  • DJI OSMO Action 4 has a secret exposure setting that is a game changer.
    The camera has a shutter speed setting that lets you set the shutter speed range just like the ISO range. This way you have a lot more control over your auto exposure setting.

    • @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens
      @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens  7 місяців тому +1

      Hello. I think that if you don't want to do any post work, then go with normal colours. Use -1 for both sharpening and denoising. The OA4 has a good white balance sensor in front and it does a good job of detecting the scene colour. I hope this helps. Cheers!

    • @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens
      @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens  6 місяців тому +2

      Hello. If you have a chance to use an editing software that has noise reduction and sharpening, then it's best to use that. The camera doesn't do it as good as Davinci resolve studio for example and you have the freedom of how much you can play with this in post. Otherwise the camera noise reduction and sharpening is baked into the video file.

    Thanks for this info. I have been having issues with shimmering video in the highlights especially on roof tops for some reason. Maybe a ND will help but will see when they arrive. Anyone else have this issue?

    • @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens
      @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens  7 місяців тому +1

    I have also discovered this way of setting the exposure on Action 3/4. However, I still see some shakiness while using 1/100s shutter speed. I would be great if DJI make it possible to select a range between 1/120s and 1/8000s. Or, better yet: they should make it possible to adjust ISO and shutter speeds in 1/3 EV steps.

      This trick is awesome. To be able to set a range is cool. So, I set mine to 1/100 ~1/8000, and the ISO no higher than 3200 (I'm vlogging at night). My question is the frame rate. I live in New York, and don't want to deal with GyroFlow later. What's the best FPS rate to get the best quality and stabilization (with Rocksteady ON)? Thanks!

      Hello. You guys have the NTSC in the US so 24 or 23.97FPS is the one to go. If you want a little smoother video sensation then got wit 30FPS. For the "video game look" use 60FPS. In any case a shutter speed of 1/100s will do just fine.

    noob question. For filming in a bright sunny day, with a -0.3EV (cause I like it more "dramatic") and a shutter speed of 1/100-1/8000, in auto mode of course, would it matter if the ISO range is 100-200 or if it's 100-800? In theory it shouldn't for the sunny part right? But the 100-800 would help me if I go through an unexpected shady place, like a tunnel, under trees and so on. My main use for this camera is to record my motorcycle rides so I can't quickly adjust while riding.

    • @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens
      @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens  6 місяців тому +1

      Hello. Exactly. The 100-800 ISO gives you more range for those darker places. It also allows the camera to have a higher then 1/100s shutter speed for better stabilisation. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

So , I mostly use the camera's stabilization, which works for every setting.
