    Clearances are important. If you don’t model them into your families, other disciplines will take the space. Detail lines will do just fine on floor plans, but they don’t transfer to other discipline’s models and views. Without it modeled in, they will not know your equipment needs clearance! This is a great feature to help coordination go smoother.

    I typically edit/create families using plan or elevation views. I have used inventor before so maybe I will try doing it more in 3D. That may be easier to teach others since you can see and pick where to draw from.

      the main reason I started using 3D was because some families I needed clearances on all 4 sides and above as well, so it was much easier to work in 3D view to understand where I’m putting everything.
