- This video compares the latest Yonex Astrox 88D Pro badminton racket with the original 88D version.
How will the 88D Pro differ from the 88D?
How do they feel and more importantly, how do they play?
Full written reviews for both rackets can be found on my blog:

I realy like the 88d pro, it gives me a very good feeling for all swings, and it is also quite fast. I tried both s pro and d pro version and prefer to use d pro. My old racket is 88s 2018 but now main racket is 88d pro :)
88D pro is growing on me so much. I always carry it in my bag. Whilst I prefer the bead shape of 100ZZ, I’m loving the slightly lighter headed 88D pro
Hi,
I demoed it today and I played ok with it. But it felt slow 😶, because the racket that I tried prior to this, was a NF800.
But the 88d pro is way easier to use than the Nanoflare.
I can't decide, so I'm looking online for advice
Unfortunately, I can't demo them both at the same time. 😑
@@1Flyingfist so you now have more context. It depends what you’re looking for in a racket. Is it speed, power, etc
@@TheBadmintonCoach Hi, I didn't see your reply.
I went for the Nanoflare 800, as I felt that i needed the speed and faster handling.
Nice one, Mr. Paul...I would like to get the new astrox 88D pro with 3U..for a while I still use the old 88S. 👍👍👍
I think you will be pleasantly surprised
Spot on review. I am using the 88D pro, it delivers tremendous power at the back while still lighting quick around defense, net and flat exchanges. It is really close with the arcsaber 11, but I prefer the 88D pro more due to its power and again, fast racket swings. Perfect for doubles game.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the 100zz (4u) Vs 88D pro (4u)
Agree with you
88D pro is surprisingly lighter in the head compared to 100ZZ. I like both rackets. The head shape on 88D pro gives a more compact feel on the shuttle, sometimes a very closed in feel but swings faster than ZZ
Good video as always Sir Paul
Hi Paul, just want to ask your own opinion as to which is better as an all around racket between 88Dpro vs 100zz. I would appreciate your response.
Vernon my opinion isn’t relevant because you mustn’t select a racket based on this option unless you have followed me and tend to prefer the same rackets as I do.
What is the recommended string for 88d pro 4ug5? for control? for hard hitters?
whichever string you prefer
what do you think about the 88D Pro 4U vs 3U? Since the pro is faster, shouldn't the 3U be fine to help with more power?
The difference between a 4U and 3U can be 1-9g I doubt many players will feel a 1g difference but 9g is huge. In U.K. we are limited on grip size. We have 3U G4 or 4U G5
I think many players would select 3U if they could get correct grip size
Will you also be looking at the 88s pro vs the tour and game?
Yes I have those rackets and will review all of them individually and record a comparison video. I’m just testing the 88D versions at the moment
Hi Paul, I know you're huge fan of the astrox 100 ZZ, but would you now say that astrox 88D pro is your first choice and 100 zz is your second? I am enjoying my 88 D pro a lot and planning to buy the 100zz as a back up racket. Just want to know what you think of the two rackets. If you could do a video review on 88D pro and ZZ together, that would be the best! Cheers!
Gilang many thanks for your comments. If you enjoy 88D pro so much why would you buy 100 ZZ? Surely you should have two rackets the same? 88D Pro isn’t my first choice but it is growing on me.
I like all of the latest Astrox rackets and am currently testing the latest 99 Pro which I also love.
I am fortunate to have these rackets in my bag which allows me to switch. I use 100ZZ a lot
Thanks for the review sir. Regards from yogyakarta of indonesia👍
You are welcome. I hope all my friends are safe and well in Indonesia
Can you tell something about Ashaway x shadow ? How it is to play.
I’ve no idea. I haven’t tested that racket
Thanks for your review
As always, great review Paul!
Lead tape 🙈🙈
Hello, can I ask which strings good for 88d pro? I want to try BG 66ultimax
Try Ultimax. There isn’t an ideal string for a racket, it really does depend how you prefer to have your string and tension
@@TheBadmintonCoach yeah thank you. I’d go with ultimax with my 88d pro. Will try soon BG65 ti.
@@lawrenceolano9845 did you end up getting 66 ultimax on your 88d pro?
@@west9383 yes sir :)
@@lawrenceolano9845 nice bro. I ordered my 88d pro 4U and it’s arriving tomorrow. With 66UM at 25 lbs tension. How do you like your racket ?
Paul could you review Ashaway Phantom X Speed II?
I don’t have the racket
@@TheBadmintonCoach will you be reviewing the racket in the future? I know quite a few people are curious to see how it compares to Yonex’s Astrox series!
@@RegensDominor I can’t guarantee because it depends whether a retailer sends me the racket. It’s been available for some time so it’s unlikely but who knows?
@@TheBadmintonCoach I understand. Have you tried the original x speed? Apparently the only difference is the frame now uses 40 tonne graphite to allow 30lbs tension.
@@RegensDominor I think I reviewed the racket years ago
So the old 88d is more powerful?
It’s more head heavy. That doesn’t necessarily make it more powerful as that’s down to the player
