I like a brighter nature when it is well implemented, mostly upper mids boost, loved the huawei at low volume, but i agree with you, it is unlistenable at high volumes, no bass and too harsh highs 😕 As always thanks for the great work and the effort you put on this highly detailed videos, a friend wanted to buy this huawei instead of a Motion+ 😅, i will show him this video

@@mdluk199 i eq my Motion+ for rock, balanced but with a little boost in the 3kHz area, also a bit in 12.5k, i guess that is a kind of "joy" tuning. I understand why you say it is better, i think it is a matter of taste, but for me, the Motion+ can sound like the joy if you tune it that way, and the joy just can't sound as full as the Motion+ no matter what you do
I bought this from Amazon for £69.99 and it's one of the best speakers I've ever heard. Way better than the Soundcore motion + as it has way better clarity.

There are lots of positive reviews for the sound joy especially from customers. The Soundcore Motion + doesn't sound great out of the box. Maybe it can be improved by EQ settings but it should sound better as standard. I bought a pair of Soundcore noise cancelling headphones last year which were supposedly outstanding according to reviews but I thought again they were very mediocre and cheap feeling. I think Soundcore must spend a lot sweetening reviewers of their products

Hi Alan, not sure where to ask this so I just figured your newest video would the best bet. I travel around a lot so I'm basically looking for a bluetooth speaker with an aux input to plug into a TV. It'll be used for movies/gaming more than music. I'd love a ton of bass and a good soundstage if possible. Out of all the reviews you've done are there any that fit the bill and are under 1kg? Not too bothered about price.

The Motion+ blows the Huawei out of the water. I think Devialet should stick to building their own speakers... I'd love to see a b/t speaker actually using some of their various drivers. Their speaker drivers are insane, and i'm not just talking about those hideously expensive Phantom things.
I believe that speakers sound best in a stereo pair and give a much fuller and more spacious sound. more Bass and other improvements to the overall soundstage. I own the Sonos roam stereo pair and the Bose Flex stereo pair. For me it's not so much about how much bass or high tones, but the overall sound image and that the music comes into its own. conclusion for my hearing is that 1 speaker is of no use
Nothing special, bright and a bit harsh imo... Only great sounding devialet is the Gold phantom which is really linear and smooth with insane bass extension... (but for 2500£ 🥴) Great video as always 👍 👌 👏
Probably should note that aptx only applies to phones with a Qualcomm chip… iPhones, and anything with a Samsung or mediatek chipset don’t have aptx support have to use sbc with the motion+ it was pretty disappointing when switching to an iPhone to find out that the anker doesn’t support acc

What I noticed with mine is that I have to pair it every single time Im turning it on :( is this something I can try to set up in app? Ive got xiaomi android phone and with all previous speakers I had to pair them only once and than they will simply pair automaticaly but not this Huawei ???
Great review as always Alan. However, i have just thought, you used to do battery life and that is really very important when it comes to battery powered speakers. It's all good a speaker being loud and having rich bass, but if that saps battery power and kills it, then maybe it's good not to have such power draining bass? Just a thought...
i stopped the battery tests because its not really fair. as you say play bass heavy music less battery life, play louder less battery life, sony reduces volume without you realising and you get more battery life, if the speaker can go low it will have less battery life. its not a good way to just compare between speakers so now i just tell you the watt hours so you simply see who has the bigger capacity and hope people understand the other elemnets that make one speaker play longer than another.

From a big brand I'm surprised that it costs £90. But its weird that It doesn't have APTX because then the Sound Joy as is a speaker that neither here or there if that makes sense. You want a speaker with low latency then the Motion Plus or Tribit Stormbox Pro is there. You want a rugged speaker with the same form factor and party lights couldn't care less about latency then the cheaper Flare 2 is there.
@@alanrossreviews i have boom and its great, but I am counting on something that will be able to play more details than boom but also play lower like boom, and if such a small speaker like boost can play lower than motion plus, I think that a small change of the motion plus construction would help :P

Sound Joy is way better than the motion + if you listen to rock or any kind of music that's not just boom boom bass.

you wont get a ton off bass under 1kg. the nearest i can suggest is a minirig mk3 plus its subwoofer.
