I have had the Pixel 6 since it launched and I have had only a pleasant experience. The only gripe I had was with the fingerprint sensor. Once they pushed a few of those updates, I hardly ever even think about it. It just works now. I really have enjoyed this phone. Really looking forward to see what they do with the Pixel 7.
EDIT: it's really unfortunate that the phones that do experience issues fell into the hands of some of the biggest names on UA-cam. They can shape the view of any product. Then again, they can only go off of their experience. However, the power they wield is uncanny. I just wished that they would be a bit more careful. They could literally be among the lowest percentile rate of issues with the phone. But because they have millions of subscribers, it makes it seem like almost every phone has those same issues. Which is unfair.

I said this same thing under Marquees video. My other issue also is my phone locking when I respond to WhatsApp in the notifications area and I get a message from the same person. Annoying.

I've had 2 pixels and a nexus. By far 6pro is the worst phone I've ever owned. Won't stay connected to my cars bt. Sudden Strange hi pitch squeal while on calls. Suddenly loses signal and won't reconnect without a restart.

Do you like the placement of where the fingerprint sensor is? I've always wanted Google to use the under display technology and put the sensor on the back, to keep the Pixel/Nexus theme (it also makes more sense).

  • @Awkwardzana

I personally think the issues with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are definitely exaggerated, My entire family have been pixel users since the Pixel 3 and that's nine of us using the Pixel 6 series and no one has complained yet aside from the fingerprint reader which is a little bit slow, but it's still faster than having to type your password or pin.

    • @skullcrusher_1

I honestly don't find the fingerprint sensor all that slow. I guess because smart lock at home is always activated and I don't really use my phone too much outside of the home unless I'm making a payment or changing my playlist. I guess I'm in the minority on the curved screen because it doesn't bother me. I guess because Google does it means it's bad 😂

Non-pro 6 here. By far the best Pixel I've owned- checks almost every box of what I want in a smartphone and my only major issue has been with the inefficient modem. My cell reception has been solid on T-Mobile down here in SoCal but that standby battery drain is absolutely insane.
I will absolutely recommend the Pixel 6, Pro or not, to people looking for a new Android phone. The internet makes issues with these devices seem much more widespread than they are- every customer I've had at work with one and every friend I have with one has nothing but good things to say about it.

I used to work at Alienware, which as you might know, is a well known brand of super powerful PCs. After a few months working there, I was under the impression that Alienware PCs were trash. Day by day, I heard nothing but known issues, problems, crashes, faulty hardware, etc. One day, we were in a meeting and the staff was celebrating that Alienware PCs had a failure rate of less than 5%, and the conference guy said "As tech support, you hear only bad things about our brand, and that might make you lose faith in its quality, but remember: only the people with problems are vocal. Nobody picks up the phone to say "hey thanks, my computer is amazing!" and barely anyone goes into Reddit to create a thread about how amazing the experience with Alienware hardware is. But bare in mind, out of every five calls you get, there are 95 persons happy with their purchase"
I truly believe the Pixel brand mirrors these. There are TONS of unhappy people all over the internet being vocal about their issues and being angry at Google and the brand, and they do get out of their way to bash them and make sure nobody buys from them... but if you consider the amount of phones sold, they are a small minority. My Pixel 6 has been flawless, the only thing I truly hate about it is how painfully slow it charges, but fortunately the battery life has been great, so it has been a problem like twice in months.
That being said, I live in Costa Rica, so we don't have 5G or the network mess that you guys have in the US. The antennas have worked wonders for my and WiFi en Bluetooth have been flawless too.

Only thing I don't like, is I REALLY liked the face unlock on my Pixel 4XL. Was so instant to start using I loved it. Now, being months into owning the 6, I am more use to the Finger Print, but I still miss the ease of the face unlock.

