This works. Busted a missing key trailer lock on my t5 trimax lock. This exact pipe was at Home Depot. I had to sit on the ground and use my legs against the hitch but it snapped off. Thanks for the video and idea.
Thanks, I’m going to try it on my tow hitch. I have my keys, but it doesn’t rotate at all. I’ve all applied penetrating oil and WD 40 with no luck, so I’m going to try this. 🙏🏾
Nice! I've wanted to switch out my hitch for over a year, figured I'd need to cut it off or have a locksmith take it off. This thing came off like butter 😅 Thanks for posting the helpful tip!
Hahaha, bought a used 05' Expedition a few years ago and had no key, but I just used the 2" ball for all my needs, but now want to put a bike rack on there, and after watching this video, I had a old motorcycle street bike SS front fork tube that I use for a cheater bar and it snapped like butter.. I was laughing too. Thanks for the vid, liked!
Thank you for this. I bought a truck a year ago and was never given the key for the tow hitch pin. I needed to swap my hitch for the first time today as I was buying a large travel trailer. Was about to go ham with a hammer and decided to see if anyone else has had the same issue. Grabbed a random jack handle and had it off in 10 seconds with the same reaction of what? That was to easy.
I had to do this with a tow smart Baja 7305 hitch pin that I lost keys. I bought 1.5” pipe from Lowe’s (keep receipt to bring back..$20) it worked and was easy to bust lock.
I remember watching this video a while ago. Well, I do have a right key however it seems like the pin inside is stuck even when I unlocked…. Thank you for sharing!👍
Wow!! That was easy break. Yikes😳 I have the same type of hitch lock myself thinking it’s the safest way without getting my hitch stollen. Well, that makes me rethink again. Thanks for the demo👍
Proof that these locks provide a False sense of security, only keeping honest people honest. To slow thieves and prevent prank pin pulls I use a Grade 8 Bolt for my pin. With loctite thread-locker on the 2 nuts holding it in place, followed by a bit of J-B Weld and a cotter key. This has kept everything snugly in place. Yes the pin can still be removed but will take a lot more time and effort to do so. And yes it will now be a royal pain if I ever want to swap out the hitch. But the hitch will still be there to swap out.
Truly surprising. I did not expect success. Most thieves aren't interested in a $20 hitch insert like that. But,...those fancy and expensive adjustable inserts are a couple hundred dollars. Even my simple inexpensive one from Harbor Freight runs $60.
i also though of this that if i had a boat or a small trailer attached maybe they could steal that. which explains why my dad always had a pad lock on the trailer hitch lock.
Thank you allowed me to pull my hitch out to put my flag pole on my Jeep up just in time for Memorial Day! Thank you too all our fallen men and women who protected our country god bless!

so true
Does not work for me. Bent the pipe.
interesting i wonder if the pipe was a thin walled pipe like aluminum. i used galvanized pipe. really thick
Galvanized my guy, cost more but made strong
I used vice grip at the end of the lock. Worked like a charm.
I’ve got a key and can’t get the damn thing off!
maybe the inside got full of dirt. try to clean it out or just break it off and use another or just go with a pin. good luck
@@ArizonaHotHomestead I ended up breaking it off.. I’ll never buy that type again.. thanks
