This is so funny, but its also a good way to get their children used to public speaking in a fun way. Its too bad these types of moments don't get as much press as the U.K.
It's interesting that the Norwegians, Swedish, and Danish are speaking their own respective languages but Beatrix of the Netherlands is speaking in English.
Three for the price of one. The Scandinavians can understand each other, but Beatrix of the Netherlands is the "odd man out". Would someone like Crown Princess Mary of Denmark who learned Danish in her adult years be able to understand Swedish?
Perhaps a bit less than a native speaker but her Danish is said to be excellent, so I would imagine she'd understand almost as much as a native speaker would.
Maud Angelica did a great speech at her fathers funeral at age 17. Her father struggled with mental health and commited sucide at Christmas day. That girl stand in front of the coffin of her father and told other that struggle with mental health to seek help. And the church was full of friends and important people and the funeral was aired on the television. That girl has guts.
Really though, these are the types of Royals I would endorse. Granted I'm American and we've never been any type of Kingdom, but I have deep roots in Denmark and Sweden. Jeg kan virkelig godt lide de skandinaviske lande

Beatrix deserved the compliment both she,Fredrick, and Victoria are beatiful pepol with class, and oh was it king Karl Gustav who sat next to Queen Sonja and bursted out laughing😂
Honestly, these princes and princesses sure seem to just have fun with the other royal families. In fact, I imagine them not minding hanging out with kids their age to play video games, watch some anime or have a pizza
😍 thats how all children should be educated and all family dinners should run...diplomatic smart free flowing space for kids to interact with all generations! no smart mouth questions trying to embasse others
I'd like to see the British royals do this... but then again the British royals are to busy acting better than the other royal families sooo... most likely never.
@@bebos1262 Of course, British Royalty was invited and they attended! Why would they not be invited to the King - a second or third cousin of Elizabeth II - and Queen's 80th birthday?!
Unfortunately that’s the full video on the kids’ part. Although Haakon, Mette-Marit and Märtha-Louise did dress up as the King, Queen and Princess Astrid and were interviewed by Ingrid
I couldn’t stop laughing too much. The kids are so cute, especially with the prince Friederickof Denmark and Princess Victoria of Sweden and Queen Beatrix
Do you have subtitles for that part when Ingrid interviewed her parents and her her aunt while they were dressed as Princess Astrid and the King & Queen?
No, the children spoke norwegian, Victoria spoke swedish and Frederik danish. The scandinavian languages are close enough to that we can (mostly) understand each other.
Like sjjack06100 said, the languages are *really* similar, especially in writing. I'm Danish and if I read an article on a Norwegian site, it's basically just like reading Danish with typos. There's more of a difference with Swedish but I'm still easily able to understand Swedish articles and stuff. There may be a word here and there that's just completely different but you'll usually be able to guess the meaning based on context etc. The main differences between our languages are pronunciations. Norwegian and Swedish are more similar there but still different. They both have that melodic sound to them. Very up and down in tone etc. Almost singy-songy to my ears. Danish is much more influenced by our southern neighbors and is a very "flat" language. Swedish and Norwegians think we mumble. However, if Danish, Swedes and Norwegians are around each other regularly, they quickly get used to the tones, the pronunciations etc. and will be able to understand each other fairly well. It's all about practice, which I guess the royal families get. The Scandinavian royals aren't exactly strangers to each other. You can also see the practice thing in the general population. Danes in Copenhagen are generally better at understanding Swedish than Danes in Jutland are for example, as Copenhagen is so close to Sweden that they're bound to hear Swedish regularly over there. Not so much in Jutland. Swedes are pretty much exotic in Jutland.. Unless you're in a big university or something perhaps. All the silly stereotypes and teasing between Sweden and Denmark also tends to be very Copenhagen focused as that's where most Danes see Swedes. So all of those "Drunk Swedes" stereotypes are from Copenhagen, as it's quite a popular place for Swedes to go out since it's so close to them and cheaper than Sweden when it comes to alcohol. A Norwegian or a Swede moving to Denmark really wouldn't need to learn a new *language*, but just different pronunciations. Most of the words are basically the same.
I knew Danish and Norwegian can pretty understand each other( way of speaking changes tho). But, Svenska? I didn’t know they could understand Norsk/Dansk. Then again, royalties are intelligent! 😂
You don´t have to be a Royal Scandinavian to understand all 3 languages, all Scandinavians do. They are all basically the same language, with some differences.
To be honest, I can’t understand a single word they are saying 😂 however, this video is actually funny loll Prince Magnus was like “Why can’t Swedes go faster on their skis?” like bro- 😂 Edit: aaaa why is prince magnus sooo funny another Edit: YOOO THEY CAN SPEAK ENGLISH?
Awwww. Very loose royal families . They are so close with each other . They are related to each other anyways. Royal families of Denmark, Norway, Sweden ,and Belgium
I am wondering what languages did the kids ask the HRH Princess Victoria and HRH Prince Fredirik. Did they speak Swedish to ask Princess Victoria and Danish to Princess Frederik?
Yes they were all speaking in their native languages. Norwegian, Swedish and Danish are mutually intelligible. Learn one, and you should be able to understand the other two.
Edgar Herrera Their language are very similar. Just like mainland Spanish and Mexican Spanish. There’s even a person who said she learn Danish in order to understand Swedish. Cuz they’re all the same.
No. The children spoke Norwegian, Crown Princess Victoria spoke Swedish and Crown Prince Frederik spoke Danish. The 3 Scandinavian languages are similar so we kind of understand each other.

Did King Harold himself post this? Hello from Canada your Royal Highness! :)

Yeah the UK royals aren't like these royals. 😟😩
I think the Scandinavian Royals are a lot more relaxed.

OMG, so sweet and lovely. Northern countries are very classy. This proves it. You can be approachable and still royal at the same time ;)

That’s because Scandinavian languages are really really similar and you can understand all 3 of them if you only speak one

Ofelia Rios the brits are way too stuffy (and they prefer to stick to tradition). Glad the Scandinavians know how to have a good laugh

Maybe because she is no Queen anymore. Its her title now royal highness prinzess Beatrix of nederland
