This movie is simply amazing in every way, giving a tongue in cheek poke at fandom and at the same time be a homage to that same fandom. The actors all do an amazing job, perfectly balancing slightly over the top performances with glorious professionalism, not to mention that each of these characters have more substance, story arc and soul than what all the characters in modern Star Trek and Star Wars have put together. And then there's Alan Rickman.... It still breaks my heart that he's not with us anymore, such a great actor. His passing was a true loss, he truely was one of a kind.

I was so happy that they decided to not move forward with a sequel without Rickman. The movie would not work without him.
I didn't know they were even considering a sequel. Galaxy Quest doesn't need one. It's perfectly fine by itself.
Sems Hollywood doesnt let $$ stop them from cashing in on sequels. Hoping they just leave this one alone. It's my 'Happy Movie'.
@@mikegike7273 Just look at Jumanji, they went a couple of crappy sequels on that already without the great Robin Williams just for some money.
@@nathanflannery3031 The new Jumanjis are great.
@@radix4400 yes but nothing like the ones with Robin Williams .
"Is The Orville ripping off Star Trek or Galaxy Quest?"
Knowing Seth MacFarlane?
Both.
pretty sure he also ripped off the simpsons for the orville.
Still a great show. So I hope he keeps ripping off whatever it is he’s ripping off.
ZakuNick agreed, I never watched it in it’s entirety, but from what I did watch of it, it was enjoyable
You know Seth MacFarlane?! Jealous.
He claims he never saw it before creating Galaxy, but that seems unlikely.
“For all we know that’s Destiny’s Child”😂😂
Such a genius job making comedy with all the different personality types in this film. Rickmans serious theatrics, Rockwells arrogance and paranoia, Shaloubs chill, and the rest...not to mention the Thermians and fans. What an amazing feat to put this all together.
3:42 I hoped you guys would do this, but I never expected you’d actually do it. This man was a legend 🙌🏼❤️
Is this the first Honest Trailer that’s actually a trailer?
"Is this movie genius or did I just smoke whatever Tony Shalhoub is on?" Hah! Love this movie, love this commentary. :3
That cracked me up. Haha
This movie was groundbreaking:
The nerd doesn't even wear glasses!
Must have been illegal at the time, too. ;-)
"Where are you going?"
"To see if there's a PUB!"
Little known fact: the Galaxy Quest DVD has a second audio track in Thermian.
rmhartman I wish this wasn’t true. I tried it.
"Is this true? No way!"
"Aww man ☹️ it IS true 😔"
Just rewatched this yesterday. lol this movie still gives me goosebumps. Especially when they find out the ship is real. Never give up never surrender!!!
"Just a hardcore thank you to Alan Rickman" Did...did I just get feelings from an Honest Trailer?!
I adore this movie and always rewatch it. Guy's insecurity like the sitcom, Fred's calm attitude and romance with Laliari, Laredo getting told to learn flying when the ships in danger, dinner, the kids getting blown off, and the great, late Alan Rickman who I have loved since seeing him in Prince of Thieves.
For serious.
One of the best and most underrated movies in an already legendary year full of great movies.
'Tis the season to respect Alan Rickman's dive off of the Yakatomi building.
i will be watching Hans take the plunge in 5 days (its my Christmas Tradition)
You know you lived your life right when the Honest Trailers guy is giving you props👌
My dad showed this to me when I was little, before I even ever watched an episode of Star Trek, and it was one of the best things I ever watched. (I guess it makes sense that I watch Honest Trailers for movies ive never seen)
Not often you see a movie full of talent. Well executed, with actors and directors who seem to have loved making it.
"And when your movie needs a bumbling washed-up TV actor with a massive ego, you call Tim Allen." 1:25 😂😂
Also, The Marvelous Mr. Monk was PERFECT!
It never dawned on me that Monk was in this movie, although I love both.
@@jimscribner8314 wow. This movie is why I watched Monk!
I didn't get the The Marvelous Mr. Monk until I saw your comment! 🤦🏽♀️ I love him in TMMM
Please say "By Grabthar's hammer... what a trailer."
Please say: "By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Worvan, you shall be avenged."
pretty sur hes dun it ova da yrs. ...
He won’t do it. He won’t say that stupid line ONE MORE TIME!
@@Blucham The show must go on.
Love the repartee!
