My favorite Disney movie is beauty and the beast and my favorite part of the movie is Belle loves the beast and he's no monster Gaston you are ❤❤❤❤❤ and I'm going to church event at our church this Friday at our church and I'm going to wear Belle sweatshirt and beauty and the beast rose dome necklace and my church shoes ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Interesting to note that this non-Disney version of Beauty & The Beast is narrated James Earl Jones, who'd go onto voice Mufasa in Lion King. Hmm. I wonder if he remembers this job. Probably not. Given how many more significant roles he'd had over the years.
And another thing, it has Mufasa's voice off from The Lion King, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride and The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, Kibosh's voice off from Casper: A Spirited Beginning, Daddy King's voice off from Our Friend, Martin, Papa Jenkins's voice off from Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins and the man who's a stutterer's voice off from The Angriest Man in Brooklyn.
This actually wasn't the first time Claire Bloom played Beauty-she played Beauty on the pilot episode of Shirley Temple's Storybook in 1958. Charlton Heston played opposite her as The Beast. I've been trying to find that version but I haven't been successful at finding it-I hope I can find it one day! I guess this is the next best thing!
Beauty said she could never be Beast's wife even though she already knew his kindness and gentle side, then she suddenly loves him (maybe from guilt) when she realizes he's dying and sees how handsome he becomes and has no hesitation in accepting his proposal. Let's face it, even she thinks appearances are important. Good cartoon with good voice actors :-)
+Marie George I think the reason she - and other Beauties in other adaptions of the tale - say they cannot marry the Beast despite his kindness because he physically isn't human! He's a monster, and obviously no one would want to marry something physically inhuman despite how kind it was!
WolfieMcMuffin And it could also be because she doesn’t know know him which causes her to not love him. That’s a reason I’ve heard once in an adaptation.
Also, it's got the Emperor of the Night's voice off from Filmation's Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night, Ommadon's voice off from The Flight of Dragons, "Few Clothes" Johnson off from Matewan, King Jaffe Joffer's voice off from Coming to America, Detective Dugan's voice off from Three Fugitives, Terence Mann's voice off from Field of Dreams, Admiral James Greer's voice off from The Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games, Mr. Mertle's voice off from The Sandlot, Vernon Johns's voice off from The Vernon Johns Story and Frank Couzo's voice off from Best of the Best.
The Grimm's did write their own annonated version. It was retitled "The Summer and Winter Garden", because it was not of German orgin (the original was of French origin) and was a bonus story, because it was taken out of circulation from the regular collection and replaced with "Lily and the Lion", a somewhat similar tale.
unfortunately no, are you looking for it? have you tried ebay? if you look at VHS lots you might find it I found a My Neighbor Totoro VHS (the one before the new voices) in a lot
This was aired as part of an afterschool special compilation called "Misunderstood Monsters," which, along with a linking story about a little boy trying to fit in, showed adaptations of several kids' books about, well, misunderstood monsters. I love the Marianna Meyer picture book it's based on and the Mercer Mayer illustrations (which are so far above Little Critter it's not even funny).
Whoa. I can hear Darth Vader's voice off from Star Wars, Thulsa Doom's voice off from Conan the Barbarian and the Genie of the Lamp, the Genie of the Ring and the Narrator's voice off from Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre's Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp.
ebmosier1 Yeah the brothers Grimm wrote the Lady and the 🦁 I wonder why there aren’t much adaptations as that? It’s still as good as beauty and the beast.
While people complain at the design/animation of this, I did notice the actual book this was apparently adapted from had illustrations from Mercer Mayer in it, though I'm not sure why they didn't use those. I suppose it's a case of needing to simplify things necessary to animate. www.amazon.com/Beauty-Beast-Marianna-Mayer/dp/0590074970
I could never understand the plot of beauty and the beast. The beast was an 11 year old kid living in a castle. A creepy old hag ask him to come in. So...nobody else answers the door? Parents? Servants? Now when he does not want to let a stranger in the house at 11, he must be punished. He should provide a virtually free hotel room to some ubber scarry old witch woman and he is punished. Gosh, maybe he thought she was an evil witch that would curse him and dang yippie skippie he was right after all. House servants where also transformed and punished because...because...um... Whatever... The prince is also he was punished for not having love in his heart. When I was 11, I spent my time playing with Tonka Toys, BB guns and for some reason was not interested in finding my eternal love, marriage or deep romance. Now Belle is kinda weird. She has a Chip-n-Dales village quality hunk ( Gaston) going for her but she ends up wanting to spend life with a dog/man/beast thing? Kinky but strange. Belle almost gets eaten by wolves but, later goes back into the same woods to find her father. So... why didn't the wolves eat her father or her? I guess even starving wolves don't want to touch those mutants. Gaston warns the townspeople that the Beast is a man-eating monster that must be killed. He's been a monster for 10 years but tonight the villagers suddenly feel deathly afraid by a monster that lives with a petite unarmed teenage girl. The Beast's servants defeat the townspeople! Why? Does anyone else go on a medieval battle field for a castle they don't own. The beast fight Gaston and kills him. Nothing scary for Belle to get out of there... So after witnessing first degree murder, Belle decides to kiss the beast. Now he become a beautiful hansom man. Um Belle... If you wanted a hansom man, why didn't you just marry Gaston in the beginning and not have to face wolves, creepy monsters and other near death experiences. Finally, the princess and prince dance around with the father and servants watching. Yea, thanks for not fighting the castle battle Dad.... As for the servants?! Like they would stick around to be turned into silverware again for another 10 years.
These Bosustow Entertainment efforts aren't too bad, there's a few gems like their adaptation of Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree". ua-cam.com/video/1TZCP6OqRlE/v-deo.html