Great review, I have had mine since launch and I love this phone. I absolutely love the pixel 4 XL and the prior pixel 2 XL which was a game changer. The pixel 4 XL received more negativity than it deserved and I would absolutely get the battery replaced to have it as a backup. Either I'm the luckiest Pixel 6 Pro owner or some people are just hating on the Pixel. I have never had an issue with my Pixel 6 Pro and I pre-ordered my phone. Where I work they provide us with a company phone and this year was the S22 Ultra and while the Ultra does feel a bit more premium in the hands the Pixel 6 Pro gives you a better overall experience. The stock 12 android is just something you miss once you switch to another phone and of course, just the overall Pixel experience is amazing from its Call Screening to its amazing camera not to mention how stupendous the Google assistant is and let's not forget that the Pixel lineup just gets better and better with more software updates something that not a lot of phones can say they do.

I’m surprised not many people are discussing the dramatic difference in quality of the front facing camera between the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. I tried both out at Best Buy and it was shocking how bad the 6 was compared to the Pro at 1080p. I haven’t purchased yet, but considering the Pro for this reason. I would love to hear from people who have used both and either agree or disagree with this.

Coming from someone who has used both Pixels, there is definitely an improvement with the 6 Pro, over the base model 6, far as front facing camera goes. I still think both require good lighting conditions, to produce a clear, really good photo. The 6 Pro, not so much.

My Pixel 6 Pro isn't without flaws, mostly the fingerprint sensor is a hit or miss. But at the end of the day - software is by FAR superior to Samsung and OnePlus. I tried latest Samsung and OnePlus over the past few months and ended up getting rid of them. Once you get used to Pixel OS - you'll never go back. Maybe I'm biased because I owned every Nexus and Pixel since 2009 but I've also owned all of the OnePlus phones and I've given Samsung fair share of chances, from the S2 and TouchWizz times to the latest OneUI 4.0 and I still want Pixel experience. Yes, I'm aware Pixel isn't Vanilla anymore like the Nexus but it's still the best Android experience out there. It's just so smart.

Had mine since launch and at first it did feel unoptimized compared to my pixel 4XL but currently it's as I thought it should have came at launch. Fast and smooth with minimal issues. Fingerprint scanner works great now though I never had the issues others did. Today for my unit, it's very reliable now and unlock speed is quick enough that I don't think about it.
Day to day performance is great eating through everything I do. Battery life is now 5 -6+hrs screen on time for me so no issue there. I love the look and feel of hardware. Screen is great , just the right width for a large phone. My only gripe at this point is that it had better reception and a Qualcomm modem

  • @elshelbarino

I've been using the P6P since a week after launch. Right off the bat, I noticed that the in-screen fingerprint scanner was a bit slower than what I had seen in other devices. It was MUCH slower than the fingerprint scanners on the back of previous Pixel devices. With that said, it never felt unusable to me. Yes, it was slower, but it never failed for me. Maybe I'm more patient, and don't mind that it takes half a second to scan instead of quarter of a second.
Other than that, I have had no negative experiences with my P6P. It is certainly not a good look that SO many people do seem to be having legitimate issues with the device, and it does make me wonder sometimes whether I've been lucky to get an issue free device, or is it just a matter of time before issues start to pop up for me. It has shaken my faith in the Pixel devices a bit. Not to the point that I'll be jumping to another manufacturer in the future, but enough that I probably won't be preordering the next device.
Google needs to acknowledge the common issues, and address them ASAP.

But my contract is up for renewal and having made the switch from a Fossil Carlyle to a Galaxy Watch 4, I feel the battery life and wish for a phone that can carry a heavy user for most of the day at least.