I literally teared when Alan Rickman said "By Grabthar's Hammer, by the Sons Of Warvan , you shall be avenged"
By Grabthar's hammer... wh- wh- wwh-- whaaat a savings
By Grabthar's Hammer... you couldn't wait for your shirt to come off?
a line that any true nerd knows by heart and can quote at any given moment of crisis or emotional distress...and truly mean it
When he stepped into his role while Quillik was dying. Brilliant actor all around. Missing him, bigtime.
"Let's get out of here before one of those things kills Guy!"
Best movie ever
I count myself blessed for having grown up with this movie. We had it on VHS and when our video player packed it in, it was playing this movie. I can't think of a better way to go
They couldn’t even make fun of it... that’s how you know it’s quality
“...and Comic Con”
Even being a fangirl myself, I find this hilarious
'Geekarella' is a great novel that pays tribute to geek/nerd culture, cons, and Star Trek.
Dude, I caught this in the middle of the day on like Comedy Central or something and fell in love. Don't ever remember seeing trailers for this in theaters, would have loved to see it on the big screen.
After watching this trailer, I ordered “Never Surrender” and then just rewatched Galaxy Quest. My eyes are leaking!
"Wait, is The Orville ripping off Star Trek or Galaxy Quest?"
Don't feel bad The Orville doesn't know.
Top 10 questions science can't answer
Simple answer: YES!!!
Why not both?
_All_ of Star Trek, which _includes_ Galaxy Quest.
The creator says Orville is an homage to Star Trek but with a comedic twist.
such a fabulous movie - and it is true, everyone who sees it, loves it!
Mmm, not everyone. Although I'm probably gonna revisit it.
I remember when my boyfriend told me: "Wait, you haven't seen this movie? You're gonna love it". He was right :D
@@alandgomez5905 it is silly fun, but you have to like silly
@@IvyHilts :)
Yeah, just about everyone.
The only honest trailer that made me tear up. Alan Rickman, gone but not forgotten.
Say: "You broke the ship, YOU BROKE THE BLOODY SHIP!" in his accent, please
Yes! Say it!!
It's really hard to laugh and cry at the same time, but I managed it.
Me, lying: I almost cried at when he gave a hardcore thank you to Alan Rickman
Me, being honest: I shed a tear when he gave a hardcore thank you to Alan Rickman
Same, also how are you in every comment section I ever go in.
Same you are not alone
I also shed a tear whenever Alan rickman got mentioned
If anyone deserves a tear for a heartfelt thank you, it's Rickman
I saw this movie in a random cable channel without any expectation, and I just love it!
This was one of the best rent choices that you could have made in a blockbuster store on that time.
"Let's get out of here before one of those things kills Guy."
Alot of the jokes in this movie is very subtle.. thats one of my favourite lines. Really brilliant movie
I honestly get a little misty every time I hear “by Grabthar’s hammer....”
"... What a savings."
David Mamet said that Galaxy Quest is one of the best films ever made.
Amazing. That guy's no slouch.
Did he really?
@@edwarddore7617 From the Galaxy Quest Wiki page: “Acclaimed writer-director David Mamet, in his book Bambi vs. Godzilla: On the Nature, Purpose, and Practice of the Movie Business, included Galaxy Quest in a list of four "perfect" films, along with The Godfather, A Place in the Sun and Dodsworth.”
Honest trailers needs to do a honest trailer for “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.”
YES!

or Babylon 5. I've always preferred the original over the copy...
Yeees!!
@@sirien.neiris Lol naw. B5 sucked.
It's an impossible film to review properly because it is just perfect. A genuinely flawless movie that lives with you long after you last saw it. It is warm, generous, funny and absolutely on-point from start to finish.
Galaxy Quest was never underrated. Badly marketed, yes. It is a classic for eternity
This movie was so funny. Perfect Star Trek parody.
I remember seeing it with my dad (huge Star Trek fan) in theaters when I was 13 and he was just roaring with laughter.
This is my favorite Alan Rickman movie. He’s brilliant.
“See it’s JJ’s favourite!”
That was Damon Lindelof talking lol
the question then becomes: should i be making a snide remark about how this comment is illustrative of the exact obsession with details in digital fandoms this honest trailer points out that this film is commenting on or have i already done so...
How funny that now Lindelof just did Watchmen and Jar Jar did Star Wars Rise of Soywoker.
Anarchitron I don’t get it?
This quote didn't get enough attention... I think everyone's favorite movie is one JJ had nothing to do with.
After watching this trailer, I ordered “Never Surrender” and then just rewatched Galaxy Quest.
I teared up at the end!
Thank you for reminding me of this gem!
This is easily in my top-5 favorite movies of all time! I think this is your best Honest Trailer yet!
