- Drawn in by the haunting specter of the Florida panther, National Geographic Explorer Carlton Ward Jr. and a coalition of biologists, ranchers, conservationists, and Indigenous Peoples find themselves on the front lines of an accelerating battle between forces of renewal and destruction that have pushed the Everglades to the brink of ecological collapse.
This odyssey of hope and heartbreak is the culmination of more than five years of field research, 500,000 still images, and over 800 hours of ultra high definition camera trap footage. Against all odds, wild panthers have been stunningly captured in their native ecosystem, as they've never been filmed before.
The film is the cornerstone of the ‘Path of the Panther' project, supported by the National Geographic Society and many other partners that inspired the passage of the Florida Wildlife Corridor Act - the first legislation of its kind and a blueprint for addressing habitat fragmentation and species extinction across the globe.
PATH OF THE PANTHER will be released in over 40 theaters in Florida - including major cities Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando and Tampa on Feb. 24, 2023. The film will air on National Geographic and stream on Disney+ this spring.

This makes me emotional. As a Florida native, amateur wildlife photographer and lifelong Everglades explorer, this is my life's passion. I searched all my life for panthers, came across thousands of tracks, hundreds of scrapes. Finally was blessed to see a mother and cub 3 summers ago. And it caught me so off guard I didn't have my camera ready, of course. But just having the opportunity to see them was a major dream realized. I live just outside the Everglades and continue to see more and more habitat lost to development. It breaks my heart. I pray the Florida Panther will always roam our state.
Too bad the governor has other ridiculous priorities.I live here too.We need change.
I love your passion for wildlife ❤
Amen to that
I feel the same way
I salute those who try to save the Panthers and Wildlife
As a Floridian who lives not far from the Everglades, this made me emotional.
I grew up where all this is filmed. 20 years ago this area was more rural and didn’t have a lot of built up land. Now everything is being built on top of each other. You have houses that are in the millions just feet from the Everglades. It’s actually out of control, eventually there will be nothing left.
My whole life growing up in Miami and exploring the Everglades. The images look stunning in the documentary...Unbelievable.
Giving Mother Nature a helping hand allowing nature to finds its way. 👏
Amazing story and video footage. Thank you for saving the beautiful FL Panther and our unique Everglades.
Saw this last night at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula MT & it was 👏amazing! Bravo to saving this precious cat & restoring habitat for them to not go extinct like so many things these days!
As a Miami native that lives close to the border with the Everglades and all the way the end of urbanization this makes me really emotional I’ve taken multiple trips to the Everglades and big cypress and it always amazes me how one moment we can be walking down brickell in downtown Miami and the other we can be one with nature on a pine rock land in the heart of south Florida
Bravo! I am from Montana-the "last best place," but Florida can easily be deemed that. I applaud all those working to save Florida and its wildlife from unchecked development, pollution, and invasive species. It is a race against time. .
save the florida panther please!
Such a vitally important project. Thank you ❤️
So proud of those who made this. Let's preserve our natural ecosystem... at least what's left of it.
These creatures need as much protection as possible.
Amazing I Love Nature 😍🌍
Just watched this tonight. Amazing film!
Florida pathers are one the most beautiful wild big cats PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE save them !!!
Pumas, lions, tigers, cheetahs, jaguars, and snow leopards. I just love big cats ✨🦁🐯🐆
How remarkable & incredible! Please 🙏🏽🥺 save these FL Panthers. & Please give a full episode of an update on this
Hermoso felino, el más bello de América
Mother Earth and her children can teach us much, but will we listen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️
Will we???????
I can’t wait to see this! ❤️
I saw 3 Panthers off Saxon Boulevard in New Smyrna Beach about 10 years ago. It was a female with two kitts. They were on the edge of the mangroves on Mosquito Lagoon. The really crazy part was that their coats were grey!
Thanks for all you do.
DeSatin don’t care.
Florida voters need to be all over this. 🐆
They do need to be all over this. However, saving the Florida panther ideally would fall into a "woke" category. Over development would be a non woke activity. Remember, Florida doesn't do woke. Given the political realities and historical patterns of how the Florida citizens vote and what they care about the Florida panther is probably done.
Let’s save the Florida Panthers. Please drive slow in the areas they live…
Can't wait to see it! 🙂
Wonderful
I would love to watch this docu, shame there won't be any showings near Orlando. Barrier to watch is way too high :(
What a relief to see Disney+ at the end since the brand has been shifting focus to Hulu ever since fall 2022...
WOW WOW WOW! EXCELLENT!
I learned that Florida panthers are an endangered species and need their habitat protected.
Betty Osceola is the Queen!
Incredible! Who scored this trailer? :)
Save earth 🌎 ♥️
Heard of the film on the mossyoak game keepers podcast. It was amazing to see. Rooting for the big cats
Hope!
More pls !
Sad but the reality of this is happening at an alarming rate. Hopefully this awesome documentary gets out to show the people and realize saving wildlife and their habitat is crucial.
❤❤❤

