Hey everyone! Thanks for subscribing and thanks so much for all of your great comments! You've helped make this one of the top volleyball videos on UA-cam!!! I'm sorry I haven't responded to any of your questions and comments but I've been locked out of my account for like 3 years and finally got it back!!! To answer the most common questions: The song is Insomnia by Faithless. Leonel is 6'5" tall I think that's just over 2 meters. He touches over 12'. The star of Men's Cuban National Volleyball team has a 50" Vertical Jump. This guy is truly amazing to watch.
I watched this video everyday decade ago while I was training to the Olympics !!! Leonel you legend!!!

@@theoriginalrudeboy2916 Just start jumping every day. Rest a day when you feel you really need to but otherwise just jump more. Make sure everyday you get warmed up to some degree and put max effort into each jump. My jump went up like two inches in the first 5 days when I started jumping everyday. And your body gets really fast at recovering so you don't have to worry about overtraining

from 1:09 to 1:11 you see him do a PERFECT prep for a jump. he's moving quick and has his knees bent at a near 90

It is very easy to criticize the fact that it is not really a 50 inch jump. Maybe it isn't, but even if it isn't just look at this video ! He is incredible ! look at his moves, he is superb, best volleyball player I've seen. Give him the credit instead of criticizing ... It's not like any of you can do a 50 inch jump so...
in order to ensure that he doesn't get a net violation he has to actually jump from the attack line because his approach has so much height and momentum. His height and form when he spikes makes me want to cry its so beautiful
I'm part of the GB Men's Development Team.
I'm registered as a player for the team but still at the stage where I can just jump high and technical skill isn't on par but I may get a run out.

Wow, and I thought my 39" vertical was awesome...but hey, I'm 5'10, he's 6'5, so looks pretty impressive when a shorty like me jumps lol.
And for landing on one foot, I do that too sometimes....really trying to correct that.

wow that is amazing. id love to see him play basketball. but i think its perfect watching him jump as a volleyball player. that way we get to see him get up almost every play instead of just a few times a game

I grew up in Cuba when we had a monstruous team in the 90s, and from what I recall, the guy that always stood out for being the highest jumper in the WORLD at the time was Angel Dennis. That was, at least, what everyone said on the streets.
It would be really nice to take a closer look into that.

Aside from the fact that he's Cuban, an outside hitter, doesn't hit any of the same sets, is 6'5, and actually knows what he's doing... *yeah it's exactly like Hinata because he plays the same sport*.

Yes, I know, and it is measured from the bottom of your foot to the ground when your body is extended. When you hurdle, you can lift your legs up so just your butt is above the hurdle. 4'2" from foot to ground - I'm sure he could shave off another 2.5 feet by merely lifting foot up to about butt level, PLUS he has a running start. He's 6'5", his legs are longer than 2.5 feet.
I've already thought all that through. Hurdle is always bigger than vertical. I don't make stupid thoughtless comments
That's nowhere near 50". His head would need to be 2' 7" above the net to reach that feat.

I agree. Leonel is 6' 5". Regulation net height is 7' 11 5/8". From the footage, he may be getting only 40" vert at best @1:25(only footage where he is jumping relatively straight up). He has impressive hops, but none of the footage showed him jumping close to 50"

Leonel is 6'5". The top of his head is 19" from the top of the 8 foot net. So, if he were jumping 50 inches, the top of his head would be 31 inches (2 1/2 feet) above the top of the net. The best view is at 0:43, and he is maybe 20 inches above the net. So, we're not seeing anywhere close to 50 inches, at least in this video. Still phenomenal to watch though, thanks for posting.

I don´t want to destroy some peoples motivation but you have to born with it. With training u could never jump so high like him.
Wow really. Kelly Bagget said when he gained vertical jump and lost game due to not focusing on basketball, the scout actually noticed him because he was making extraordinary plays due to his athleticism. Leonel has serious potential, if he wanted he could dominate in basketball.
I can see the Jordanese in him at 1:15. Very inspiring to watch.

6'5" and a 50 inch vertical is pretty formidable. However, I did exaggerate what I said. But I still stand firm that he has natural ability. I love the way he plays volleyball, it's extremely exciting, but I think his frame is also perfect for basketball. Sorry for making all you guys mad with my outlandish comments, right? 63 inch vertical is believable 'for me' since he's making every kind of dunks at only 5' 10!! that's a for sure 45-50+ inch vertical for every dunks he's making....
just imagine him using the momentum and jumping "freely" to the highest to measure his vertical.... 63 sounds right...

It’s almost like jordan, impressive! maybe just a slight difference because he was born 6’5 but jordan 6’6, or else they both would have the same height reach, both powerful explosive sportsman
alot of polymetric jumping exercises. I play collegiate football and they have us doing all kinds of those. I was able to increase my vertical 4 inches in the past year to 38". Box jumps work very well!!

Hey, you ever play? It's been 12 years, doubt you remember this man or this comment, but I'm curious
Swing-It means you run behind the other hitters to confuse the blockers.
Look at 21 seconds in. You can see the setter and the middle blocker are both in the air. The strong side player is making his approach. The other back row is faking an attack and the libero (in red) is just back there too. If the setter is front row Leonel is back row,if he is back row then Leonel is playing opposite. Do they play 6-2 or 5-1? If it's 6-2 then Leonel is certainly playing opposite.
