Yeah, sourcing is not my issue- it's hard to find those pink cars though. My biggest issue is the adhd that makes me put off listing.

I’ve been selling for 1.5 years now. Store is 619 items with 2k sold. It feels like my profit isn’t enough (I know it’s never enough). Often I feel I’m just spinning my wheels. I am making money for sure but I feel it should be more. I guess I’m looking for a little bit of advise to improve.

The truth is that YT with a cult following of reselling noobs chasing a dream is a much better way to make money than reselling for most people. Still wondering why your "transparency" video about reselling costs totally omits your COG because without including that, all other numbers that follow are absolutely meaningless and disingenuous.
This guy literally learned everything from Tech and Chris and just refurbished it to monetize it. So if you're new and you see this, go find out who the real best resellers are and watch them. I'm skeptical of absolutely everything this guy says now.

Thank you, @Jride Flips! I keep UA-cam Resellers on in the background while I list, package sales, etc. So I hear alot of talk. However, when you are on, I stop what I am doing; I pay attention and "listen" to what you have to say. If other ReSellers were sharing the same info, I missed it. So thank you for today's lesson on reselling. I always learn from you, and am so grateful!! You have a gift. Thank you for sharing your invaluable wisdom with others.

And this is the message that has not been delivered in 95% of reselling videos for many years maybe even decades they make it seem like it's easy and anyone can do it if they actually told the truth most would not watch there videos they lead viewers on for that one reason video's most yt resllers make more money doing yt no matter what they say then they do reselling if you were killing it reselling you would not have time to make yt videos. There should be a disclaimer in every yt reseller video before the video stating exactly what was stated here it takes hard work and lots of effort to be a full time reseller and make full time money to pay your business expenses and household expenses if you don't want to put the max effort in to get the reward this is not the profession for please don't watch how hard would that be again its all about the money and getting views they really don't care that there selling pipe dreams and people actually belive there BS then get upset at them for purposely misleading them just for the views=$$

I find that having a keen sense of curiosity is very helpful. I have found so many valuable things in thrift stores that other resellers have overlooked. Sometimes I don't even know what the item is but I find out and often times it is valuable and has a good sell -through rate. Another thing I look for are items that are in plain cardboard boxes. The thrift store employees don't want to take the time to figure out what it is and neither does the other resellers. I am relentless in finding out what it is and it is often valuable and cheap and ready to ship! I was told many years ago that the secret to a successful business is NOT doing something that nobody else is doing but doing what others are doing, BETTER!

Your comments are dead on correct! 20% of the people do 80% of the work that is accomplished. In every workplace, you can see this in action, in every business you see this in action. You can see it in action in almost every single fast food, convenience store, insert the business of your choice here, the 80/20 rule is almost without exception present in every single industry/business. I saw it in the military, as well as in almost all government agencies. You have seen it, too, if you are honest in your evaluations. Situational awareness and a sense of urgency are present in 20% or less of all people.

    • @michaeldonnan6767
      @michaeldonnan6767 4 місяці тому

To keep it as simple as possible let's say there is a staff of 5 people. One person is doing 80% of the work and the other 4 are doing approximately 5% of the work each. That means the vast majority of their staff (80%) is only doing 1/16th as much work as most productive employee. No boss would tolerate that. No business could survive that kind of waste in it's payroll. The only people who believe the 80/20 bull are people who have no respect for their coworkers efforts. In their minds they're always part of the 20% and so are some of the people they work directly with. Other departments, other locations, other shifts- you don't see them working so you assume they're just sitting around playing wordle and scratching their butts. It's just silly.

Actually I believe the biggest hurdle to being successful is yourself. Your mindset, attitude and beliefs. Our non-conscious mind sabotages us without us realising it. It’s easy to be successful in ANY field if you look at yourself first and change the way you look at things and how you act and react. You can change but it takes time and effort because your non-conscious mind has been programmed over a long period of time.
Also work smarter not harder: Learn from others knowledge and wisdom. Keep things simple and easy, remain positive and watch the rewards you deserve roll in

Some days I can get 2-3 sales some weeks and they could be either low value items but when it's a higher value item like a graded card or a rare vintage toy my heart starts pumping and the joy 😊

My weirdest sale was a cosmetology mannequin head with real human hair. I bought her for 3 dollars and took her home, combed her hair up nice, staged her showing she could model hats and sunglasses, took lots of photos of her and she sold that night for 25 bucks. She was gorgeous but a little creepy looking too. ;-)

