Karsten Warholm of Norway, beaten consistently last year by Qatar’s rising force of Abderrahman Samba, had the final word here as he retained his men’s 400m hurdles world title tonight on his rival’s home ground.
Warholm ran his trademark race, starting fast and taking a clear lead by the halfway point before hanging tough to cross the line in 47.42 ahead of the hugely talented Rai Benjamin of the United States, who clocked 47.66. Samba, whose season has been interrupted by injury, took bronze in 48.03.

This guy just broke 46 seconds.....
45.94
He is a legend
Greatest race in OLY history
CR is still from 1993,right?
@@dmitry.greatgrandsonofteheroes Nope! Allison Dos Santos ran the current CR last year in Eugene. 46.29
That light show and projection on the track is seriously impressive. What a way to pump up the contestants and the crowd
Same here, really slick.....
I wish this announcer could follow me around everyday: “can he pour that cereal? Can he obtain the nutrition he needs to perform this morning? Lucky Charms will not be enough for this champion. He knows he needs Raisin Bran to dig deep. His resolve to achieve is that of one of the all time greats”
If there was a video where he did that I'd 100% watch that

You need to write more comments on all World Athletics videos loolololol
Warholm vs. Benjamin has been a great battle brewing. I can't wait to see them in 2021 Olympics
Doha was probably a bit too late in the season to produce a world record. Considering that Warholm did 46,92 earlier this year, this may not be an impossible task for him next year, though.
Yup, especially the fact that Benjamin has recently surpassed Warholm's PB!
Warholm just set a new WR... the plot thickens
Just a few days wait.
@Bradley Owusu - People always forget about Samba. I still have faith.
This is what a World Championship final ought to look like. USA - despite COVID - utterly botched it this year. It felt like a basic extended track meet. Thank God the athletes were outstanding
Come here after that legendary tokyo race today
now olympic Champion and world record holder !!
The most important thing that I liked about him is his phenomenal sporting spirit....Look how he went to all the either competitor and have the hand....This makes athletics supercalifragilisticexpelidicious....
I still come back to this race. what a fucking beast Warholm is
Here after Warholm obliterated his own world record. The best race of Tokyo 2021, and probably the best 400m hurdles race ever.
Who else is here after Warholm’s wr?
Samba’s kick was absolutely massive
It was to late
he's always got a good last kick
1- 2 4 - 5 I mean for gold but he got bronze and who knows if he kicked earlier he might’ve not had the strength, died, and gotten worse than bronze
@@yendis902 i agree
@Se Ou best times are ran in outer lanes
Samba's race was most underrated, came from last to finish 3rd
Based on the times that were being set by Warholm and Benjamin during 2018 and 2019, with them running the second and third fastest times ever, I was truly expecting a world record. But the order in which they finished was no surprise because Warholm, Benjamin and Samba, despite Smaba's injury and comeback, were the dominant athletes. Great final, just expected faster times.
Rai recurved am injury a few weeks before champs
I'm not well versed with track and field, but I'm always hearing how the best runners are in the middle lanes, so I wonder if 2 of them being in outside lanes had anything to do with the final times. What if they had been 3-4-5 or 4-5-6?
Robert Ridley wargolm prefer the outside lanes because he doesn't want a very sharp turn.
Yeah that day had not the best conditions for a wr based on that it was around a 1000 deegres.
Warholm just broke the world record earlier today
The guy is amazing. He is going to be the GOAT in this event like Michael Johnson is in the flat 400M.
And again too!!!!
AND AGAIN, this guy is a monster
Samba, Warholm and Benjamin makes this event huge. And now we have Alison Dos Santos too
Yep, I'm all up into track now because of the guys as well as other current track stars. Luckily as an American I don't get to emotional if the Americans lose, or too hyped if they win, us Americans just love a good "contest"
ALL PARTICIPANTS IS PRACTICE FULL, TECHNICAL FULL, STAMINA FULL, ENERGY FULL, STRONG FULL AND POWERFUL.................
IN THIS SITUATION WINER IS SUPER WONDERFUL...........
The 1, 2, 3 perfection in the all time list
Warholm 46.70
Benjamin 46.83
Samba 46.98

