This is disappointing. I really wanted to see some locks that actually work really well.

We have a Rogue Trailer that Alumaweld boats come with. The coupler is bolted on so the coupler lock if theif is smart will bring their own coupler.
Some years ago we stopped to fish an area in our way home. Tide was really low so we turned around and came back to boat ramp. Loaded boat and secured. Started to drive off and hear and feel the trailer bang. Get out and the nut on the ball is half ways off. So someone obviously was going to unbolt the ball and blot onto their hitch. Boat shop put spot of weld on threads of ball bolt. I had a lock on the coupler of the trailer. With a bolted on coupler I worry about that too.
Insurance companies don’t pay what boats are currently worth. A guy way before Covid had a 50 hp Honda outboard stolen off his boat in his driveway. Insurance didn’t give him enough to replace it so went to a cheap brand of 50 hp outboard.

Very disappointing list. It doesn’t take long to find several UA-cam videos showing why anything with a traditional key lock is a waste of money. These can be picked with ease or a pipe can be used to break the lock off. I’m looking for options that can’t be found in every hardware store across America as these are the brands that have been proven to be opened without much trouble.

After the video was completed, we began carrying ICON coupler locks (see link). They aren't an inexpensive option, but they're extremely rugged and well built. Hopefully, they are more like what you're looking for.

Proven industries locks are the best, etrailer needs to step it up and sell proven locks!

Those look pretty nice! We'll get with our product acquisition people and see if we can pick those up. That being said, we just started carrying the ICON trailer coupler locks that look really secure. You can check those out by using this link:

Consider AMPlocks. They are better than all these by far

    All you need is grinder...

What alternative would you suggest? Just about any lock can be defeated if the thief has the time and opportunity.

Is there any that you cannot get off? That would be the best kind.

To be honest with you, locks are for keeping honest folks honest. If a thief is bound and determined to defeat a lock to steal your stuff, they're gonna do it. Bank vaults even get broken into. The best case scenario is that a lock will provide deterrence. The bad guy sees the lock and decides to move on to an easier target. This being said, we recently started carrying the ICON line of trailer coupler locks that look to offer a high level of security. They aren't inexpensive, but they look really promising.

Any lock can be broken bit at least they’ll make noise so they can be caught.

About 2 min's with a battery 4" grinder. Thieves these days don't give a sh1t about noise. They're gone before anyone really twigs

After we posted that video, we began offering the ICON line of locks that offer a higher level of security than what's shown in that video. You can check them out here:

That's a fair point, but to be perfectly honest that information is already available and has been for years. We constantly get questions from folks wondering how secure a given lock is. The real question is how much deterrence does a particular lock offer. A determined thief can defeat just about any lock given the time and opportunity. Bank vaults can be broken into if the thief is determined enough....
