Idkw up with Mattel’s obsession with putting patterns on everything but the patterns really downgrade the dress and make it look costume-y and tacky, if it the dress was a solid darker teal but kept some of the bandage elements with the gold snake bodice and they gave Cleo a headpiece similar to the new haunt couture Cleo , it’d look 100x better, deuce is fine I just wish the materials weren’t so cheap looking and they gave deuce a more stoic face
Thank-you !!! Someone said it !!! I love Monster High,but I wasn’t here for Cleo’s dress nor did I particularly like Duece’s look either . It was okay for me…..BUT I sometimes wish Monster High would stop making some of the clothes so bright and change the color palette 🎨 to more dark shades !! All of the colors SOMETIMES make the outfits seem cheap and less mature ….
The big problem is the small repeating patterns are expected to carry the entire weight of the outfit, but difference between this one and the holiday drac is that it's not even really a pattern, more like a design that's just been vomited around the dress.
Patterns are usually simple and repeating, this? This is just something that was designed by a toddler (and no offense to toddlers I'm just saying)
I enjoy this 2-pack, but when sat next to the Howliday Draculaura this set feels very much play line. The box design, the bright colors, the printed clothing, the accessories…it doesn’t have that sort of sleek elegance I was hoping we’d be getting as adult collectors. I wish MH would have done something similar to Howliday Draculaura, but with C.A. Cupid for Valentine’s Day…black box, minimal colors and printed patterns, and very fashion-focused. This set is cute, though.
Thinking about it, i can definitely see why they struggled with the design of this set. For the colours, we have Deuce's green, Cleo's original blue and gold, plus the valentine's theme they'd want to include pink or red which completely clashes. On top of Deuce's snake thing, Cleo's mummy thing (thankfully the snakes can kind of work with that), and the hearts for valentine's AND the skullettes (which tbh were unnecessary) there's just a lot to include.
I think if they wanted to do the Howliday thing, making a Cupid doll would have been the better move. And if they really wanted to release Cleo and Deuce for Valentine's, a creepro 2 pack that wasn't Howliday would have worked.
They are pretty dolls but they look so cheap. Is Mattel allergic to darker jewel tones? Everything has to be so garish and bright even though this set is technically not intended for children.
I ended up buying them from Mattel when they released because I was afraid they would sell fast just like when HC Cleo sold out in seconds. I had to buy her for $150 off of eBay!! I love Cleo and Duece so this set was a must have! Even though more work could’ve been put in with their outfits, I’ve grown to love them even more!

@@dalessandroarts I head bad experiences with target for the rare dolls. People still havent gotten the drama reel dolls for the retail price thanks to scalpers.

It’s so weird that there’s people thinking $60 for two new dolls is a lot as if this isn’t the same community where you’ll find people online charging $85 plus shipping for a beat-up doll with no box or accessories and one arm. (I’m not exaggerating, it was a basic Abbey.)

I definitely think just a darker colour scheme w oil have fit so well! Especially with rose gold accenting on cleo that matches upto her hair 😤 I just feel Mattel puts a premium on price for g1 style dolls but the quality just isn't there at all. The clothes are so cheap and tacky, but they know it'll sell because it's g1 crumbs 😭
I honestly quite like Cleo. Her face is gorgeous and I had no idea about the mesh underskirt and one sided tights. It gives her more detail and yeah idk I like her :)
I really love this set, I bought it because I didn't want to lose the opportunity to buy them at retail price. I do think their outfits are slightly tacky and too much with the different patterns and colors but I don't hate them either. I think the g3 outfits are pretty similar though. The style of Cleo's dress is beautiful but the colors and patterns should be different but I absolutely love the snake chest piece!! It's a very cute add :)
Overall I'm very excited for them but I do wish the colors and patterns were different. I hope with the future releases their outfits will be closer to g1 style rather than newer fashion trends/g3 style.
I really hope they make a Claud and Draculura set next!
I really like this two pack I just don’t like how cheap Cleo’s dress looks I love the top part with the snakes forming a heart and the fact that the dress has both her and dueces skullettes on it but other than that the rest looks really cheap
I got this purely because Cleo was one of my favorites when I was first into Monster High (Like 3 or 4?) and I love Cleo and Deuce's relationship and honestly I feel like it was worth the price.
I feel like ever since I got used to the fashion and quality of RH its diffocult to swallow anything else... These MH dolls just seem so cheap to me compared to them☹

The patterns just aren't it for me. The OG dolls had a lot of them, but they seemed more...sophisticated, I guess? Not all were hits but most of the time the designers behind them knew what made a good pattern. It blended in and complemented the outfit - not clash and look like something that probably goes better on a kid's comforter. The patterns scream childish instead of fashionable.
What??????? $60.00 and the amazingly cheap clothes! I really can't believe Mattel thinks this is ok. Did they use the cheap leftover BTS clothing. Mattel has totally lost the plot with Monster High.
Wow, new sculpt. I'd rather pay $60 for both of them than $60 for one doll, but they're just okay for me. Cleo's face is cute though.
I love the fact that the MH dolls are back, but I think the designs and prints on some of the clothes are TOO tacky. And Deuce... what did they do to his face?! It looks like they did a facial alignment, it was very strange, it even reminds Ken. I mean, his face is sort of straight and his eyes are bulging. I found it strange, especially compared to my doll from G1

I still don't think this is a sign they're together more something for 1st gen fans, because gen 3 seems pretty adamant they're separated with the whole Clawdeen and Deuce thing 🤣 But for 1st gen fans they're together regardless official or not. Breakup or not.