@@NatGeo when it will release in India...please tell...eagerly waiting for months..
Floridians need to ban together and FIGHT. I sobbed during and after. So heartbreaking. Love from California

It’s time to start holding our state politicians responsible. Most are in bed with housing developers and are ruining what truly makes Florida Great.
Unfortunately every day land is cleared for more and more housing developments.
Way too many of us (humans) on this planet and as our population continues to grow, things will only get worse. The world population took thousands and thousands of years just to reach 2 billion. In less than 100, we added 6 billion more of us. That is just insane growth. I've already seen enough destruction here in Florida in my lifetime and I can not even imagine how much worse it will be in the next 50. More people...more development...more overall destruction.
Exactly. I attended the first Tampa film showing + panel Q&a. They totally skirted a question about how to handle eco-grief, which trust me will only become more widespread & more intense over time not just in Florida... too much delusional hope, much as I hate to say it. It's Not a "Yes or No" issue, it's a grey area... but overall yep, too many people on the planet, anti-natalism should be seen in a more rational/ Compassionate lense imo by the masses
If we continue to develop land, we need to allow space for wildlife and install animal crossing. Here in Florida, I will never see a panther.
Well, that depends upon where you live. Some of my relatives have definitely seen them! Do you live in the south west?
@@salyluz6535 Just north of Tampa
@@npeace312 Well it’s a bit more civilized up there than where my relatives live down near (E of and SE of) Ft Myers. They have definitely seen them on their property! But I know they are good at hiding, and certainly do not want to be seen.
I agree, there should Definitely be many more wildlife crossings!
@Saly Luz I love watching trail cams in that area and other spots. Some great UA-cam videos of panthers, bear and other wildlife are shown.
@@npeace312 Would you be willing to share sources with me, where I could also watch those? I haven’t been able to go to Florida for quite a while now, and I would really enjoy watching Florida wildlife again!
👓☕🙏
Where's the whole video?
Hi! The film will be released in over 40 theaters in Florida on Feb. 24, 2023. It will also air on National Geographic and stream on Disney+ this spring.
i have a request?? can you PLEASE do an episode of "drain the ocean" about the "baltic sea millenium falcon"..... the whole world wants to know exactly what that thing is???
If you are serious then write directly to the company instead of posting under a video on a different topic, where they will obviously never see it.
Look to DeSantis's pockets to understand why the Everglade is being destroyed
HINDI DOCUMENTARY PLEASE
😭😭
Plz pin 😢😢😢
Never
I don’t want to interrupt you but there are some fish swimming around your leg
That is not a panther that is a Cougar!
“panther” is a name given to cougars/mountain lions in the southern u.s
The bone
, hey
Just move some other ones in
I blame Disney
This is not a jungle cat. It should be moved to the Smokey Mountains. There is a smaller than typical Jaguar in southwest Mexico that should be imported. They have webbed feet and are better swimmers and more suited to southern Florida. They are about the same size.
No it certainly should not be moved to a mountain climate with snowy freezing winters, when it is a subtropical wetland cat! Your artificial rearrangement is not sound, natural or healthy!! 👎🏽
@@salyluz6535great reply
lol they ain't tryin to save the land or the panther. Trying to make $$$
Pretty much. Disney is a huge contributor to the pollution and over growth we have here in our Florida. It’s absolutely hypocritical.
You will never be able to save them. It's better to import them from rockies just as u did for the wolves in yellowstone.
They have already mated them with the Texas Cougar to save them from extinction. The only way to save them is to stop the out-of-control growth that the Republicans created.
@@cindystiles4671 Repubs were threat to planet earth...democrats are a threat to world peace. Ukraine is bluntly because of democRATs
They are a different species
They are a sub species, they are adapted to be more aquatic than the mountain cougars