Beings back good memories!!!!
I used to watch this at my nans house and never realised this was Mufasa's voice telling the story hahah
Speaking of which I have sad news, James Earl Jones passed away

I have been looking for this cartoon for thirty years! Thank you so much for uploading :)
glad you found it.

Oh, hi Mufasa!!!
I remember finding this animation extremely creepy as a little girl. Rewatching it years later, I still get that creepy feeling haha.

When we were little my sister and I were scared of this version of Beauty and the Beast but gosh does this bring back memories 😂

James Earl Jones. He's really great on this!
It's amazing

And I almost forgot, he returned to The Sandlot 2 as Mr. Mertle again.
The old lady in beauty's dream sounds familiar.
Someone call Phelous, we've found another one!
Did this cartoon came from some kind of tv series about fairy tales because I’m in love with this😍

That afterschool special was an episode of CBS Library. CBS 2 years later would air the Ruby Spears Beauty & The Beast.
@@Thompsonnw That was pretty good too. I liked hearing Alan Young (aka Wilbur and Uncle Scrooge) show up as a talking cockatoo.
And Mufasa's voice from _The Lion King_.
If I'm reading it right, the date stamp (0:07) says 1981. Not a 70s cartoon but close.
The Brothers Grimm didn't write it. The most common and popular version was buy Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont in the 1756.
ebmosier1 Yeah the brothers Grimm wrote the Lady and the 🦁 I wonder why there aren’t much adaptations as that? It’s still as good as beauty and the beast.

I didn't know that; I'll have to go check it out. Thanks!
This is the SECOND Beauty and the Beast cartoon narrated by James Earl Jones.
TheApachacha what's the other one?
Good grief! The sisters are a pair of hags!
Oh, one more thing, it has Marge Simpson and the Narrator's voice off from The Simpsons.
I am an animal after all I must kill for my meat🍖🍗🥓🐖🐗🐏🐄🐐🦃🦅

Am I hearing James Earl Jones?
JKat188 YES!
@@mamaya1971 speaking, which I have bad news he passed away this September
The Walt Disney version is nothing but a mockery compared to this telling of the classic story.
You're welcome.

It WAY BETTER THEN DISNEY
omg michael york!
I think the beast is voiced by the Petrie uncle in the land before seven
@@jamessparkman6604 same voice actor it is all Michael york

Nick Bosustow? Any kinship with Stephen Bosustow, from UPA?

Er , , , no its not.
That is the single worst beast design I have ever seen.
I don't think it's bad, but if this version is based on the Mercer/Marianna Meyer book I wish it had stuck closer to the book's designs.
The animation is shitty. Though Earl Jones narrating, brilliant.