P6P user. The phone is not terrible buuuuuuut, this is one of the most frustrating pieces of tech I've ever purchased and still feels like a prototype 6 months later.
If you want to hear some stranger cry about some things related to his phone continue reading.
How on earth is the fingerprint scanner this "inconsistent" (terrible)? Even after adding 5 versions of my thumbprint it only unlocks 70% of the time and only with clean hands. How does this phone get uncomfortably hot while simply watching a UA-cam video on wifi with no other running apps? Why does it randomly pull up the weather app when unlocking about 15 times a week? It is the worst thing to be greeted by after I spend 30 seconds trying to unlock your phone. The phone crashes relatively often. Particularly when using PIP mode or running more than one media app at a time (spotify/audible/youtube). The speech to text is nice but there have been many instances where it just gets whole sentences wrong. They google keyboard is difficult to use, I'm unsure if this is user related, but I've owned two Pixel phones before and I get way more typos using this Gboard then I have on my other pixels which is kind of crazy considering it is a larger screen so there's more real estate for my thumbs. Playing slay The spire (a not graphically demanding card game) with brightness set to 10% and no other running apps drains my battery 40% in just over 1 hour.
On a positive note, we got dinner with my fiance's parents a few weeks ago and went to a very authentic Mexican restaurant where the menu was in Spanish. Was pretty cool taking a picture and having it translate the menu. Little moments like that these phones really shine but it's the daily driver stuff that drives me absolutely mad. I would say "that's why you wait for reviews before spending a lot of money on something!" but all the reviews for these phones were fantastic and then everyone backpedaled a week-month later..

I would like them to offer a resolution toggle. I had that on my old LG G8, and used it often. I didn't notice any difference in the viewing experience between highest resolution and 1080, and often left it on 1080 to preserve battery. In general I think they just tried to do too much at one time with the 6 series. Android 12 was a ponderous revision with questionable advantages in its own right. Add to that a hardware redesign and an entirely new processor introduction, and growing pains were inevitable. Things seem to have stabilized six months in, and that's not a crazy timeframe considering what they had bitten off all at once.

The second pixel 5 got a white line through the screen after it fell off the table (my bad). It was probably 2 ft drop off the coffee table... So I didn't expect the screen to fail from that. Decided to move away from the 5 series and into the 6 series... Hoping for better luck...
P.s sorry for typos, can't see half the screen.

How much time does the 6 Pro take to charge? I dropped my Pixel 6 and Stand Gen 2 due to that, taking 2 hours to charge is pretty dissapointing, so how is it now? 1 Hour? My OP9 Pro takes 30 mins via cable and 45 with the 50W wireless charger but i'm considering to go back to pixel or maybe get a Find X5 Pro.

You probably wont see this comment, since this video is kind of old, but despite the comon sense nature of rhe assumption that FHD saves battery compared to QHD, testing doesn't seem to support that assumption. There have heen numerous tests of this over the years, the most recent one im aware of was by Lover of Tech a few days ago where the difference between FHD & QHD settings was only a matter of minites in total run time in one of the tests, seconds in others, and even one test where the QHD setting got better battery life

As I pixel 6 pro owner, I do like the phone. I'll give it a 7.5/10 and here's why: first off, the build is amazing, you've got a big phone which manages to feel like a normal sized phone somehow (probably because of the curved edges and corners). Then there's the display which is nothing less than brilliant in every way. The camera is also amazing and although photos seem a little polished if you use the auto-edit, it's a good camera and in my opinion, does match up against iPhone. Okay, the downsides are the battery and the less than optimal updates. 3 months after having this phone I've noticed a downturn in the battery life. A full charge used to get me through a day and now I need to charge by about 10pm with only about 2 hours screen time with 8 hours listening to music. Also you'll notice accessories are very hard to find. This was not fun because it had me driving all over the city to find a screen protector and case. I ended up going with one of those awful soft protectors because I couldn't find a glass one that fit. Anyway ima wrap this up but the phone is awesome just beware there's some hoops you're gonna need to jump through.

Not being able to set a timer using assistant if one is already active but paused, notifications on lock screen disappearing instantly when opened, notifications from lock screen leading to nowhere, volume keys turning down media volume instead of ringer on the lock screen...
not to mention that it's so hard to stop a screen recording with that small button... why not just make the button be the whole banner? duh... the OLED is amazing but this phone really needs android 13 to compete.

