    Steve, that was super interesting and informative, as I was focusing on your setup and ILS approach. Several times I paused and studied your instruments and rewound and did it again, to understand as much as possible. As a 300 hour private pilot from 1980 to 1995 and wanting to start flying again, this was a really well narrated and instructive review. Wow, thanks!

    Did my CPL multi IFR in Opa-Locka back in 1981. Great experience thks guys you've made my day and brought back lot of memories. The actual hangar I used to fly does not exist anymore, Clark's Aviation and last time I visited 2 years ago it's all so different, but still love it. Runways 9L 9C and 9R were in use but mostly 9R was used for training for both fixed and rotor. Wow, amazing.

      I can't imagine flying a TBM 850 into possible wake conditions.. or any aircraft for that matter. Completely unnecessary risk. Even with crosswind and wingman on upwind, separation is important to avoid wake (and stall spin); small upwind can render positioning trivial.

    I like the "one dot" approach on the glideslope as a guide for lowering the landing gear. Many pilots wait until the glide slope centers Back in the day, we waited until the outer marker started beeping when every ILS had one. The markers were considered part of the precision aspect of the ILS. But this makes more sense because it gives you a heads up. It's kind of like the road sign that warns you there is a stop sign ahead in a few hundred feet.

    • @richardmurphy2827
      @richardmurphy2827 4 роки тому +3

      Not exactly. The issue here is thrust to weight ratio. The Baron with the turbocharged engines is simply moving more air than a single engine turboprop upon takeoff. A PT6 will spool just as fast as the TIO520's, the TBM is quite simply heavier. 7,394 pounds (avg) for the TBM versus about 5,500 for the Baron. The TBM out-performs it quite easily once airborne.

      Simply put a given distance between two still and identical aircrafts and let one of them start 1 second before the second one, and the gap will increase in terms of distance (but the delay will remain the same). Then, you can discuss power to weight ratios, and so on.

    • @HabuBeemer
      @HabuBeemer 4 роки тому

      @@richardmurphy2827 Not to mention two propellers pulling the aircraft through the air vs one. Prop diameters could be roughly the same but the Baron has twice the bite. Turbos on the ground don't really shine that much. It's at altitude where they give you sea level power.

    Even though the cruise ships are inactive they still have crew aboard so they have to go out to deep water periodically to discharge waste and make fresh water, that's why you see them moving from time to time.

      Skeleton crew on a ship that carries thousands it would take awhile to fill up the holding tanks and use up the fresh water. Keeping the engines exercised and all the systems flowing is much the same as parking large Aircraft, they have to be started and moved or completely shut down for long term storage.

      Also they come in to reprovision. We have several in the Tampa Bay Area and they rotate in and out of the port every week or ten days

    If planes had consciousness I bet both of those planes were happy to see the two of you. Even for a brief flight.

    I would fly out of TMB and was formation flying without even knowing it. One guy came straight at me and as I was about to veer to the right to avoid a head on and he barrel rolls right over the top of me. I just watched him like with my jaw dropped hypnotized. Well, that was pretty cool. I loved flying at night, smoother, less bandit traffic...good vlog
