When I was working for the company that owned Ferodo, the braking technical guys told me that in a quantitative test, they measured around a 16% loss of braking power between having *clean and lubricated* brake cam spindle and brake cable, to having *clean but unlubricated* cam spindle and cable........... basically, you pull the lever just as hard, but a sixth of that power is lost just overcoming cable & spindle friction. Food for thought.......

16% is the distance between stopping and hitting someone. Good to know! I'll get a new cable on this too.
