@@matthewbartow1876 By scandalous and devious ways. AFTER they answer to The NCAA Rules Committee, their title and Trophy will get yanked. Pretty obvious why Harbaugh got out of dodge real fast.
What makes this more unbelievable, not only did they win back to back championships, then beat Michigan, but that year they won their 3rd consecutive championship. Talk about talent.
I know it had no impact on the outcome, but let's take a minute to appreciate the hustle on the part of Michigan's kicker who, after his kick was blocked, managed to run down the App. St. player and prevent the TD. Again, not that it mattered, but what a show of hustle and pride.
Although Corey Lynch (the guy who blocked the kick and nearly took it all the way) was tackled out of bounds he did fumble the ball. Now if he was tackled further from the sideline that would’ve counted as a fumble and you never know what could’ve happened after that had a Michigan player picked it up.
@@lakerskid2013true…but the game clock had already expired: so the only way that would make a difference is if Michigan returned recovered fumble for a touchdown
App State is no push over, and have proven that they belong in the FBS. Arguably, App State and Boise State are the two best non Power 5 teams in football. Sure, you could say UCF is currently the best non Power 5 team, but their success is more recent. App State, on the other hand, is consistent, as they destroy their in conference opponents, and barely lose to the Power 5 teams.
It's been almost thirteen years since this happened seems like it was yesterday. They made the whole state of North Carolina proud that day. Everyone expect Michigan Fans became App State fans that day.
However, they would bounce back, after the blowout to Oregon. They finished the 2007 season 9-4, in the top 25, and got a win against last year's champions, Florida and Tim Tebow, in the Capitol One Bowl.
App State would win the FCS championship that year. They moved up to FBS after the 2013 season, one year after Jerry Moore retired (he coaches App State for 24 years).

Andrew Ingram So what? 30 seconds is too damn long. Run it up the middle, then ground the ball with 4 seconds left. You guys are damn lucky Manningham’s catch didn’t ruin this game.
Andrew Ingram Let me explain a little about my mindset. I’m a lifelong Sooner fan, and I have suffered through horrific defenses for almost a decade. Under no circumstances would I ever want a Mike Stoops led defense to have to defend an offense for 30 seconds while the offense only needs 3 to win. I don’t know if you remember, or even care, about the time Oklahoma State beat Oklahoma on a Tyreek Hill punt return with just about a minute left. OU had already punted, but Ok State committed a penalty, so Bob Stoops decided to punt again. Most everybody rips Bob for doing that, but I perfectly understood his thought process. He was trying to bleed as much clock as possible because he knew his defense couldn’t defend jack squat of anything. Even if he only took 8 seconds off the clock, that was worth the risk to him. So anyway, when I remembered App St had left enough time for Michigan to win it, I just thought, wow, so stupid. Because I am just used to seeing defenses crap the bed and get gashed by big play after big play.

Can we talk about what terrible game management this was by App State coach Jerry Moore at the end? Nearly cost his team the game. 1st and ten with 30 seconds to go and no timeouts and you kick it??? How about: take the snap, center the ball, let the clock bleed down, spike it and then kick it. If you’re so worried about a bad snap or a block that you recover and time running out, and you want a second shot at it, how about at least drain the clock down to under 10 seconds before spiking and then kicking it??? I couldn’t believe it then and I still can’t now tbqh.

This is why I love sports. Anything can happen.
This was the old sports center I loved
15 years later and they upset Texas A&M in aggieland!
I remember seeing that score scroll across the bottom and assuming it was an error… then the “Game Break” highlight guy interrupted and showed the ending…
And now App State beats No. 6 Texas A&M.
I miss the old sportscenter. Good throwback!
