I love that depending on which video you click on the jingle that starts off all these videos is described as something different. One I watched called it “uplifting classical music”, and this one calls it “lively jazz music”. Very interesting hearing how different people interpret those couple of notes

"Redemptrix" is one of the cooler titles I've ever heard...
May the Lord forgive me, but Mary and bb Jesus look like this same dude in this one. 🙊
I do love bb Jesus in the Nativity with his little arms crossed, that's cute.
Whatever it's called, I can always appreciate a good cultural intermingling.

Excuse me but, who are those two Saints( the two statues on both sides of the Altarpiece)? Thanks.

The right one is Saint John the Apostle, you can always recognize him by the chalice (a reference to his martyrdom) and his younger appearance compared to the other apostles, often with curly hair (he was described as the young apostle whom Jesus Christ loved).
About the right one I'm not quite sure. He is wearing the vestments of a bishop and a mitre (the pointy hat), so it could be the one of the latin church vathers, Saint Ambrose of Milan. But if the little human who kneeling down the saints feet it could also be Saint Nicholas of Myra.
Unfortunately it is also hard to tell if the statue has any other significant attributes without seeing a close-up...

@@leeroy_unstoppable Wow, thank you so much, the Bishop could perhaps be Saint Valentine since he is sometimes depicted as a Bishop with a little man(Representing an epileptic person I believe.) underneath him. Once again, Thank you, God Bless you.

The code or Arms must have been some one related to the designer that created the checkered pattern of the Louis Vuitton Brand- the cresent moon - looks like that pattern ... that was a joke; all joke aside has there been research to find the code of arms ? and if so how extensive has it been?

  • @caryldarl

The coat of arms is designed to represent a family's values and history. I wonder if the coat of arms could represent a family that was a blend from someone of roman descent and Islamic decent. The crescent moon representing Islam and the two wolves representing Rome. I don't know what the red background would represent at that time in history, but passion comes to mind.

co redemtrix is not a right term in this time of the creation of the picture

You might want to rephrase, as stated it seems as if you are suggesting that no modern terms ought to be used in this discussion, and I think your point is likely be more subtle than that.

After watching all these video it makes me laugh so much. I mean today top movie makers do much better job of representing the historical location and the time of these era (Even though most of the actors speak and act like modern in historical movies their clothes and places are much more accurate).

An important aspect of the study of art history is that a painting tells us far more about the era in which it was painted than the era it represents. This painting is of interest to historians because it tells us about the late 15th century in Spain, not because it tells us about the actual life of Mary or life in the Middle East two millennia ago. I want to add that similarly, the modern costume dramas you reference are products of a particular era (ours), and they are designed to satisfy our current interests. In a century or less, they will look very much a product of our time.

@@smarthistory-art-history Imagine today somebody is painting a 15th century historical person with modern day clothes and in modern day place.
