- This was the first time I've seen Orca Encounter at SeaWorld Orlando since the Hunt/Splash segment has been removed. Instead, more splashing happens during the last segment of the show. What do you think about this change?

i've gone a couple times this year, it depends on the show, even with their new stadium they've done hunt a couple times.

Is their curving fin a sign of their captive unhappy life?
It's something that happens more in captivity mostly because whales tend to spend more time at the surface there. There's no bones or muscle in the dorsal fin and over time the connective tissue in the fin can weaken and bend, especially for the males who have dorsal fins twice the height of the females. It isn't really connected to mood and doesn't really change once it's curved over. There's very few wild orcas that have curved dorsal fins as well.

No es cierto. No son maltratados.
No se les dobla por que sean maltratadas, se atrofian debido a que en cautividad no pueden usarlas. Este fenómeno se ha visto también en ejemplares salvajes.
Nota: Las orcas no son maltratadas, pero son básicamente forzadas a hacer el espectáculo y no se pueden liberar, pues serían rechazadas por otras orcas y forzadas a vivir una vida solitaria. Como la orca que hizo de Willy.

One thing I noticed is Makaio fluke are curving a lot faster than Truas, I wonder why? Love the show over all. Not gonna lie one big world was kind of boring why did they make all the females splash and why did they take out the hunting segment and you can tell Katina lost a lot of energy whenever doing at the beginning in with Nalani and Malia, I wish they would bring the hunting segment back so the females can at least do one big world with behaviors and stuff
Trua is Tilikums grandson, and Makaio is one of Tilikums sons. Truas father, Taku, never had much of a curved flyke!
Hunt was removed so the orcas wouldn't be getting bored, they are changing up Orca Encounter

Due to the fact that they stay at the surface longer than wild whales

It could be due to stress, the lack of friction with the sea when they travel in the wild, it's hard to tell since they are trapped

These Orcas are amazing. I hope I can become a trainer at Seaworld so I can work with these amazing animals.

Personally I like the hunting segment it's annoying they got rid of it and the music 🎶 was amazing
I agree. It removes yet another educational element. Hopefully they’re reworking it behind the scenes, in an effort to be better at providing solid educational content around the whales.

@Rope the orca 4473 They only removed the hunt temporarily. They only have 5 whales now, and so have more shows per day they made the shows shorter to not overwork the whales.

madam, the orcas of these generation are BORN on these pools, they would never survive in the nature alone since they were trained to do tricks not to hunt, its better they being like this rather than dead.
It's to late to release them. They're to old to learn to live in the wid. It's best to stop breeding them and give them a good rest of their days and never raise another captive Orca
@@JB-dv7ew Subjective...how many captive Orcas have ever been released into the wild? Keiko, the orca from Free Willy was released and got to live in the ocean for 5 years before he died. Sure, it's not perfect but it's more humane. Release them in a group and at least their weird orca seaworld pod can live in a group and visit humans in relative safety. Hell, let the captive orcas try and teach the free ones about humans, they deserve a bit of payback.

I was in sea world once and it was great the killer whales are great they are high the food chain and then are great critures. Its crazy how big they grew, I remember the young ones as babies. I love to see how now they actually name the whales, its not shamu and baby shamu anymore, I'm glad.
