Yones Astrox 88D pro Third Gen Review: Absolutely powerful, absolutely heavy

- For me this is more of a singles racket to be honest. I feel like this is a true "pro" racket and the 2nd gen will be much more suitable for a majority of players, hence why it's so popular likely. For those who can handle and seek the absolute hardest hitting racket there is, I think they can find it here. 2G NAMD is incredible, but that head weight is so much - especially for me coming from a 1000z.
Most accurate review/feedback of this racquet bro. Well done!
Thx 😅
Hi Nigel, thanks for the review. I used to use and 2nd gen and changed to the 3rd gen 88d pro and honestly it's a lot more forgiving and easy to play with compared to the previous version. the second gen feels a lot more stiffer than the new one. The controlled stiffness of the newer model is far better for control shots and power hitting while being easier to play with.
Nigel, I love watching your reviews! Thank you very much for all of these awesome videos :D
I’ve had both generations of the astrox 88d pros i think the flex force of the 3rd 88d pro is rly amazing as it gives good control and power! But i think the older 88d pros are tad bit more demanding. Maybe cuz of how the racket flexes and imo the older 88d is head heavier. But ya i think this is a good racquet overall
Great review!
How does the head-heaviness of the 88d pro compare to the 100zz ? Also I find it really interesting that you said that the racket was head heavier and stiffer because Ckyew said that the 3rd gen felt both more flexible and less head-heavy
Felt more demand to me then 100zz
I did felt the same as CKyew, for me 88D pro 3rd felt lighter on the swing but when it hits, you will feel the weight. I came from 100zz, VTZF2, NF1000Z 3U, this 3rd gen 88D pro just felt alright, just arrived yesterday and played for an hour, for me it suits my playstyle well. I understand that for Nigel, he will feel definitely feel the difference since he mentioned he was using a Nanoflare 1000z (4U? which is headlight + extra stiff!!) Nonetheless, i felt like this felt lighter compared to 100zz. In terms of solid feel 100zz comes out on top, power seems to be equal, on defense i prefer the 88DP3 it feels more faster, not faster than 1000z 3U.
I would also agree with @theintensiveone and CKyew. The 3rd generation feels like a mix out of 88d (2nd) the 100zz and a bit 77pro. It is definitely faster than the 88D before and for me also a small bit faster than the 100zz. I love that. It is also lighter but not less powerful than before, just different. I would say the 3rd gen is now a more all-round racket with power, but also more control with a bit of flex at the right spots. The only thing that is missing to me is the drive quality. The second gen and the 100zz feels like on rails. Very solid. The new 88 feels to me less solid and powerful on drive and some shots. I keep testing it and actually consider to switch from my 100zz to this one if I can manage the slightly different timing.
@@marcelgabor4383 How is it compare to the 77pro?
@@TheIntensiveOneDid you use the 88D pro 3rd gen in 3U or 4U?
Hey the power assist bumper can you replace it? for maintenance purposes pls?
Thanks for the review, really appreciate it.
My pleasure!
I have all 88D gen. In my hand, personally, 3rd gen feels like somewhere "in between" 1st and 2nd gen.
Do you recommend this as a replacement for zf2. Been using 3U zf2 and kinda looking for a new racket. Thanks :DD
Is it better/does it hit harder than the 100zz?
Yes
how does it compare to 100ZZ ? in my hand, 88D is too heavy, so it doesn't generate best of power output, my head-heavy racket limit is 77 Pro. Strangely out of my rackets, 100ZZ helps me generate power the most, steep and hard smash. tmi : 100ZZ has same hit timing with 800 Pro, so i do switch 800Pro and 100ZZ
@@failuq I pick 100zz. I don’t need much head weight for power
@@nigeldollentas yes, 100ZZ serves a late base to base backhand so well for me
Of course the 2nd gen dpro power are more concentrated because the 1st gen frame are more toward a big sweetspot design.
Will you be also reviewing the 88S Third Gen as well?
Of course! Soon
You should record your video with the device horizontal
What strings are you using? I keep looking for good black strings
Exbolt 65

@@pw5391 no
@@nigeldollentas I was holding my friend's 88s and 88D just swinging in the air it does feel 88D a lot smoother and lighter 6 people tried all feel the same we are trying to figure out why lol any suggestions?🤔
what about 88spro compared to 88s3rd gen?
Same for other lineup of 88D 3rd gen ?
I use 88 2nd tour.. very good power, but easy to play..
Is it the same with 3rd gen ?? Or has the entire lineup changed ??
Are you reviewing 3u or 4u version?
Gen 2 88D pro is much better than Gen 3
Can you give a reason why coz I’m planning to buy the 3rd gen?
@@wesleytalidano1918 Nothing really, the gen 2 has been a fan favorite so they're biased about it
Did you test with 3u or 4u?
4u
Is it true it out smashes 99 pro?
Yes
Kuya im keen do you know me?, from tiktok?
Hi. May I ask if you own a NF1000z?

@@nigeldollentas That's great po. Ask ko lang kung naka-experience na kayo ng paint crack in the frame? I own one po and I'm carefully using it for almost 6 months and got surprised na nagkaroon nalang ng paint crack below the ISOMETRIC print.
more point play footage with it >:C
If u feel too much heavy this 3rd gen 88D how could u play and use the 2nd gen 88d.
I hope u better switch to Nanoflare series instead of misleading information.
I have 88d pro 4u 3rd gen with exbolt 68 string. It doesn't feel heavy at all
@@amitkhuraijam6161 the 2nd gen is less head heavy and stiff. And I have been using the 1000z for like a year now? I hope you stop spewing nonsense from your mouth instead of misleading information.
@@nigeldollentas u better play nanoflare 1000z and stop making nonsense video over here.
My whole life is being using Headheavy racket. Don't blame with ur weak physicality and train ur wrist rotation more .
So much ironical to hear the words all say in this review lol 😆 😂 🤣