It worked fairy well for about 2 weeks, although I had my problems adjusting to Android 12🥴. Then while walking through Disneyland I noticed it getting HOT, very HOT. Then the screen went BLACK. I could not get it to open. The unit had some response (Viberation) when I pressed the on button but still NO SCREEN. So off to T-Mobile I went. Yes it was fully covered and although I had a bit of confusion communicating with T-Mobile (I was freaking out) I did get a replacement in three days (really freaking out by then). With the assistance of their tech staff and because there was a bit of life in the phone (still no screen) I had all my essential data in the "Cloud". It's now a month and working well. I purchased one about a month ago. It's been a really good experience. I had the Pixel 6 originally, cuz the pro version was hard to get at first, so I settled on the standard 6 for about 5 months. I really wanted that faster refresh rate, and the better screen and camera experience. There were a few times when Bluetooth was acting a bit weird , on the Pro version, but that stopped after I updated the software. The battery life is pretty good. I unplug it at 6:45 am, before I head out to work, and by the time I'm home around 7pm, I still have about 40 percent left. Sometimes more! 😎. It doesn't charge up as fast as a Samsung phone, or other companies, but it's nothing I complain about. Most charge overnight. Overall, I really enjoy the experience. It sucks so many people are still having issues with their Pixel 6 series, but I firmly believe they are a "loud minority" , and don't speak for the experience most of us are having.

I think an issue Google has had over the past several years of Pixel is a change in what could be considered business as usual. Google tends to be a company that likes to beta test and then change and improve as more data becomes available. This is not how you operate in the hardware space. What you ship needs to be a finished and reliable product. Yes, you can fix software once it has shipped, and sadly this has become an accepted practice, but things really should be good to go, out of the box. Google has had to release a couple of software fixes to hardware related issues with the Pixel line over the years.
I hope they can figure it out. I think we are all better off having them in the market. I wish they will find success and that they will expand into new countries.

The 8T is phenomenal as well, with a flat-screen, 256 GB, and a solid OS free from bloat as well. My favorite phone ever used. Even though it lacks a DAC, I use it for FLAC storage to play music and enjoy the 120hz screen which is extraordinary for Vid beating many high-end gaming phones by a wide margin, phones costing 40 to 50% more. I have the pixel 6 pro, been using it now for the last 6 months. Overall it's a mixed bag. To begin with, connectivity via LTE and 5g is spotty. Just a few days ago I was getting LTE at rates of 0.3 Mbps. Insanely slow. I have a work iphone, both running on Verizon network and my work phone was getting 5 to 8 Mbps at the same time of testing. Coming from a one plus 7 pro I never had connectivity issues like I have with the pixel. Many places I go there there is limited to no connectivity. Such basic stuff cannot be overlooked. Other big issue is more to do with pixel and Google software. Many shortcomings when it comes to Google software and it seems like in an effort to dumb down the phone they keep removing key pieces of functionality or bury options in deep sub menus making the overall software experience quite poor. Often times it is lacking sime features other android phones have had for years like dual app functionality (having multiple insta accounts, etc). Camera is great, but agree need to unlock 50 megapixel sensor and a pro mode. I was able to shoot good pictures of the galaxy at night with my one plus 7 pro, unable to do that with the pixel. Fingerprint reader, although slower than competition isn't too bad. Keyboard can always be improved. Overall, I am once again disappointed with the Google experience outside of the camera, which has been it's main selling point (I bought the original pixel phone and sold it after 7 months because I hated the user experience so much apart from the camera). Google should and could do better. Unfortunately they are constantly trying to copy apple and in the process make their phones much worse than comparable android phones on the market. Will prob go for a galaxy next time I buy a phone (I had the galaxy S5, s8 in years earlier)

I think this is both the best and the second best Pixel ever made, but the bugs, the size (even considering the non-pro variant, which I own), the not amazing but good enough SOC are a bit of a letdown.
I am quite satisfied with my non pro model, but to me Google can do better.
To me, the 2 XL is still the best phone Google ever made. Besides the display issues (that didn't affect me), it was better looking, it had a good battery life, top of the line SOC (for the time), best camera of the time and great speakers. I truly miss it :(
