I've always had trouble getting wand to release the paper with the pressure button on bottom. Have shoulder surgery coming up for my prominent arm. Looking for wand with easier release.

Hi, Maria. I broke my upper right dominant arm in 3 places, and am currently recovering. I understand this will take a long time. Anyway, I bought the ultimate Freedom Wand. How do I utilize it, as I am plus size? Thanks in advance.
I'm so sorry to hear that you broke your dominant arm! That's the worst! I broke my right dominant arm as a child and it was very challenging to wipe.

I'm glad you got the ultimate kit! The length on the wand goes to 25 1/2 inches, so that will help you fully reach your bottom. Plus I think it came with the universal cuff to keep your hand on the handle. After you fully assemble the wand and place toilet paper in it, use your left hand to gently wipe front to back. Reload toilet paper as many times as you need to get fully cleaned.
In your case, it may be helpful to pre-make toilet paper poms to go inside the wand before you use the bathroom. It can feel a little stressful to make poms on the toilet with one hand!

@@toilettalkme thanks for responding so quickly. My issue is access. There's limited space front or back to be able to utilize the wand. Toileting myself is the last issue I am dealing with. I also don't see how loading the paper will prevent feces from getting on the wand.
@@barbkimber Some people scoot their bottoms towards the front of the toilet to open up more space at the back of the toilet bowl. Then they wipe their bottoms from behind. Is that an option for you? Let me know if you'd like other positioning suggestions.
I agree that it's inevitable for feces to get on the wand. If wiping from the back, the curved wand head should be the part of the wand that's mostly in contact with your bottom. Washing the wand with mild soap and lukewarm water should take care of any feces left on the wand head.
@@toilettalkme I don't know if scooting toward the front is an option. I've never tried it. I've always wiped from the front. You can recommend other positions? Hey, I'll entertain anything, as long as I am able to do it. Yes, I realize this will all seem odd to me. My hope is that I will regain most of my previous range of motion. Also, realizing that you're an OT (and way better than the one I'm currently seeing), how do you dry yourself off after taking a shower? Thanks, thanks, thanks.

I'm sorry your experience with your current OT isn't what you hoped for. I hope it gets better from here on out. As a suggestion, you can take the ideas we're talking about to your OT and ask their opinion if these ideas would work best for you. Your OT has the advantage of seeing how you move and can provide better feedback than I can.
To dry off after a shower, you could wrap a towel around the freedom wand and gently pat your bottom dry. Also, here's a video where I showed a couple of ways to dry off after using a bidet: ua-cam.com/video/xlPqyquDBUk/v-deo.html