I once found a really nice expensive and rare item in my crappy and overpriced goodwill for $15 and sold that bad boy for $250 in less than a week - you really just never know what you will come across anywhere you source. But it isn't JUST knowing where to source which is a big part of it and I am still working on that and trying to get better. It's also knowing WHAT to source which I am learning more and more and I am learning to always do my research item by item if I come across something that looks promising. Often I think something is neat but it's a crap seller. I still have a long way to go, but I have learned thanks to you Jride! that having a huge inventory is of way lesser importance than having those fast selling items in inventory. I am now working to have as many fast selling items as I can and knowing what items to pick up and leave behind because it CAN be hard to leave items behind when they are so cheap, but if it is going to take too long to sell it then it's just taking up valuable space that could be used for something faster selling. Space = money, time = money, etc.. haha

I don't do it full-time; right now, I treat it as a hobby, and I'm learning how to source new goods along the road. I'm just preparing myself so that if the day comes when I want to pursue it full-time, I will be better prepared and knowledgeable. Best of luck to everyone!

Jared, you’re absolutely correct. I’m 64. I’ve all mom company since 1985, just started reselling after closing my business down just just so you know I was tired of it. Not everybody can be an entrepreneur. Generally, you have to be able to build yourself a door and be able to open it and walk through it. That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. You have to be able to say hell yes, I can do it and do it when everybody else says you can’t. So if this is not, you could work for somebody else. Everybody else get after it.

@@JrideFlips I had lots of fun recruiting and selling Amway back in the day. Was like being part of an exclusive club. Meet lots fun people who wanted more out of life, went to lots of meetings and regional/national gatherings and just soaked it all up. Each week I would purchase another audio tape and listen to it. Selling on ebay brings back some of the fun times I had and watching the various reselling videos feels similar to the audio tapes…..

My Amway empire came crashing down because of weekly get together I hosted for my down-line each Saturday night. If you joined my Amway, or one of my down-lines, you just needed to purchase 1 audio tape and 1 product from the catalog each week. Then you were invited to the ongoing Saturday night party at my home with free booze and food. Things went great for six months until downline got too large and the parties got too rowdy. I ended up leaving town when things got too hot and police were involved. My Amway quickly dried up after that. I was ready to move on by then anyway…..

Thank you for being honest. The ones who say everyone can do this are a bit delusional. 70% of people are going to sit around watching UA-cam rather than work on their own givin the option. I’m part of that 70% so that’s why I run an electronics repair business/clean condos also. There’s few things I hate more than listing but if I only need 40% of my income from it I can list 10 items a day. lol

The only secret sauce is consistency...most people do not hage the drive. Its easy and fun yo source it a grind to list pull and pack.the people who say i list consistently i list 5 a day and i still dont make money thats because 5 a day is not enough. Yes its good to find high profit items and sell less make more but those bread and butters will sell too. If i can sell wild fable and liz Claybourne anyone can but be consistent.

I make a $1000 a month reselling sunscreen.. lol I love overstock stores
if you can make a living on eBay reselling is more personal requirement not what you or anyone else thinks is the required amount needed. Most people live well in excess of their needs. Won't buy cheaper versions of the identical product. And are unable to do basic math in their head quickly. And the #1 thing that keeps people poor is thinking they need what they are told makes you successful
your car analysis makes no sense at all ..lol
I guarantee theres countless items within niche markets that have fantastic returns. But not just that you think you honestly can go through enormous amounts of random products and identify the top items to sell ? But that's ok also you forgot about orange cars

Too many times I grab white and black cars because I love cars and i need to realize I am not building a junk yard, that is not what I am striving for so I need to put down the paint cans ans quit trying to make the white car yellow.

Ebay is definitely not a walk in the park to go full time.
It's a grind with ups and downs.
The downs can be frustrating enough to quit.
The ups can be exciting enough to continue.
It all depends on the consistency of retrieving in demand items regularly to list daily for it to be sustainable.

First, I have to say I love your videos but I'm curious what you have to say about those of us who actually do sell yellow and pink cars almost exclusively but aren't clearly in that 80% or 20%. I don't sell clothes, and my volume is low, but I'm doing pretty well (205 listings as of today with 165 sales over the past 90 days at an average of about 70 bucks a pop). I'm looking for a bit of guidance on things like how to adjust expectations on turn around times for long tail items that are not sourced from thrifts stores or garage sales. Also I'd love more insight on how to price those pink and yellow cars. If it helps at all, my biggest profits come from rare toys and tarot decks that were produced in very low numbers and purchased at the time of release and are sold as "new" (never opened, sealed or opened for photos and inspection).
