It's amazing how small this is! Mary looks ghastly here... All complexions are beautiful, but it just doesn't seem right. Idk. I'm curious how we're able to analyze the under-drawing and where the missing panels are. Maybe we'll find out someday.
COMPOSITION: Yes, it is a lovely painting, and I like the idea of a series of small glimpses into the life of Christ from the Bible. TECHNIQUE: Can anyone comment on the brownish droopy-eyed appearance in one eye of Christ and one of the bride? May we assume it is discolored old varnish? Also, may we assume that the reds and blues have darkened and faded over time respectively? (Note: Isabella was indeed devout. I'm not fond of the extra-Biblical cult of Mary scenes; but that is the best she would have known in that era before easy access to the Bible.)
Didn't she brag about bathing only twice in her miserable, stench riddled life? So, what exactly do you admire about her? Could it be her deadly bouquet?
@@ThePayola123 In what book did you read she took a bath twice? Plenty to admire about her, most importantly finishing off the reconquista, freeing Europe from Islam, almost of equal importance is her financing of Columbus's ocean crossing that changed the world completely, made the West a world power and in the end south/north America have developed fantastic cultures.
@@ThePayola123 she was the greatest of the rulers europe has ever known in every sense, brave, strong Clever, beautiful, educated, strict but compassionate ar the same time, and one incredibly intellegent politician who changed world history in many ways, and a woman who, as all the other women who had reigned in spain before her since the xii century, showed huge resilience and all the good qualities one need to rule one nation(urraca i, the reckless, the first woman who ruled in europe as queen, or berenguela, the wise,or some other strong spanish medieval women in power), and you're a really illiterate person . Precisely all the chroniclers at those times describes her as very clean and lover of baths. . Poor guy, what Sheer ignorance!
It's beautiful. I was not aware of this artist or the set of paintings... Enjoyed.

Amazing video as always. I use this material (to prepare and to show in classes) and it's just wonderful. Nice job on the animations too!

Yes, but who is the person behind the column on the extreme left?? 🤯
I agree, he was interesting as well. He seems to be looking at the heavens
No mention about the intriguing figure standing outside the room?

Did the Virgin Mary just ask Jesus to get more booze to keep the party going?