I think for me, I love these dolls, they are very pretty and look good together! However I do agree, I think the dress should have been solid blue on Cleo, and Deuce's pants should keep the pattern but several shades darker and his shoes should have been solid
G2 Vibes ALLL DAY! But even so, its very cute. My husband bought them for me as Valentines' gift, so i love them regardless. I do wish they had more detailed clothes, and a less garish color scheme, but its not a deal breaker, and honestly, its growing on me in time. Kinda feel like a late 90s music video color scheme. IDK>>
I only just got Howliday Draculaura from FAO Schwartz. It took almost a month for them to ship it. 🙄 Unfortunately her left eye is a tiny bit wonky but you can't see it unless you look really hard. Amazon already shipped my Cleo and Deuce, they should arrive on Wednesday, I can't wait!

I got this set - and then got it again when it went on clearance on mattel - definitely playline vibes - i like it, but like you - i feel it couldve been MUCH better

It’s not half bad, with cleo, a few cuts here and there could make this doll cuter. Just make a second bandage bracelet with the sleeve and cut the neckline to match the snakes, also make the dress shorter, so cut it straight along at like the knee or something. Also just a personal preference, I don’t like the diagonal bangs, so I’d either cut them like g3 draculaura or have her have micro bangs or just pluck them out.

Unpopular Opinion BUT I have tried my best to like Cleo’s dress in this set,BUT I don’t like it . (And that says A LOT because I adore all things CLEO .) I don’t hate it,but some of her previous looks are better than this !! The skullets printed on the dress do seem a bit tacky….and kind of off brand for Cleo since she is Royalty…… The dress reminds me of a tacky 80’s dress . Duece is okay to me too . His outfit isn’t as bad as Cleo’s but he could be better too . I wish Monster High (Mattel )would change the color pallets for character up a little bit more . Sometimes the color makes the outfits look cheap and less mature …. They should try darker shades/pallets 🎨… Just my humble opinion ☺️😙☺️!!!!
I didn’t unbox mine yet I also like Cleo as a base doll (hate snakes 🐍 😂🤗) ❤️❤️❤️ I wanted a black rose too 🖤 wait what the chocolate box is hard to open 🤦🏻♀️😩 yikes good to know wash Cleo’s hair 😒 I agree I wish this set was more exciting with the actual fashion but I guess cause it’s valentines themed Mattel felt the plastic accessories were necessary like for me I feel like Howliday Draculaura at $42.99 I was def more happy than this 2 pack at $60.99. 🖤🖤🖤

This is the 1st release recently that I'm not a fan of. I love Cleo's side eye but that's about it. I agree, I feel like the outfits are kinda tacky. I wish they had gone with more of a romantic and pretty route instead 💙💚

but ofcourse I’m not sure how much dollars it is in euro’s and the other way round
I'm not a big fan of this set because I just feel like Cleo would not be caught dead in that outfit! Ugh. I am going to buy it though 😅 and add some detailing to the accessories and possibly make her a new dress 😁
I personally think the set as a whole is pretty, I wish the dress was better however them together works well with the colors.
It's nice that the Howliday dolls aren't Mattel Creations exclusive even though they look like G1.5 dolls. 😅

As someone from Europe, I got them on Mattel creations because the shipping was cheaper than the Amazon one.
I still have to pay import fees and taxes when they arrive tho.
One set is roughly 105 USD for us Europeans 🙈 crazy
But my thoughts on the set it’s amazing to be honest because like the GEN one dolls when you try to buy them they’re crazy prices like $1000, $2000 like I want to Dracula, Laura Jen, one doll but I couldn’t find it for any cheap price. The cheapest price I can find was $2000. I was like no way so does a pretty good search if you really want a g 1 doll

Cute set but not for $60
I bought the set since Cleo is my love but I hate the clothes. Mattel’s obsession with putting symbols on everything has always turned me off, especially since that’s all the tend to do with Cleo’s fashion (especially in g2). I just plan to fix some aspects of the clothes and make it to my taste such as putting Cleo in a better dress and changing those ugly pants of Deuce.
These dolls look so cheap and rushed
it didn’t go smoothly for me😭 kept saying something was wrong with payment. worried that it’ll do it again in a future drop

The design of the set is pretty juvenile compared to the core of Monster High G1.
I wish they were easily accessable in Australia. At first seeing them, I did not like how bright their clothing was, but now it is growing on me.

I think the designs are pretty cool by itselfs, but the colors are awfull. I think if Deuce had a dark gray shirt, with a black tie and darker green pants made of a fabric that imitates leather, it would be a lot better. The jacket could still be this bright piece without looking too overwellming. And the shoes, O GOD THE SHOES! They should be black. Period. No printing, just black.
And Cleo's dress could be again black or a very dark blue, maybe with a dark scale pattern with some gold diamonds (Basically Deuce's pants, but darker) and the shoes could be a little bit more, with molded on scales and tiny diamonds and a more gladiator style
The base doll are cute but everything else feels out of the place and cheap asf