I love warholms hype he is so nice to watch 1:40
4:33 is what your here for
The build up makes it better
@Oliver McCall for you I guess not...for me it does
No Im not
no no I’m here for the full show
The 400m hurdles is the hardest running event there is without question
My third time watching I don't think I can get tired of watching warholm
6:14 maybe it will come at the olympics next year
Well that didn’t age well
sucks because it surely would have come. Benjamin and Warholm would have pushed each other to a WR no doubt. At least they're both very young, WR falls in 2021.
@@lavs8696 and Samba as well.
You knew that when you made this comment chalé
eww xD
his face ewww
Can't wait until thursday, 400m open in Diamond League :-)
It's *amazing* that he is so dominant in the 400h during a period with athletes such as Benjamin, Samba, Dos Santos and McMaster. Shows how truly great Warholm is - Legend status guaranteed if he wins in Tokyo imo.
ワーホルム大好き!❤
New Legend
Who's here after he got WR?

i was young and strong like Karsten... good job my dear friend!!
Dos Santos improved 2 seconds since then :O
かっこええ。たまらん。

Your the best warholm..my hero ..congratulations ❤
War is a Superfast Car🔥🌀🔥
Karsten Warholm congratulations.., 'am amazed by ur performance with so much more applaud on ur record of 47.42
I wouldn’t wish the anxiety before a race in my worst enemy
3 years later Dos Santos is World champion.
Sheer Dominance. Warholm is so calm and composed. An utter delight to watch. It was such an exciting race and contest among the world's best. Guess who came out on top? The best of course 😊👌👌😊
Chris Hansen seems a bit charged 🤷🏾♀️
I like this man a lot for his tremendous sporting spirit & lovable sportsmanship. Probably the BEST. Love from INDIA.😍
I reckon maybe one day he can do it in under 46 seconds.
And he did!!
Lol
@@ozamatazbuckshank7467 Lmao look at the timestamp, they posted this after the fact.
I love the American presenters' way of being just as excited, if not even more in this particular case, about the non-American stars as their own
The presenter is British, and an ex-athlete, so I imagine it's all about the sport for him, rather than nationalities.
Luis and stephen. I'll personally deliver you your gold stars after the covid19 pandemic
Christopher, Since you have rejected your bronze, I come forward to claim my honorary bronze 😂😂😂
It was delightful race to watch , Christopher
@@abhishektmr1073 Good
Please upload 4×4 mixed relay
imagine him saying warholm would break the world record, and he actually does so 2 years later
T J Holmes was in the zone.
second after Stephen
He is strong
Very. The 400 m hurdles is the most painful event closely followed by the 800 and the 400m.
Starts 4:35 save your time 😜
Genial
Nace una leyenda Alison Dos Santos
Warhom's pre-race war cries are like he is calling on Odin for victory.
waoooooowarhjow flysssssss

This is alot more impressive than normal sprint
pretty naive way of looking at the sport
Strange comment - Is Triple Jump more impressive than Long Jump?
@@David_USC in a way yes. ask how many 100m runners can even finish a marathon yet every marathon runner runs over 300 100m in just one marathon.
Men's 400m and 400m hurdles are the most awaiting event next Olympics considering the depth of talents in those events. Can't wait.
Don't forget the women's 400m hurdles.

Dos Santos is the world champion in 2022
first here too
The way he jumps those hurdles looks so unreal
Warholm is amazing!, I just don't get how he can get 47 lows or even 46 highs everytime, that is just unbelievable!!!.
I think he is under performing....think he can do 45.something if he puts his mind to it🙂
norwegians dominate winter sports, and apperently we are elite on summer sports aswell. Ingebrigsten brothers, warholm, ødegaard and haaland.
He is great but I think Harald Schmid could do the same things. Unfortunately Schmid didn't care enough of rhythmic during his trainings. Big mistake!
03:42 imitating Allyson Felix
Please make a video about Doha marathon 🙏
Ningún argentino que hinche por el atleta brazuca???
Can't wait for Tokyo
😊😊😊
8:42 Warholm did not shave his pit hairs
Now, these are some fine black men omg

3:41 you can see the american determination on this man's face
Karsten Warholm is my future husband. Name a better duo...
I get the feeling an African American is taking the gold in the 2021 Olympics 🙌🏾
That'd have to be Lattin or Holmes and they're not getting it. Benjamin is Antiguan.

IMO Rai had did way too much running. He did many 400 flat as well as hurdles leading up to this. Ine day he will win it. Its his first ever biggest event the newbie. Congrats Warholm

wow, i think thats most inteligent and eficient trick, instead of diving or heading, you use your hand to reach the finish so you can cut the time more early.

why dont they use this too in sprint and longer distance 😂
Wowww
nia priyanti the time stops when your torso crosses the line not your hand
