Yeah, I just found this video in my home feed, and as soon as he started reading that first response. It was written like an ai response, lol. Just reworded a tiny bit to sound different but not enough to not notice.
Thanks for the video bro, been watching your vids since I transitioned outside the military. Love your story man, I retired out of the military and went straight to working on becoming an Info security analyst. Just finished my degree and have a plethora of certs plus 6 yrs of IT experience, just actually got an Incident Response job offer man, thanks. Stay blessed
Congrats bro. I'm former military in school for cybersecurity and information management now. How did you attain your experience before finishing school?
Im not trying to pay for a degree due to lack of money... but trying to get educated enough to get into cybersecurity, I too feel like im in over my head. I have little to no experience in engineering or anything, only an understanding for brackets, CSS/HTML.

I look for activities where they looked for the answer vs waiting for the answer. An alert is the start of a hunt. What is the context behind it and around it? What does "weird" mean to the individual? Have they shown (outside coursework) that they keep tabs on the threat landscape? Do they follow popular cyber blogs and news sites? Everything else can be taught during onboarding. I'm a film believer in building the individual. Having built and grown a threat team I support growing talent."
Great video! I appreciate that you took the time to look at each person's background to provide context behind their suggestions. I completely agree with you that it's not impossible to land greater than an "entry level" role as your first job in cybersecurity, but you do have to be creative and put in the WORK to prove yourself.
Game changer🔥 Definitely enjoyed this video and really great explanations of the answers. Really liked how you walked through each one and explained what you would recommend at the end. Bookmarked this video and many others for future reference and for sure going to watch it again 😃 Thank you our guy and keep up the amazing work!
Great video. Just to be clear. E-7 is not guaranteed. It’s the possibility of a rank up to E-7. At the very least, it’s just a great marketing strategy to fill critical operational needs. I highly doubt the Marine Corps will be handing out E-7 like candy, especially to random young civilians. Peace
Hey Bud, I think you came up with a very interesting video, asking the ones who know and hire was a smart way to find out what entry-level or junior really means for them. Thanks
Engineers at their core design, build and solve problems through engineering practices. The roles have engineer because they expect you to do what an engineer does, build things & solve problems.
I noticed in tech, people just misuse the title so badly. Especially for Software engineers; building a todo app with HTML and CSS does not make you an engineer.
Could you do a video on let's say 4 fake incidents like back to back of what someone in cyber would work on & explain if these are the type of tickets they would be handling all day?
I guess I am lost Ive trying to get into cybersecurity and just the over all IT world I've been doing IT since 2009 through my prior jobs Ive always been the tech guy for most companies I worked for even though it was not my profession and I have a high motivation and forever a student always wanting to learn and learn and learn some more I'm passionate about it and cybersecurity is amazing field but I can't seem to ever get into the door despite how motivated I am and I am still applying for them as we speak hoping to get at least the door open but no one is giving me the chance to interview. I'm lost and do not know what to do to make it in.
I was hoping to like and subscribe but after just 3 minutes of viewing you've successfully alienated me with the annoyingly choppy editing and crazy playback speed. It's like you've put this together with AI. Not sure what you're trying to achieve here but I'm not sticking around to find out .
That first answer was such an AI response.
Dude literally copy pasted this guy's question into chat gipitty

ah I didn't notice that....

Answer 5 from John was encouraging in my opinion.

The SANS courses are only for the choosen ones - I mean at this cost I rather keep the money or invest in a alternative more affordable cert.

Thank you for this video Day! I’m happy to pull apart each comment made and dissect what skills will be relevant to Detection E.
Glad it was helpful!
Genuine question: Why is “engineer” appended to seemingly every role in cybersecurity?
Engineers at their core design, build and solve problems through engineering practices. The roles have engineer because they expect you to do what an engineer does, build things & solve problems.
I noticed in tech, people just misuse the title so badly.

Surprised they're not asking for 3+ years experience and CISSP
I'd watch this after work... Would be interesting to see how people on LinkedIn respond to this.

10/10 vid SHEEEEEESH - Great stuff Day!
Thanks Steven!
This was a great video idea. I hope to see more like this for different roles. 😊
I appreciate the video, maybe chill out on the coffee and take your time.
Definitely get some Ipv4 and ipv6 networking under your belt.
Im clearly old when im turning down the playback speed
lol me too.
Any positions out there that are Cybersecurity and the Gaming Industry combined in one?
Great video and content. Thank you.
Another great podcast.
Great video and Great Idea
I would say administer some linux, windows and MACs.
Answer 2 & 3 is def not "entry level," tbf. I can see why you titled the vid as you did.

What IT roles have you had since starting your career?
رجل محترم و شخصيته قوية
Great video thanks!
Can you ask the same about red team or pen tester please
Are you actually talking that fast or did u speed it up?
Slow down
No.
you literally speak at 2x speed 😫 so hard to hear you 😔
