Keep making videos bro
I understand it all bro you literally hit everything spot on on why I joined the marine reservist. I ship off soon Thank you so much
100% relate I felt it would be too selfish of me to go active duty who knows where when I have my handicapped retired grandparents that practically raised me and single hardworking mother with both of my younger sisters
Markanthony Garcia I hope you can work something out. Family is very important!

Which reserve MOS’s deploys the most often? In 6 years how many deployments can someone realistically expect? Thank you. I am considering OCC-R
So I have been enlisted in the USMC-reserves for 5 years now. Currently, I am awaiting my commission to be an active duty officer in the USMC. I highly appreciate your channel and information!! Because of you I’m joining marine corps reserves
I appreciate you a lot bro
What else do u do to support your luxurious lifestyle other than being a reservist?

I'm in a similar situation with a single parent. thanks for the video!
Hey man, idk if you did a video on this but what is your civilian job and how do you balance it?
Wya with the videos man, did you get deployed? Or are you just focusing on your job/personal life.
Great video Corporal Lee. Good Job. You have set great example for all Military personnel. This is from another Asian Marine Corporal Alan Phung. Semper Fi.
Uh... was that a car commercial for an intro? Just curious lol
Hey Sheldon! Do marine reservist get deployed? And if so around how long? And do you know anything about mos 3381 (marine cooks) ?
Nice bud 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Ericka Bernie thank you!
Your videos are great. Lots of useful information and fun to watch!
Ignorance bothers me a lot too. Disappointing....
Young Oorah bruhhhh tell me about it
Thanks for the video. Im leaving December 4 on an active duty contract but i was really stuck in whether i should do reserves or not due to a similar childhood upbringing.
zqfn both are great options, as long as you take advantage of your opportunities. Best of luck!
Hoping you’ll get back into the vlogs, they’ve been helpful on my beginning journey into a college student/ reservist
do you have a recommended active duty marine UA-camr, I'm going to be shipping off to boot camp soon

Ben Penserga thank you!
Can you describe how the pay, benefits, and signing bonuses work in the military? Also how they differs between active, reserve, and in between branches? Thanks
Did you end up finding out the differences
I live in Downey California bro if i join the Reserves how would that work explain to me
You live in downtown silver spring? I grew up there. I miss the he'll out of that place. I wasn't down town but up around Sligo woods area.
I was thinking of going to the reserves a year after college for the same reasons .

Also in a 9yr relationship, home owners and is a serious decision and knowing would I’d love to do.
Come Back!! D:
Hope your doing alright brother and come back with more videos. Stay frosty.
Hey man I really want to join the marines reserves but I have 3 surgery’s 2 of those are knees and the other one is a ankle surgery and a have a plate and some screws in there and I heard the marines are selective about that and I talked to my marines recruiter and he says it takes a while to get accepted when you have medical problems and I might not even get accepted but I really don’t want to waste time and I know that with the national guard it will be way easier but I don’t want to think of my self like weak or nothing what you think man?

I have a plate and screws in my ankle and I had to get a waiver. It got approved within a couple months. Worst they can say is no
You're a really good son sir. Salute to you.
Hey man I’m 20 yrs old and I’ve always wanted to do something in law enforcement. Do you think joining the reserves would be beneficial to me??
I’d be a police officer and a reservist. I know the army has programs within police departments and where you get a interview after AIT .
Life🙌🏼 i hope more vids soon. Informational or other day in a life!
jays sunga you got it!
Really hope to be a successful future marine reservist like you sir.
Alejandro Piedra anything is possible if you dedicate yourself!
Very well said brother. Semper Fi
Devildog Dumbbell rah!
How are Mr. Lee? This is the first video ive seen on your channel and i feel like you are doing great at explaining your views. I just have a question for you about your decision on reserve journey. Did you go reserve right out of high school? And do you feel that it was the best decision for you or for the situation you were in having to help your mom?
Where did you go brother ):
Hey I’m thinking about joining the marine reserve. Can I be an MP as a reserve?
I love this video !! Thank you for sharing this ✨
what’s your main job bro? i’m thinking either reserves or active but i kinda need money😅
If you need the money, probably consider active duty.
That is my issue too, I really need the money so I'm going active
I came here in hopes to get the information about why you chose active vs reserves. However I stopped in a middle because there were more music and complains.
How’s the pay in the reserve
You get x2 what active duty gets when a normal reservist. So 2 day weekend =4 days of pay. If activated it's the same as active
How can I get good at pull ups and push ups if I can’t even do one?
Great editing!! What do you use to edit your videos?
Actual video starts at 4:39
Yes,yes, USNaval reserves are more
Fun and flexible!
What do you do full time? Looks like you're able to afford a pretty comfortable lifestyle.
Nelsike I’m a contractor for the Navy :)
how can i get in touch with you bro. im in the area as well and have tons of questions
Is this a BMW commercial?
Tyler Alex 😂 could be
Sheldon Lee Makes me wish I could afford a BMW.
Thank you for what you do. And most definitely. I refuse to do high end retail security loss prevention for another year. Its killing my soul.
What program do you use to edit your videos
Hey Sheldon have you ever thought of going officer while in the reserves they must have a form of simultaneous membership program there geared toward those in either guard or reserves.
80811X I thought about it, but I’m happy with where I am right now. There are many programs like the PLC program for enlisted reservists who are interested in becoming an officer while attending school.
Sheldon Lee gotcha I just thought looks better on your resume.
